Rating: Summary: don't waste your money Review: Great SVCR. Bad stuff: Like all SVHS VCRs other VHS decks cannot read the tape. Does not do "auto commercial advance". It worked great for time shifting until I got TIVO. It has a much better picture than standard VHS. I planned on dubbing some tapes but never got around to it. This is one of three SVHS VCRs that sit. It will change channels on your cable box and is great for editing and very easy to program. I did run some of my Hi8 camcorder tapes out to it until I found my friends could not read the tape. All my VCRs are SVSH so now I just buy more 8 mm tapes and use the camcorder to play them. Everything is so integrated it feels like an empty plastic box but works Feature list: With high resolution Super VHS and VHS recording, VCR Plus+, Child Lock, Insert Editing with Flying Erase Head, Audio Dubbing, and Express Programming features, the JVC model HR-S5900U offers just what every TV fanatic needs. A front S-Video input simplifies connecting a camcorder, and special A/V Compu Link provides one-touch operation with matching JVC components.

Rating: Summary: Jvc Vhs Vcr Review: The Jvc Vcr That I Have Now Is Wearing Out But That's Not Going To Stop Me From Enjoying The Use Of A Vcr But I Like The Dvd Player As Well
Rating: Summary: don't waste your money Review: This is the first and last JVC product I will ever buy. I have had it 2 months and still can't get it to function properly. I bought it for specific features that JVC advertises, none of which work. It says you can tape one channel while watching another- didn't work. They have you send away for a "cable eye" (which I assumed would fix the problem - it didn't) which takes 3 weeks to get to you, (by then the time limit for sending the vcr back for a full refund was exceeded - very convenient). The so-called "customer service" is a joke (plan to sit with the phone to your ear for 30 minutes)and when they do answer you get a recording about how your call is being taped/monitored FOR LEGAL PURPOSES! This alone should tell you what they are up to. When I finally talked to someone he told me that the tape-one-channel-watch-another function doesn't work if you have a cable box!! I bought the thing because it was advertised to program both the vcr and the black box with one VCR+ number!! Not only that, the plug-and-play and the auto-clock-settings don't work. When I first came to this web site there was a review similar to mine on it and I stupidly bought the thing anyway. Don't throw your money down the toilet on this one!
