Rating: Summary: SIMPLE! Review: Quick, fast and simple to use. Just plug in, as stated in the back of the machine, and you are all set. It is that easy. Excellent picture quality.
Rating: Summary: DVD/VCR combo technology is far from being perfected Review: The unit is definitely exceptional when it comes to being eye candy and it's considerably convienient for people like me who can't stand clutter. When I had the DVD/VCR hooked up to my big screen entertainment center, I had very little complaints other than the remote is complicated and the process can be frustrating. It also worked well with my Adelphia Digital Cable. Then I made the mistake of hooking it up to my bedroom television (A new Philips 32 inch flat screen) and it's been a disaster. I never noticed how incredibly loud and annoying the sound that this combo emits when hooked up to a smaller television. Even on the highest volume, the sound is dull and the unit actually hums. It's not the TV because when I watch cable, the sound is crystal clear. I tried cleaning the CD lens with one of those disc cleaners many times but to no avail. Also, various repairmen have claimed that it's just the product's quality and not a defect. I hooked it up to a few other high quality TVs around the house (ranging from 19 inches to 53 inches) and the sound doesn't waver...it's a nightmare.
Rating: Summary: I have taken 2 of these back... Review: I bought one of these for my wife on Mothers Day. The reviews were fantastic and this sounded like a winner. However, I took the first one back the next dat because sometimes when the tracks on the dvd switched, the screen would pixelate and skip part of a scene. This did not happen regularly. But it was very noticeable and happened several times during the movie. I am takeing our second one back today. Hopefully, third times a charm....
Rating: Summary: Great Machine!! Review: Real good machine for those who want to up grade to DVD but also do not want to get rid of their VHS Tapes. Also for those who do not have enough room for three or four pieces of equipment to play movies and CD's.
Rating: Summary: Very Nice Unit! Review: I have had the V2000 for about 3 weeks and have had no problems at all with this unit. The DVD spins quietly, (much quieter than my old JVC unit) the VCR plays smoothly, rewinds unbelievably fast and the remote does everything. My only complaint is that I've seen slightly better quality with VCR recordings, but it's hardly noticeable.
Rating: Summary: Samsung DVD/VCR/MP3 combo Unit Review: I absolutely love the Samsung DVD-2000 player !!It is so easy to connect to your TV.... it combines so many different functions into one unit. You can use it to play DVD's, to play and record VHS tapes, to listen to CD's in a variety of formats including my own CD's recorded on my iBook in MP3 format. We love the DVD-2000 so much that we just ordered a second unit to put in our camper for times when we're traveling away from home. It's an attractive, multi-functional, easy to use player that anyone would enjoy owning.
Rating: Summary: Bad DVD decoding... Review: When I bought this I was looking for the DVD player but figured what the heck, why not replace my VCR too? I read a lot of reviews of the unit before I bought it with the vast majority being positive but now when I look for reviews I see mostly negative ones... and I'm going to have to add another one to the list. The unit is fairly feature packed as far as inputs, outputs, and options go and I haven't had any problems with it being excessively noisy that I see frequently complained about... Actually the VCR portion of it is excellent compared to my last few VCRs. The "universal" remote forgets my TV every few days, sometimes multiple times a day, but this is a minor problem after I memorized my TV's code. My only REAL gripe with the unit is the DVD playback... It sucks! On at least half of my DVDs I get frequent skipping, pausing, and freezing usually followed by the audio getting out of synch with the video and with the other (good) half it's rare if I get through a movie without at least one problem. I have to stop and play the DVD again to resynch it. This is unacceptable... When I buy a DVD player, it should, at minimum, be able to CORRECTLY PLAY DVDS?!$!!11 I've been using my Xbox (which shines in comparison - ironic since most people consider it a poor player even considering it's lack of progressive scan output!) I should have brought it back as soon as I noticed the problem but for some reason I was in denial about my new purchase and decided to keep it. Now I'm pretty worried about replacing it and buying another lemon of DVD player. When I do I'll probably just throw this one in the garbage where it belongs. Stay away.
Rating: Summary: Worst electronics purchase EVER Review: I would like to return this to Best Buy and light it on fire on their front steps.
The spinning cd motor can be heard through the auxilliary outputs. DVD's are unplayable. The remote is horrible. We need a class action suit.
Rating: Summary: Our Unit IS No Lemon! Review: I liked the idea of it. I never used it much for the DVD but when I did, it would give a high pitched squeal. This would last about 5 or 10 minutes. I couldn't tell if it was because the machine warmed up or if my head just got used to it. (My hearing is 20/20.) The VCR picture was ok for pre-recorded tapes or tapes I made with another machine. However, the picture developed a jitter when viewing shows it taped itself. Also, the remote control never worked right. Some of the buttons didn't work. I sent the remote back to Samsung Repair and they sent it back unfixed. They said there was corrosion, but it worked for them. They said I should think about buying a new one. It still didn't work for me but I programmed my One4all to operate the machine. Eventually, I just took it back to the store and got a Sony DVD-VCR Combo to replace it. SLV-D300-P. So far so good. It is very similar in style and programming to the Samsung. It was most likely made by the same manufacturer.
