Summary: How The West Was Fun!!!
Review: 'Maverick' is by far the best western movie ever! Fast paced, action packed, suspenseful, and funny (very funny), Maverick keeps you on your toes and leaves you screaming for more!

Mel Gibson kicks butt (literally) as Bret Maverick, a handsome, slick and roguish card player trying to win enough money to enter the biggest card game of the year. While trying to win some dough, he meets the scheming thief, Annabelle Bransworth (played by Jodie Foster). I love Jodie Foster in this movie, I never knew she was such a comedian!

'Maverick' is a witty, charming, and hilarous western comedy. A must-see.

Review: A great cast wasted on a convoluted script. I was expecting much, much more.

Summary: A great, great buy
Review: A great modern made western with a lot of comedy. But it doesn't stop at the comedy.. there's plenty of action and realistic settings.

Summary: How the west was fun
Review: For it's duration time Maverick deals many a good hand in the laughter department stakes. Based on the classic 60's T.V series (so many movies now days are) it takes it's cue from how the good old west was once fun and shifts it into high gear for the action packed nineties audience. It suceeds, almost. Gibson is the title character, a cleverly smooth gambler/con man who's quite nimble with a gun but far nimbler with his mouth. His wits are matched par exellance with the introduction of Annabella Bransford (Foster), who's given new definition to the way the game is played. Gibson and Foster are both great when together, both having a natural flair for situation comedy. When the final stakes are set, the biggest poker game of the year, the jokers are out to play and the cards are indeed wild. All the leads equip themesleves wonderfully with southern accents and the setting embraces the west of yesteryear but the plot leaves far too many loopholes and the running time dosen't quite help conceal them. For undemanding fun this is the perfect treat, and a glimpse (labourously) into a wild and untamed west.

Summary: Knee slapping funny!
Review: For sure one of the best comedies ever made. The stars are all great, but some of the most memorable scenes in my mind came from the guest appearances of Graham Greene (as the indian chief) and James Coburn (as the commodore).

This is definitely a movie you would want to watch over and over again!

Summary: One of the BEST!
Review: I absolutely LOVE this movie and could watch it over and over. James Garner and Mel Gibson team up in a wonderful match of wits. If you are a Lethal Weapon fan, Danny Glover's cameo is priceless. I laugh until my sides hurt everytime I watch this. It is great for ALL ages. Enjoy!
