Review: Lonesome Dove is without a doubt the greatest western ever. I don't even like westerns, but this is one of my all time favorite videos. There are not many movies that I will watch over and over, but I have to watch Lonesome Dove at least twice a year.

Summary: Possibly the best western ever made
Review: I watched Lonesome Dove for the first a few days ago and let me tell you, it was GREAT! I watched the entire series in one viewing (and I cannot wait to watch it again soon). The cast, the script, and the direction are all superb. Robert Duvall's and Tommy Lee Jones' performances are at their best. Anyone who loves a great western or drama should view this movie.

Review: I have seen and enjoyed many western movies, but this one showed a lot of personality over plot that made it much different than most. My only regret is that Gus would have been good in the sequel, much more than Pete. Gus would have handled Newt's problem much better, I would think.

Review: I have purchased 3 copies of this video and have not had one that is watchable. Please note, this is not specifically related to this particular video. I have had similar experiences with other very long movies that would normally take 2-3 tapes, but have been compressed to 1.

Review: This is my all time favorite movie! There isn't a movie in this world that can ever live up to Lonesome Dove!!! It has it all!

Review: Anyone that takes the time to watch this movie will be a big fan; of the characters, actors, and the storyline. Usually when you read a book and see the movie, the movie can be a disappointment but definitely not in this case. I would encourage anyone to see this movie and also read the book, they're both excellent.

Review: Greatest movie ever made. Nobody could have played the characters, Gus and Call except Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones. They were born for it.

Review: This is the best western I have ever seen. Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones were great actors. This movie is one that will make you want to go back to the days of wild horses and indian fights. This movie has turned me into a western fan.

Review: No question. This movie is THE greatest western of all time. It is so real to those who've seen it, that they even have a historical marker on the hotel in Miles City, Montana where Gus McRae was when the story hits it's climax. Really...I've been there...it's on the door.

Review: Lonesome Dove has a great story line. One that keeps you involved with the characters at all times. I especially appreciated the depth of friendship that was portrayed in the movie. Robert Duvall was excellent!!
