Rating: Summary: Recommended all experience levels Review: This is not a lesson in jumping, spinning or flying kicks used by Jackie Chan or seen in the movies. This lesson focuses on 5 types of kicks; front, side, roundhouse, back and reverse roundhouse. All of Sensei Dalke's lessons spend a great deal of time with explaining the how and why of what to do, this DVD is no exception. It begins with a brief explanation of what is needed in all kicks to insure maximum stability and power. Next is a definition of the two types of kicking in karate, thrusting and snapping. The whole time he is explaining the techniques Mr. Dalke is also providing demonstrations as well. This DVD offers outstanding lessons not only for a beginner wanting to learn from a top instructor but also provide an experienced student more knowledge of the why's behind what we do. And for someone helping to teach, this is a great lesson on how to instruct others in the basics as well as the finer points of kicking. Any negatives are strictly on the production end of the DVD itself. Sometimes the sound is not all that clear but not so bad that you can't understand it. It kind of comes across as a very talented amateur or a not so professional, professional. But this seems to be a trait with this particular production company. Don't let this discourage you from purchasing this however. The information is first rate and will be a useful reference for years to come.
