Rating: Summary: picture went away after a few months Review:
I bought this vcr and after a few months, the picture output was gone. I could get a picture on the tv when the vcr was off, but not when it was on, even on videos. I tried changing cables, making sure the channel was set right, but nothing happened. It would occasionally give me a picture after flipping channels or turning the machine on and off a few times. Was a good machine when it worked.
Rating: Summary: Pretty good for the money Review: As I write this, VCR's are going the way of the 8 track tape. Prices having been dropping on VCR's the past few years and, alas, so has the quality of the machines. For (the cost), this is a decent VCR. There are probably better ones out there, but certainly much worse. This machine is definitely better than the dreadful JVC S-VHS I had previously, and it was supposed to be "high-end". The Panasonic is currently the only VCR I use, and it works well for rented tapes, and works adequately for taping shows. Before buying, I was a little worried about how the sound would be considering it is not stereo. It sounds fine, and I really don't notice that much of a difference between the sound on this machine and previously owned stereo VCR's.I've owned the PV-4022 for several months now, and it has given me no problems.
Rating: Summary: Good basic recorder Review: Bought this model for our kitchen's tiny TV. Combination VCR/DVD players have largely taken over the market, but its nice to know that a basic VCR player at a low price is still available (especially one that records at the LP setting) when that is all you need.
Rating: Summary: Very pleased! Review: I considered buying a more expensive machine, but then realized that all I really needed was something on which our children could play their movies (it's all about the kids these days!). Having said that, this appeared to do what we needed and the price certainly was right. Had no problems getting the machine hooked up and find that it is very easy to operate with the tv. If you're looking for a no nonsense, basic machine, look no further! (The one complaint I have is that the buttons on the remote are quite small, but that's a minor complaint).
Rating: Summary: Good inexpensive VCR Review: I don't use this often, but it works fine without problems for what I do. I've bought Panasonlic VCR's before, and have been so happy with them I decided to stay with them.

Rating: Summary: Ate my tapes.......... Review: I had a lot of problems with this VCR. It had a tendency to be picky about which kinds of cassettes it would accept, and more often than not, would just spit them back out. It finally broke down after less than two years, not accepting any cassettes at all, but still managing to chew up the tape inside. Grrrrrrrrr.............
Rating: Summary: Very good low-budget VCR Review: I recently replaced my deceased TV and antiquated VCR on the same day (and also acquired my first-ever DVD player), and, as always, I did a fair amount of consumer research before laying out my money. This model got good reviews in a number of print and online sources, and BEST'S had it on sale, so the decision wasn't difficult. It set up and attached to the TV and my cable with a minimum of fuss -- and I was delighted with the feature that allows it to set the time by itself! (Okay, I'm not much of an "early adopter.") In the three months I've had it, I've played probably 30 videos, both my own and multiple-rentals from Blockbuster, and it has performed flawlessly. I've only recorded programs a few times (I work from home so I don't often need to), and the results seemed quite satisfactory. On the other hand, I don't have pretensions to anything approaching a home theater system, so I'm probably not pushing this machine's limits. But if you're looking for a very competent, very affordable VCR and you don't need a lot of bells and whistles, I highly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: Great VCR for the money. Review: I was just looking for a second VCR and didn't want to spend alot of money since I was just gonna use it to record shows and watch them in the bedroom. I found this little gem and am very pleased with it. My favorite feature is the way it slows down when you are rewinding a tape. This is nice feature to have especially when my last VCR (which cost 3 times as much) ate 6 tapes is a week. The only problems I had were that it was a little confusing trying to get the VCR cable ready and trying to set the timer to record a show. Now that I have done it a few times, setting the timer is a piece of cake. The only other problem I have had is sometimes you have to shut everything off or the VCR gets stuck on wrong channell and all you get is snow. Not sure it does that, but it doesn't happen often. As for any of the other features, I don't know as I just use it mostly for recording and watching what I record, but for the money, it's a great second VCR.
Rating: Summary: good basic vcr Review: In a couple of years I'll probably be buying a dvd recorder but in the meantime I needed an inexpensive (yet reliable) vcr. This fit the bill. It records at 3 speeds (lp, sp, and slp) and does a pretty good job even at the SLP mode. It was simple to hook up and get started with. The rewind is a little noisy but no big deal.
