Rating: Summary: Piece of junk Review: I bought this VCR in 2/02. Within 1 month, it stopped recording audio but continued recording video. I had it repaired at a RCA service center and all was fine with that for about a year. Then the same problem. RCA refuses to help since it is out of warranty even though it is exactly the same problem which occurred before. Also, the commercial advance is very moody. It works when it feels like it and doesn't when it doesn't want to.
Rating: Summary: Completely Satisfied! Review: I bought two of these VCRs mostly because I was being influenced by the price, now when I got them, I was not dissapointed at all, I just loved the Movie and Commercial advance feature. It is really easy to use, it is pretty light and small, so you wouldn't have too much of a problem carrying it around. Excellent product.
Rating: Summary: Decent, but be careful about claims that it is "HI-FI" Review: They advertise this VCR as "4 HEAD HI-FI". This is NOT the case and thank heavens that Amazon does not do the same. I kept this item for a few weeks and then returned it, partly because it was false-advertised, but also because it contributed a little distortion to my audio system when I cranked up the volume a little bit. Also, the LED display on the front tilted to one side, which didn't give me confidence in how it was constructed. I know...it's a cheap VCR with nice features. But it's poorly built, feels ultra cheap, and does not have "HI-FI" Stereo sound like other VCR's in its price range do. But if you really want VCR+ and commercial skip, go for it. I opted for a Sony model in the end.

Rating: Summary: Great Linear Sound VCR from RCA Review: This Champaign colored VCR is a beauty. It records excellent looking crisp pictures. Digital tracking is employed on playback for picture perfection. It records in both SP and EP(SLP) modes. It also offers 'Commercial Advance and Movie Advance' for quick que-up. A very good value for the money all around. The only poor feature is that it does not record in HiFi, but the excellent picture makes up for that.
Rating: Summary: A VCR that Shines Review: This is one quality VCR for the price. I've owned more expensive VCR's, but this gem delivers a picture quality so clear and crisp its breathtaking. The unit seems sturdy and well-built, and is easy to use. I had some reservations about the silverish-goldish color based on the photo here, but it looks much better in the flesh. You'd be hard pressed to find a better value in this price class.

Rating: Summary: Great Value For The Money Review: This RCA VCR is a great value for the money. Within two or three minutes it connected easily to my TV. I liked the set-up options - you can either let the VCR do all the programming, let the VCR do some of the programming and you do the some of the programming, or you can do all the programming yourself. The price and the commercial skip option were the main reasons I selected this particular VCR to purchase. I have not been able to make the commerical skip option work yet. However, I will try this feature again later as I'm sure I'm not doing something correctly. The only thing I don't like about this model of VCR is the colors used. I have a black TV and thought the gold color of the this RCA VCR would look good with it. Instead, it looks a bit odd. Also, the crayon colors on the VCR's remote control are a bit distracting. However, if you aren't the type that tries to color match/color coordinate your home, this VCR can't be beat.
Rating: Summary: Commercial Advance and Movie Advance make this very cool! Review: Two features make this attractive for frequent time shifters (timer record and watch later) and frequent tape renters. Commercial Advance works to "eliminate" (kind of) commercials from shows that you tape via Timer Recording (set manually or via VCR Plus) or via fixed time recording (start immediately and record for 30 to 240 minutes). After the recording, the unit rewinds and marks commercials so that when the user plays back the tape later, the machine will automatically speed search through those segments (user can select between a blank blue background and seeing the speed search during commercial skipping). This is much nicer than having to speed through the commercials manually and then having to go back when you overshoot the ending. This is not a fixed length skip (it's not just speeding ahead a couple of minutes), but is reading the commercial signals embedded in the broadcast, so it will do short commercial breaks as well as longer ones (great for those cable networks who run long blocks of ads -- e.g. MTV). This feature is so nice that I actually found myself doing more time-shifting for the convenience and time savings from shorter commercial breaks. In my initial experiences, the system works very well. Of my first ten tries, all worked (wide variety of network and cable programming) with the only failure coming from Jeopardy (though other syndicated programs work fine). Movie advance works similarly, but allows the viewer to pop in a prerecorded cassette and skip through all the previews if desired. This worked well on the three rentals I've made which included both movies as well as stand-up comedy. My only negatives on the machine are that the immediate timed recording feature only goes to 240 minutes (kind of antiquated in an age of 6 hr. tapes and disappointing if you want to tape the Godfather saga on cable and avoid the ads) and that the cool lighted remote didn't control my particular brand of TV. For a low-priced unit, this is very cool! (it also comes on some of the higher and lower end RCA models, I think).
