Rating: Summary: What happened to the sound? Review: I bought one of these for my kids for Christmas and the first time we plugged it in, the sound kept going out on the video - we had to keep turning the player on and off to recapture the sound. So I sent it back and bought one in the store (Best Buy) - a Phillips, also. The same thing is happening. All this trouble for what? I should have spent twenty or thirty dollars more and gotten something much more worthwhile.

Rating: Summary: Philips 4-Head VCR Review: I don't have it yet, but I am about to! A friend of mine had one and it was so great that I am about to purchase it. It is a supurbly great deal for what you get. The picture is always beautiful and clear, even with older VHS tapes. There are never any problems, it is very user-friendly and works great with other electronic items. In an age where new media and DVD's are taking over, it's nice to see there is still attention to detail and quality on these 'old-school' type products. I have a DVD player currently, and I never had any intention of buying a VCR, but this product changed my mind. It is definitely comperable. My DVD player is also Philips, and I have a high level of confidence in this manufacturer. This VCR comes highly recommended, try it and see. You'll be convinced of it's outstanding quality, as I was!
Rating: Summary: down with Philips Review: I just want to say that 2 and a half years ago I bought another Philips-Magnavox VCR (model VRX242AT) which broke down last month. I think 2 and a half years is just not enough. I will never buy Philips again.
Rating: Summary: Cheap Price = Cheap Product Review: The old adage is true...you really do get what you pay for. After 5 short months the tape sensor went bad on this unit, trapping a cassette inside and rendering the device useless. Labor cost would be almost as much as I paid for this although the part is warranty. My advise is to spend a little more for a more reliable machine.
