Rating: Summary: Very Bad Choice Review: Extremely bad performer. Rejects tapes on random basis. Very poor picture on LP or SLP. After about 10 minutes of recording, picture goes "hay wire" (acts like the tracking goes out). This is, in my opinion, the worst VCR that Panasonic has ever produced and I have 4 Panasonic VCR's in the house. ...
Rating: Summary: Junk! Do not waste your money on this VCR Review: I bought this VCR (PV-V4622) based on Panasonics reputation. I did look at other brands but thought that I could not go wrong Panasonic; was I ever wrong. Right out of the box this thing gave me problems. The tapes had to be inserted just right or they would not play. The fast rewind/forward worked only now and then. Also, the commercial skip only worked for tapes recorded on that VCR. So, when you would fast-forward over commercials and pushed play to resume your show, it was very slow to return to normal play. You would have to guess when the commercial is over otherwise you would miss a portion of the show. Very obnoxious! One time, a tape jammed in the VCR and since then if you did not put the tape in ever-so-careful, it would cut the tape. I have had 4 tapes ruined by this (these were Disney movies) so today I threw it in the trash where it belongs. Panasonic has discontinued this product rather than recall. As for me, it will be difficult for Panasonic to renew my trust and have me invest my money in their products. If you are considering this VCR, do yourself a favor and look at some other model; this one is pure junk.
Rating: Summary: major disappointment Review: I had not read other reviews of this VCR before purchasing it, since in the past my Panasonic VCRs have been great - this was clearly a mistake. First, out of the box, it sometimes took up to five attempts before it would accept a tape, and now it won't even accept some at all (the same tapes are no problem in my other Panasonic/Sony/JVC VCRs). Second, the quality of the recorded picture in EP mode is almost unwatchable - lots of "snow" and static. By the time we gave up on it, it was too late to send back to Amazon, and now Panasonic wants [$] to repair it! I've already purchased a Sony replacement that works great, and this one (my last Panasonic) is headed for the ....
Rating: Summary: Paul Gallagher Review: I liked the feature of Commercial Advance, and was willing to pay extra for this. However, on playback, I get awful audio noise. Also, Video playback is poor at times. I would have sent it back if I hadn't accidently disposed of packing materials.

Rating: Summary: Sorry I bought it Review: I've been buying Panasonic VCR's since they dropped below $1000. Most have had the Dynamorphous Metal Head and recorded better precision than my TV could display. Playbacks were indistinguishable from live TV. Not so this piece of junk. It apparently has a cheap head that delivers a fuzzy picture filled with color noise. The remote is totally illogical and extremely difficult to use.The commercial skip is nice and so is the fast rewind. But, perhaps because it is so light (full of plastic?), it is very noisy, particularly on rewind. One has to also wonder what the fast rewind does to the tapes. Don't waste your money.
Rating: Summary: Junk Review: I've owned Panasonic VCRs for years and always been very happy with them...until this one. I got it today and I'm going to return it tomorrow. Horrible remote makes no sense, very noisy unit. Worst of all I was trying to record some tapes in SLP mode, when I went to check them the picture was worthless, kept rolling like the tracking was off, but I couldn't track the picture back in. The SP mode worked fine, but man, what a piece...wish I could rate it zero stars
Rating: Summary: Stay away from the current generation vcrs. Review: It's a coin toss these days. Most new VCRs are of very poor quality, even the previously reliable work-horses like Panasonic used to be. This one is no exception.. In short - junk. This Panasonic PV-V4622 didn't work straight from the box, much like all other reviewers stated. I exchanged it for a sturdier-looking Sony, but my hopes are not very high.
Rating: Summary: major disappointment Review: My Panasonic PV-V4612S was purchased at Circuit City in Aug 02. I like the color (silver; better visibility, matches my TV) and the remote (good feel, AA batteries, easy access to FF/Stop keys). I also like the display which shows time when not in use as well as if a tape is loaded. The commercial advance is a great convenience when it works (approx. 80%). When it doesn't work it fails by ending the FF too soon. The biggest disappointment is the sound of the head rotor. It is LOUD. I've noticed some reviewers say that it is quiet. The one on display in the store seemed quiet but that was in a large noisy store. Mine is LOUD. This may vary from vcr to vcr but this is one of Panasonic's best machines. I ended up building a cabinet to put it in so now it is less loud. Finally, the recorder function works poorly at LP speed. In particular, there are horizontal white speckles accross the screen. I have an older Panasonic PV-4617 which runs much quieter and I am quite satisfied with. For that reason I selected a new Panasonic VCR. One would think that they would take more pride in their product since their reputation is one of their best selling points.
