Rating: Summary: absolute junk Review: Couldn't be more unreliable. It malfunctions frequently, mangling tapes, sometimes severely. If you value your tapes, don't even think about this one.
Rating: Summary: Great Product for the price Review: I needed a VCR for a rental property I own. I wanted something low cost, easy to use, that would hold up. I have had no compliants and it is holding up to a various people using it.
Rating: Summary: Videophile Review: Nice basic VCR. Definitely a good buy in this price range.
Rating: Summary: Decent for the price Review: The reason I bought this VCR was the price and because I own a Phillips Magnavox TV. On the plus side, I can control the TV with the VCR remote. This VCR plays tapes, the response is slow and there is no easy way to adjust the tracking using the remote. Shop around unless you already own a TV by the same manufacturer.
Rating: Summary: I am still excited at having got this vcr at such a price Review: The same vcrs are selling in local stores for over 100.00 to have got mine at the price listed made me more than happy even before vcr arrived..Upon reciving the vcr the kids took it over and i have 4 boys so if it can last through them then i would say it has been put to the test..And we have had no problems what so ever out of it...I have to admit it is not a 4 head but knew that when buying but for a standard 2 head vcr it does realy well great picture wonderful onscrean programing and guess what guys how you couldnt plug cable in back before they have gotten smart and made a cut out on the side that cable goes into the back and it is so much easier to plug/screw the cable in now..that was a big plus all on its own,,,so if had to do over again i would not hessitate to buy this great vcr again
Rating: Summary: Not a good bet Review: This is a low-end unit that might be suitable for a second set (such as a childs room). The auto-tracking is unreliable, it has lots of problems playing rental tapes and I find the remote clunky. Definitely look at a unit further up the quality scale if this is to be your primary VCR.
Rating: Summary: Buyer Beware Review: We ordered two of the Philips Magnavox VRA211AT VCR's -- and had to return both! Although we were able to get really nice video in the beginning on the second one, it only lasted for less than an hour. Subsequent attempts to play tapes gave us only a bright blue screen and audio. The units also refused to give back tapes. (On the first unit we purchased we never did get video, only audio.) On the bright side, the unit was (nicely)lightweight, straightforward, installation was simple enough for a small child, and the remote was very easy to use. But, overall, I wouldn't recommend this model in terms of reliability. (Amazon staff was helpful, understanding and professional -- a pleasure to deal with! )
