Summary: Stunning Sound for so little money!
Review: After reading the reviews, I decided to investigate the unit further, since I need to replace my aging JVC bedroom unit. I burned a copy of Lee Ritenour's "The Collection" CD (my favorite reference disk) and took it to the electronics store. Lo and Behold! The FWC550 brings out the best from the CD....from the thumping electric bass to the crisp guitar riffs and everything in between. I thought I was hearing the music from FLOOR STANDING speakers! Philips means it when they say 240 Watts! The ulimate sound setting is the combination of DBB-"BLAST" and DSC-"ROCK". Needless to say, I bought a set right away without hesitation. I must say it sounded even better in my room. The only thing missing was Dolby NR for the cassette and direct track access number keys on the remote......This has to be the best buy of the year! Absolutely Stunning!

Review: Before buying this system I went to a few retail stores with my own CD and cassets to test diffrent shelf audio sysytems. I tested at least 25-30 systems. This one intially repelled me by it's look (I must admit it looks strange with all those yellow colores), untill I finally desided to test it. To my great surprise, it's sound outperforms all outher systems that I've tryed .... It has great balance of low, medium and high pitch sounds, unlike most of the other systmems that have one or the other, but not both. I am glad, that after long search I arrived to this one. Get this one and you will not regret. Another important thing, Philips gives 3 years of warranty for extra [money] with oppotunity to get a service at local repaire stores. Pros: the best sound for the money, cons: ugly look, but doesn't matter--still definite FIVE STARS .

Review: Before I start, I must add that I bought the FWC-555 version, with 40 more watts, but I'm sure this one would sound the same...first thing I noticed was the excellent bass. They almost sound like floor standing speakers. I think they go up to 40, but the highest I ever went with them was 35, and no distortion. The Max Sound and Bass Boost stuff contributes substantially to the sound. Without them, these speakers would'nt be nearly as powerful, so make sure you have Bass Boost at blast and have Max Sound on when you want to show off your speakers. This is simply the best speakers around, for the price that is.

Review: I bought myself this stereo and have absolutely loved it. My niece loved it so much that I bought her one, and she is a professional musician. Me, I just knew it sounded great no matter what I played on it. She got into a whole discussion of it not distorting at high volume, etc., etc. All I know is that the music (from opera through rock) sounds absolutely fantastic on it! Now I want to buy one for my sister, and that will probably be it for now!

Review: I bought this thing like 4 days ago and i connected it to my tv and dvd player and i swear if it wusnt for the nagging cats i might have believed i was at the movies. The max power gives it a great kick and the bass makes this system sound so beautiful i highly recomend this thing

Review: I found that this was a great mini hifi system the only problem I discovered was that the system it self was to strong for the speakers but other than that it a great system!

Summary: Unbelievable Sound! Great Price!
Review: I got a chance to hear this stereo first hand...and let me just say...it is UNBELIEVABLE!! Especially for the price! I just couldn't believe it! At first I was a little intimidated by the look of this stereo, but after listening to the...sound of some of the other stereos...I gave it a second look. Okay, so it's a little masculine and a little scary at that, but you just can't beat the quality for the money. (Plus you can just separate the speakers from the base and it's not nearly so scary) It has all the toys...surround sound, digital sound, those nifty sound options to make it sound like you're in a stadium or at a concert, etc. And all the buttons are a lot more user-friendly than those on the Sony and Aiwa stereos I was looking at. So if you want the best cd player [for a reasonable price], this is definitely the one for you. And take it from me, it probably sounds a heck of a lot better than most [other] stereos. Enjoy! Review: I got this system for christmas last year it is the best stereo I have ever heard. It has built in subs at 6.5 inc diamiter for a but load of bass. The quality is just as good as it is turned way down or way up. This stereo is perfect If you like to bug your naibors with increadible sound !!!! The cd player dose not skip... One other great thing is the combonation of parts on the speaker. They are put together so you get great hi's and low's. It's got 240Watts...Also because it is Philips (an american product) you know it is going to last.

Summary: AMAZING SOUND
Review: I have had this stereo for 3 months now and I am extremely pleased with it. The sound output is magnificent and if you're like me and like to have alot of bass it features a max sound button. If not you can adjust the digital sound control and the virtual ambience control. In the digital sound control you have 6 choices. They are: digital, pop, classic, rock, newage, or electric. In the virtual ambience control the choices are: hall, cinema, arcade, concert, disco, or cyber. You can also hook it up to your game or a computer.
Overall i was extremely impressed with the product and would buy it again. I recommend this stereo to everyone.
