Summary: I got your huckleberry ....... right here.
Review: Pretty decent movie overall, especially the performances given by Val Kilmer and Michael Beihn. They get 5 stars for their roles as Doc Holiday and Johnny Ringo.

There were two big Wyatt Earp films out at the same time. Tombstone and the one with Kevin Costner called "Wyat Earp", how original. I really wish I could combine the two. Tombstone depicts Earp as a real hero, where as Costner portrayed him for how he really was - a mean SOB. He also married a prostitute, but this version of the film conveniently covers that up. It also justifies Earp leaving his former-prostitute wife for an actress by making the wife a drug addict. Also conveniently leaving out that she became addicted because of Earp.

All in all this version is a quick "goody-two-shoes" version of what happenned at the city of Tombstone. My main beef with this movie, aside from it having very little authenticity, is Earp's mistress. They could have picked a better looking girl to make him leave his wife over. She is ...... well, not pretty. And also leaving Jason "9021Ho" Priestly and his boyfriend Billy "Vain" Zane out of this film would have increased this films rating as well.

Summary: Too "Hollywood"
Review: A very entertaining move, but lacked any historical value. Hollywood needs to learn how to entertain and be historically correct. The "Cowboys" were so glamourized they were beyond believable. However, Val Kilmer was the best and most acurate Doc Holiday to date. No one knows what really happened in Tombstone, but this tale was a bit tall.

Summary: LET "THE RECKONING" BEGIN!
Review: As a fan of movies, I find that most films labled as "The Director's Cut" just add scenes for the sake of adding scenes ("Star Wars: A New Hope Special Edition:" the scene between Biggs and Luke was not needed or acted well). But if you are lucky, you'll find a "Director's Cut" that features scenes that help better round out the story ("Highlander 2: The Renegade Version," "The Abyss Special Edition," and "Superman: The Movie Expanded Edition"). One of those fortunate films is George P. Cosmatos' cut for his epic western "Tombstone." Released under Buena Vista's successful "Vista Series" packaging, "Tombstone," my choice as the best western film ever made, now includes almost five minutes of footage that really give a better understanding of the story and the characters. And the lavish 2-disc set is filled with unbelievable extras, including three behind-the-scenes featurettes, including a brilliant look at the filming of the OK Corrall sequence, which was authenicated down to the last detail. A brilliant edition to the DVD collection. Tell 'em Wyatt Earp's coming, and hell's comin' with him. Grade: A+

Summary: INSTANT CLASSIC - THE BEST WESTERN IN 20 YEARS
Review: It is not the story that makes this movie it is the performances. The story of the Earp's, the Clanton's and Tombstone is a legend of the old west. It is the performances in this movie that make it shine. And it really shines! An instant classic that all future westerns will be judged against. And the first western capable of standing side by side with "The Outlaw Josey Wales".

A star studded cast was brought together for this movie including Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer, Powers Booth, Dana Delany, Sam Elliott, Bill Paxton, Michael Biehn, Jason Priestley, Billy Zane and Charlton Heston. Each actor casted to perfection. The camera angles, the cinematography and the dialogue are exceptional.

If you don't own any western, this should be your first. Sit back and enjoy the legend of the Earp's and Doc Holliday.

Summary: Better and before 'Wyatt Earp'
Review: Let's get this straight for people who think otherwise. Tombstone was made before Wyatt Earp was. So saying that this is "retelling" the Wyatt Earp movie, or basing this movie off of anything that happened in that movie is pure nonsensical garbage.(By the way, I enjoy and own both of these movies and have seen them many times.)

All the characters in this movie were played magnificently. My favorite character must've been Doc Holiday, of course. Whom which Val Kilmer did an excellent job of portraying. Some people seem to think that a bitter man can't be funny? Well, he was both. He played bitter well, then he came with his facetious comments, which just happened to be funny.

The story goes as this: Wyatt Earp has retired to Tombstone to spend the rest of his life with his lover and his brothers. He wants to have a peaceful life. As soon as him and the brothers settle in, after being re-acquaintanced with Doc Holiday (Kilmer), trouble starts to arise when a gang known as the "Cowboys" start causing trouble in Tombstone. At first, Wyatt (Russell) wants to let the police handle it themselves, he wants no part in it. But once his brothers become Sheriffs and he sees things aren't getting any better in Tombstone, he feels compelled to join. More squirmishes come about between the Earp boys and the Cowboys and eventually Wyatt gets insanely rageful. Rageful because of the Death of his brother, Morgan, at the hands of the Cowboys. His vows to kill them all, and does.

