Summary: I'm your Huckleberry
Review: Aside from this being a great western action adventure film, it's a true story which a lot of people forget or don't realize. The main actors do an excellent job and the movie has a fine supporting cast. Being an old west history buff, I have studied documents and accountings of this time in history and have visited the town of Tombstone 5 times. This movie not only accurately portrays the town, especially the Bird Cage Theater which is nearly exact, but the costuming is the best I've seen of 1880's style reproduction. There are a couple of inaccuracies like Marshal White being shot in the chest, (he was shot in the groin), and Virgil and Morgan being shot on the same night, (they were shot 3 months apart). Nonetheless, the events are accurately portrayed as they happened, right down to minute details like a bullet striking over Wyatt's head when Morgan gets shot in Hatch's Saloon, and the dog continuously barking afterwards. The makers of this movie did their homework and are to be commended on the fantastic result. They even used a lot of the phraseology of the time and some lines are directly from documentation of interviews of people who were witnesses to these events. Included in these is of course the best line..."I'm your Huckleberry." The source of this line is from the book "Tombstone." By the way, a Huckleberry is old west vernicular meaning, "The best man for the job." An outstanding movie about part of the life of an outstanding man, Wyatt Earp.

Review: Aside from this being an excellent western adventure film it's a true story, which many people forget. The main actors are fantastic as is the supporting cast. Being an old west history buff, I can say the costuming is some of the best replication of 1880's style that I've seen in films. I've visted the actual town of Tombstone on 5 occasions, and this movie portrays it well and shows how it probably would have looked in the 1880's. A lot of the details and phraseology I noticed in the movie were obviously drawn from historical documents related to the events that are dipicted. For someone who has studied these events before this movie was ever produced, it was quite refreshing to see the accuracy. There are a couple of minor inaccuracies, such as Morgan and Virgil being shot on the same night. They were actually shot 3 months apart, but the shootings portrayed are accurate in how they occurred. Even down to a bullet hitting the wall over Wyatt's head as he watched Morgan play pool and the dog continuously barking after Morgan is shot. This is an exceptional film about the life of an exceptional man, Wyatt Earp.

Summary: A Top Western
Review: There are few westerns that can compare to this film. It is vastly underrated and Val Kilmer gives a bravo performance as Doc Holliday. The only western that comes to mind that compares is "The Searchers". And it's not really fair to compare any western to "The Searchers". Kurt Russell is totally believable as Wyatt Earp and if not for Val Kilmer, should have at least been mentioned for the Academy Award. He's that good. Westerns do not fair well in Hollywood. "The Unforgiven" not withstanding. Russell always gives a believable performance and it's time he is recognized. I must admit, that any western with Sam Elliot can't be bad. In fact a couple of years ago Elliot would have been the perfect "Wyatt Earp". There's alot of action, but it does not overwelm the storytelling here. In short, don't just rent this film, go out and buy it. It's a classic.

Summary: The Best Western of the Last 20 Years
Review: About the only movie I've ever watched more than once! The characters, the lines, the action couldn't be more testoserone-filled. Ladies will LOVE Kurt, Val, Sam and Bill in all of their western glory. Men will love the the "good guys win -bad guys die" theme and the male comradery of the story; not to mention Dana Delany (though it would have been nice to have seen "more" of her). The twist in the showdown between Wyatt and Johnny Ringo is great. My teenage son has seen this movie 100's of times and about worn out the tape, so now it's DVD and more viewing!

Summary: Tombstone - a modern classic
Review: Though I am no fan of Kurt Russell or Val Kilmer, their performances, along with very strong supporting performances by Sam Elliot, Dana Delaney and others, make this film a real pleasure. The writers and director were certainly fans of the Western genre and had learned a thing or two from John Ford and others before they set out to make this picture, and this may have been the first "neo classic" followed recently by "The Mask of Zorro" and "The Mummy". Surprisingly, it is actually more accurate to the life story of Wyatt Earp than Costner's mess "Wyatt Earp". It is much more satisfying than other modern Westerns, particularly those of Clint Eastwood, whose brooding and gloomy vision may be historically accurate but is awfully depressing. Along with "Silverado" it is a modern classic,and a great deal of fun with with strong acting and an excellent script. However, sensitive persons and children under 14 probably should avoid the picture due to its episodes of violence.

Review: I don't really like westerns but this movie is fabulous. Val gives his greatest performance as Doc "I'll be your hucklberry" Holiday. I feel in love with it instantly. These guys look good in their western outfits and Val is working that horse ride...you will enjoy! Do you know Daisy?

Review: For all you out there who like a fast paced action packed movie that still holds on to a plot,Tombstone is the western for you.The movie opens up on a Mexican church where a Mexican police is getting married.This scene ends in the death of the police and a priest quoting the bible about death on a white horse.The priest is killed and the screen switches to the arrival of Wyatt Earp to Tombstone.His name preceeds him as he offered jobs the moment he arrives.From here the movie rolls along with Wyatts reluctant admittance into the law again.After a violent assault on his family,Earp goes on an unholy quest for vengeance.This leads to one of the most rememberable lines in the movie said by Wyatt to a pleading Ike..."Tell em' Im coming!And hell's comin with me!!!"Indeed it does at Wyatt and his followers,including but not limited to Doc Holiday, hunt down every last cowboy and kill them.Wyatt said it best when he said..."If I see a red sash,Ill kill the man wearin it!!!"Eventually Doc Holiday takes Wyatt place against Ringo in the movies last moment of exitement.This movies fast paced action plot is a must have for all Western fans!!!!
