Summary: The Absolute Best Movie You Will Ever Find and Watch!
Review: I first got interested in watching figure skating about 2 years ago. One night, I had to chose between this movie and a figure skating competition. I chose to watch the competition and went to look at my TV Guide to see when the movie would show again. About 6 months later I watched the movie on TV and halfway through I realized that it had been a big mistake on my part not to tape it. After that, knowing that TV presentations cut out soe of the movie for commercials, I went to buy the video. I watched the darn thing an average of 3 times a day for the next 3 weeks. God it was addicting. I bought the soundtrack not so long ago and have been listening to it while I watch the movie. D.B Sweeney and Moira Kelly do a great job on the screen. I wish some professional figure skaters would try to do the "Pamchienko Twist". I especially love the part in the movie when Doug disses Mozart. I also crack up every time when I see the part where Doug is all throwing up at Nationals. You gotta go watch this movie at least once. I guarantee that you will never be able to just watch it once. TOEPICK!!!!!!!

Summary: A classic! Don't miss it!
Review: This "Taming of the Shrew" love story has been done so many times -- in both the original Shakespeare and the musical "Kiss Me Kate" to name a few. Yet this adaption, which moves the feuding couple "Kate and Doug" to the high-stress world of championship figure-skating, is probably one of the best incarnations of the volatile sexual tension which inevitably evolves into understanding and love. The two stars absolutely shine (and are ultimately much more likable than Kate and Petruchio too).

As so many reviewers before have mentioned, "The Cutting Edge" manages to reach both its male and female audience with equal impact, both the ice-hockey and figure-skating sequences are very believable, and the relationship of the two characters is fresh and engaging. Director Paul Micheal Glaser certainly seems to have a knack for extracting great emotional truth from his cast. Visually and dramatically, the movie is very well crafted. Watch for Glaser's cameo as the tailor in the costume fitting scene.

It's a shame that "The Cutting Edge" receives so little coverage. It is an absolute classic!

Summary: FUN FOR ALL!!
Review: This movie is great for all ages and sexes. D.B. Sweeney portrays the typical working man on the street and Moira Kelley is just a perfect snob!! This movie has it all, fights, family problems, and yes, even LOVE!! By the end you will like it so much that what happens just no longer matters.

Summary: A wonderful love story portrayed by two very fine actors!
Review: Sweeney's "Doug" is great, and Kelly's "Kate" is fabulous. Their performances rate right up there with Grant and Kerr in "An Affair To Remember". In time, I believe "The Cutting Edge" will also become a Classic . Personally, I lost count of the number of times I have watched the film. In fact, I not only bought a copy for myself, but I also bought copies for all of my grandchildren. Why? Because it is a very beautiful story about two young people who have faith in themselves, and are willing to do whatever it takes to make their dreams come true. "Somewhere in the middle of all of " it, you fall in love with Doug and Kate -- like you once felt for Tracy and Hepburn, and you get caught up in their quest. You also find yourself crazy about their coach, Anton. It is a film you will want to watch over and over again just because it makes you feel so darn good every time you watch it. A SAD Note: I was so taken with Sweeney that I looked for his other films. Believe me I was shocked! The pickens are truly pitiful. I have come to the conclusion that Sweeney is a good actor with the ability and talent to deliver some very fine roles, BUT he must have the very worst agent there is in Hollywood! Whoever that person is, hasn't the faintest clue of the caliber of actor they are handling. And, the properties they have found for him -- save this film and two others -- are a reflection of their ineptness in their field. My hope is that some director will soon recognize that Sweeney has all the makings of a "young Jimmey Stewart" and find better properties for him. See the movie -- You'll love it!

Summary: I wonder if Moira and D.B. ever had an "offscreen" romance
Review: I LOVE this movie. I have seen it at least 25 times. I have often wondered if Moira and D.B. ever had an offscreen romance since their onscreen chemistry seemed soooo real. At the end I wish there had been some "still shots" (frequently done at the end of movies today) of "what happened next" after the kiss. Did they win the gold? Did they get married? I love this movie.

Summary: Inpiring and Makes you believe that you can do anything
Review: I love this movie. After seeing it in the movie theater the first week it came out, I took up Competetive Figure Skating. Now at 14, I have won many medals in the Junior Olympics and I am going to compete in a New England's championship. The best skaters from CT, NY, VT, MA, NH, RI, ME are going to be there. I represent CT. This movie taught me that nothing is impossible! GO AND GET THE MOVIE!

Summary: One of the Best Romances of All Times
Review: I have seen this movie about ten times and I find something new everytime I watch it. I absolutely rate it as one of the best romances EVER, primarily due to the sexy and delicious portrayals of D.B. Sweeney and Moira Kelly. These two have the best onscreen chemistry I've ever seen. And D.B. Sweeney is majorly sexy and alluring in this one. It definitely puts me in the mood for love and gives me hope of finding that special person. It's the sexiest movie I've ever seen - and it has NO sex! TOO BAD!!

Summary: The sweetest of love stories that you'll watch over & over.
Review: I was so pleased to see the other reviewers felt the way I did about this sappy movie. The chemistry between Kate and Doug is so realistic and the ice skating is excellent. I can watch this movie anytime, again and again and never get sick of it.