I hope I did not trivialize the plot and the movie in general, because there is so much going on in it. That's just a small outline of the main plot. People think that it has some lame plot devices. Do they even realize that this was based on a true story? That makes it a little more interesting, you can't expect everything to be Hollywood fabricated ... But unfortunately that's all some people expect and want, and when they don't get it, it upsets them. For shame!

Side-Note: Plenty of time for Earp's change from pacifist to rage-driven man was allowed. I mean, how much time does it take for you to get angry and murderous after people have killed your brother?

And another horrible thing is that people can't realize the difference between the stories of Wyatt Earp and Tombstone. Tombstone is based on events that happened in Tombstone and they happened to involve Wyatt Earp. Wyatt Earp the movie is based on the entire life of Wyatt Earp, not just Tombstone. It seems like the people believing Wyatt Earp is just Tombstone, know Tombstone pizzas better than the actual movie.

The bottom line is: If you want an action-packed movie that tells a great, TRUE story with fine acting then buy this movie.

Summary: "I'M YOUR HUCKLEBERRY."
Review: "Tombstone" is, without a doubt, the best western flick ever made! Director George P. Cosmatos stages epic gunfight scenes and gives the well-known story a dark edge. But the film is mostly memorable for it's grand cast who put their hearts and souls into their performances: Kurt Russell ("Stargate"), Val Kilmer ("Batman Forever"), Michael Biehn ("Megiddo: The Omega Code 2"), Sam Elliott ("Gettysburg," "We Were Soldiers"), Bill Paxton ("Apollo 13," "Twister," "Titanic"), Stephen Lang ("Gettysburg," "The Amazing Panda Adventure," and the upcoming "Gods and Generals"), Billy Zane ("Titanic," "The Phantom"), and a short turn-in by legendary actor Charlton Heston ("Planet of the Apes," "The Ten Commandments," "The Greatest Story Ever Told," and "Charlton Heston presents The Bible"). Watch this film! You'll love it! Grade: A+

Summary: "I'm Coming and A Great Western's Coming With Me!"
Review: Tombstone isn't the best western ever but it has to be in some critics top ten. I contribute this to the leading four men, Kurt Russel, who is perfect as Wyatt Earp, Val Kilmer, who delivers the best Doc Holiday in film history, Sam Elliot who is great(as always)as Virgil Earp, and Bill Paxton as Morgan Earp.

Make no mistake, the plot goes far beyond Tombstone and the gunfight at the O.K. Carral and tells the whole story of Wyatt and Doc, to a certain degree.

Some parts of it seemed to be a throwback to the westerns of yesteryear. Tombstone is a very well done popcorn film or should I say spaghetti western. It's an outrageous film that you will either love or hate. I love it and would recommend it to anyone who wants to be entertained by possibly the best popcron movie ever.

Summary: "Its not revenge hes after, its a reckoning."
Review: Of all the westerns ive seen in my days id have to say this is the most moving ive ever seen. It bothers me that people dont just sit down and watch the movie, no they pick away at it and pull away the most interseting parts.
Val Kilme( DOC holliday) is to be applaused in this movie because he shows the "true meaning of friendship" hes there even when everyone else just lets him eat dirt. Even though the movie is a bit exaggerated on some characters its good. its entertaining. thats what we want right? An entertaining movie that sends us a message about brotherly love and friendship. holliday is the kinda guy i think anyone would have wanted to meet, respectful yet commanding at the same time. i think the one line everyone will come to remember when they think about this movie, is "Im your huckleberry" by holiday and
"tell em im coming and hells coming with me" wyatt earp.
when i seen wyatt holding doc when he fell off the horse i felt like everybody should have a friend like him because hes not just docs' friend, hes his brother (in a spiritual kind of way).
I hope this movie will come to be as moving to yoiu as it was for me.

Summary: A fun departure
Review: Ok so anytime you gather this many stars in one film you might have the tendency to see the stars and not the characters. After reading some other reviews I wonder if people were actually paying attention or too busy picking it apart to just enjoy a great performace on a very loose rendition of the old west. I DIG THIS FILM AND RECOMEND IT HIGHLY.

peace out.
