The unit's 160 watts and bi-amplified speaker design ensure not just high power, but quality sound as well. And with a five-CD changer, dual-well cassette deck, and digital-synthesized FM/AM tuner, the SC-AK200 covers most musical fronts. The system's bi-amplified/bi-wired amp and speaker configuration uses separate amplifiers for the woofers and tweeters, eliminating interference between speaker drivers and helping the amplifiers perform more efficiently. The result is crisp, clear vocals and rich, taut bass from the unit's compact, sealed-enclosure speakers. Load up the SC-AK200's CD changer with as many as five discs and listen back in sequence, random play, repeat play, or programmed play--within each disc or across all discs. The player accommodates commercial CDs as well as home-brewed audio (not MP3-encoded) CD-R/CD-RWs. Panasonic's MASH (multistage noise-shaping technology) 1-bit digital-to-analog converter ensures optimal playback quality, while a programmable timer can be set to play, record, or turn off. The dual-well cassette deck may not be equipped with auto-reverse, but its feather-touch controls make playback a breeze, and the TPS (Tape Program Sensor) automatically adjusts to the type of tape being used.
