Rating: Summary: Quality control is not evident in this model Review: We bought this unit as a Christmas gift from a national electronics chain. The unit refused to load any VHS tapes! The DVD player worked ok. I was not impressed with the remote. The unit was returned for full credit. I found a Broksonic model at CC and I am very pleased with it. Not the glitz of the Panasonic but it loads tapes!
Rating: Summary: I wanted to love it. Review: We were given this unit as a gift and were thrilled with it at first. It hooked up VERY easily and worked right away. We'd never had a DVD player before so were delighted with the picture quality and all the nice bells & whistles you get with DVD but which we'd never seen before. The VCR worked well too...on some of our tapes. Not all though. Our 3.5 year-old son has a pretty good collection of VHS tapes and the older ones seemed to work just fine--except for one tape. Several of his newest tapes (from Christmas) didn't work either. We'd try to put them in, and they'd get spit right back out. Over and over and over. The place we'd bought it was no help technical support-wise so we returned it.My mother has the same unit and has also experienced the same problem. I expect she'll be returning hers before long. If you can get past the spitting-out-tapes problem, it seemed like a really nice machine. And it was a lot easier to deal with than the DVD player I'm currently trying to install!
