Rating: Summary: good vcr Review: Great VCR. Good quality picture for VHS. Why would a VCR have DVD connections? Most DVDs are encoded with Macrovision anti-copy process. This would mean that DVD viewed through ANY VCR would produce poor picture. Nothing wrong with this VCR!
Rating: Summary: A Step Above Review: I bought a Panasonic and returned it. The Sony just works much better -- the remote works great and is intuitive. The VCR has a high quality feel all around, fits nicely with my stereo, and has a list of great features. Oh, and the picture (even in slow motion) is crystal clear.
Rating: Summary: Great picture but no replacement parts available Review: I have had this VCR for several months now and have enjoyed it since the day I bought it and hooked it up. The sound and picture quality are excellent. After a few months of moderate use (weekend movies, etc.), the power supply started acting up. The VCR has continuously reset itself while in use (losing channel information, clock settings, etc.) then locks up (needing to be unplugged to reset). I have turned it in for service, only to be told that the repair costs are greater than the cost of a replacement (thanks for the 90 day warranty, Sony). This is my second Sony VCR. The first lasted three years. With the rapid death of this one, I am giving up on the Sony Brand. Anyone have any good suggestions?
Rating: Summary: dis vcr rulez!!! Review: i received this as a gift and boy was i pleased. because i didn't pay for it? no! because it's a bomb vcr, that's why! great picture and sound quality from things i've recorded, and a classy looking unit!
Rating: Summary: It's a sony! Review: I've been without a vcr for a couple of months and have been reading different reviews. I have always like sony, but after reading some reviews I was worried about this model. I went for it anyway and am very pleased. Best I have ever had and very easy to set up. It's does have a cable mouse that you can get for about $20 and that let's you record with dss and cable box's while useing your timer. You can't do that with most vcr's so I thought that was a nice option. Anyway the picture is great, it's easy to hook up, and has some nice options. I'm tickled!
Rating: Summary: A bust! Review: I've hooked up lots of VCRs and this is the only one that wanted a cable mouse! What the heck is that? 2-4 weeks to get one. Nothing worked as described in the manual. I wanted a Sony but I've got a learning disability and I couldn't figure this out. Neither could my wife who has a 4 year computer science degree. And no you skeptics, our clocks don't flash 12 at the house.
