Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: Having been a fan of sony, it was not my idea to get into panasonic, but after testing various mini hi-fi systems in stores I decided to buy the SC-AK18 system, and now I can tell you that this is the best system for this range of prices($150-$200), the remote control is excellent, the sound is amazing for only being using a two way speaker system, I cannot find any weakness on the system if sound quality and a excellent price is your priority. I did read a review here in amazon telling that a sharp mini-system was better than the panasonic just because the sharp uses three way speakers. I did hear them both in a store playing the same cd's and always the panasonic has better sound.
Rating: Summary: excellent product Review: I have asian model of the SC-AK18. It has karaoke function which includes microphone volume and jack. I think the SC-AK18 is best cost performance audio system.
Rating: Summary: Gone Platinum** Review: I just purchsed the SC-AK18 in silver last night and I already have quite a few things to say about it. First off I have had a Panasonic boombox for 3-4 years and was getting tired of the soft fuzzy sound and simpleness thats why I wanted a stereo. I needed something that played LOUD music and had many options. I had done PLENTY of research on this item and other stereos for the last few days and found this one to be the most reasonable. Although you had the lowest price, you were out of stock and I couldnt last one more day. I ended up making the purchase at Best Buy even though it was the most money. Anyways on the pros and cons of the stereo.. PROS.. 5 CD Changer Double Tape Deck You can adjust how it sounds(Hall,Live,Soft,Heavy..) Presets Loud Speakers Cool Display CONS.. Slightly noisy and slow(but im already used to it)Overall I find this to be an awesome stereo and have no regrets!I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: I recently bought this sc-ak18 in the color black. It is lightweight and somewhat easy to use. I'll start with the good stuff. First of all the remote is small light and very easy to use and read. It has buttons for every feature including cd player, tae dack, and tuner. Another thing is if you like a good stereo with looks this is the one. The speakers are great speakers the produce crystel clear sound with out the metallic voice or crackling in the background. The speakers can be spread about the room so the sound is coming from various parts of the room and it doesn't look out of place. The bad thing about this though is there is a lot of buttons and you can't get away with out reading the manual . Once you know how to use it which takes ten minutes it becomes very easy to use and very great stereo for the price. I looked all round the web and this is the lowest price I saw. The other prices varied from 180-289 bucks. Great Buy and well worth it

Rating: Summary: It answers all my musical questions Review: I was looking for a compact system to replace my JVC that broke, taking 6 of my CDs hostage (had to unscrew cover and manually remove them!). This Panasonic cost about 1/2 as much as the JVC, and it sounds ten times better. Much clearer, more subtleties, even at lower volumes (I live in an apartment). The equalizer adjustments I made actually 'tailored' the sound to my musical tastes in a meaningful way. The system was very easy to set up and operate manually & with the remote. The control panel is flashier than I usually like (early Pac man in space), but it does display useful info about settings/modes in readable type and it's endeared itself to me by signing off with a 'GOODBYE' that runs off to one side. The only drawback: the CD mechanism clanks around inside when it accesses a disk, a bit of a nuisance if you're in all-disc random play. But all in all, I'm delighted with the system, its sound quality and the price--plus free shipping. For the price, I consider it a 5-star buy.
Rating: Summary: Compact quality with good looks and excellent cost. Review: The name Panasonic comes through with an excellent product and good looks to boot. After having purchased another product which failed miserably, I was very pleased with this model. It's specifications are very pleasing when compared with other models in this same class. The remote is easy to use and functions well. Set up is easy and is rewarded with good sound without even making adjustments to various settings. The only difficulty with it is attempting to use its MULTITUDE of electronic features, adjustments, and uses. Overall value for price is excellent.
Rating: Summary: Had it for a year and is great Review: This has great sound! I play cds practically 24/7 and it still works great. HOWEVER--IT HAS A VERY LOW HUM WHILE IN STANDBY SO DO OT BUT IT NEAR YOUR BED OR YOU WILL GO INSANE. ALSO THE CD CHANGER IS A LITTLE SLOW AND NOISY BUT STILL GREAT. PANASONIC IS STILL "SLIGHTLY AHEAD OF OUR TIME"

Rating: Summary: An excellent system at a low price Review: This is a great system ! It's got slick looks with a really cool front panel, sound quality is very good and has quite a lot of features packed into this price. The remote control is small and handy and you can do almost everything you could do at the system itself. One feature that "stands out" (!) about this system though, is the extraordinarily complex mechanism that seems to operate the cd changer. It appears to go through this incredibly long (and noisy !!) process before actually letting you change the CD. Also, it is not possible to change a CD while another is playing. Similarly the audio cassette player is slightly noisy (esp.when switching sides or ff/rev) This quirk about the CD changer is about the only thing that I found troublesome (though I am getting used to it !!). Also, for people who have trouble with digital equalizers, it might be a bit troublesome actually getting the hang of manually adjusting the sound quality. But the sound quality is great and it packs quite a bit of power into the 4 channel speakers. I havent actually played it at full blast yet, for fear of the neighbors. All in all, a wonderful system with a lot of features one would need to pay ... more for in other systems. Just remember to get used to the cd-changer !
