Description:
The perfect recording, editing, and playback tool for MiniDV fans rooted in the VHS world, JVC's HR-DVS2U blends MiniDV recording and playback abilities with high-quality S-VHS and standard VHS recording and playback, providing the utmost in flexibility, convenience, and economy. You can use the HR-DVS2U to enjoy your MiniDV camcorder cassettes, to perform MiniDV to S-VHS/VHS dubbing, to perform digital archiving (S-VHS/VHS to MiniDV), and as a computer peripheral for nonlinear editing via its IEEE-1394 connection. The unit provides 500 lines of horizontal resolution with the DV format and over 400 lines of horizontal resolution with Super VHS. The deck executes insert editing with a flying erase head, an extra video head that erases the video signal during editing. It's designed to produce seamless edits and smooth, invisible transitions from one scene to the next. Also included is JVC's DigiPure Technology (with 4 MB frame memory), a suite of features including Super VHS ET (Expansion Technology) recording with a TBC (Time Base Corrector) that digitally removes jitter from fluctuating video signals to deliver a stable picture--even on old tapes. TBC also eliminates color distortion caused by jitter in the color signal. You also get PCM digital audio (with MiniDV recording) and hi-fi VHS stereo. Using Active Video Calibration, an intelligent IC automatically judges head condition to maintain original performance, also judging tape quality to maximize potential of tape being used. The JVC-developed SVHS ET allows the broader-bandwidth Super-VHS signal to be recorded on affordable, standard VHS tapes. For connections, the HR-DVS2U offers front- and rear-panel S-video inputs, and two rear-panel S-video outputs. The gold-plated front-panel inputs offer optimum connections with camcorders and gaming consoles. In addition, the system provides easy editing, one-touch dubbing, VCR Plus with Cable Eye cable box control (Cable Eye free upon request from JVC), express programming (just press the start, stop, date, and channel buttons), and one-year/12-event (6 events each for miniDV and S-VHS/VHS) programmable timer. Another cool feature is auto index and index search. What's in the Box VCR, remote control, remote batteries, a user's manual, a Cable Eye certificate, and warranty information.
