Summary: horrible customer service
Review: Although, the stereo was nice when working, it broke down after about 7 months. It has been sitting in the service center for five months with no action taken. I have called the service center five times and have called panasonic three times with no other action being taken. So not only am I out the stereo, but I also lost the five CD's that were loaded in the stereo as well. This qualifies as the worst customer service I have ever experienced!

Summary: Great looks matched by great sound
Review: I was first attracted to this unit by its really cool looks. Then I played it. I really liked the sound! Attaching subwoofers to the sides of the speaker cabinet was another tricked out feature that got my attention.

The trouble was, my budget was $150, and this was $200.

I ended up buying the Aiwa XR-M191 for $150. It has decent sound, but only a single CD player. Also, another feature it lacked that I realized only later I would've appreciated: you can't activate the sleep timer from the remote. But I digress, I'm reviewing the Panasonic...

I saw this for $99 refurbished and thought "what the hell..."

I am VERY glad I bought it, even if I now have a micro audio system surplus of one!

You will not be disappointed. It really is a beautiful unit from a design standpoint, and I'm a sucker for esthetics. The newer model, the PC28, doesn't have the elegance that this has.

I got it a couple of days ago and have been playing it incessantly. It rocks. Not much flexibility really with sound settings, but damn, it really just sounds good without having a bunch of EQ settings (it has three special settings, plus a separate special 'super sound' EQ setting that boosts everything). I have played it loud, and it fills my average-sized bedroom fine. No distortion that I can hear when played very loud.

OK, drawbacks. Nothing major. In comparison to the Aiwa, the remote compares UNfavorably in that all the buttons are same shape and size except for the 2 volume buttons. The AIWA's remote is designed well so that you can operate it by feel alone, as buttons have different shapes and orientations.

The sleep timer only works in increments of 30 minutes (the AIWA in increments of 5 ... this is the biggest drawback), and you can only operate this feature and other timer features with the remote.

The buttons on the main unit are, for once, simple to understand (definitely not the case with the AIWA.. which really began to piss me off as I had to find the manual anytime I wanted to do something that I hadn't done in a while, like reset the clock).
They are also oriented with esthetics in mind. I can't say enough about the looks of this system. The materials are also elegant, not cheezy at all. The picture can't do justice to the mirrored face.

Buy it. For $100? You will not be disappointed. It's a beautiful design. I have been buying Panasonic products since 1972 when I bought my first cassette deck. Even though they are not considered high end, I would have to say that they have been among the most consistently well-functioningand long-lasting electronics I have owned (I can't believe how long that cassette deck lasted...).
