Summary: Choke Is A Must See For Any Mixed Martial Arts Fan!
Review: This is by far one of the best videos I have ever seen on the topic of Mixed Martial Arts. If your looking for a behind the scenes look at the Gracie Family and overall Vale Tudo then this is the movie to buy. You will get to see Rickson fight in the Japan Vale Tudo Tournament '95, practicing his technique with legendary Grandmaster of the Gracie Family Helio Gracie, clips from his last fight in Rio against Zulu, and much more.

This video also shows 2002 Olympic Bobsled Silver Medalist Todd Hayes as he competes in the tournament to fund his Bobsledding dream. Along with Japanese fighter Koichiro Kimura who is fighting the tournament with the hopes of meeting the legendary Rickson Gracie. You will get to see what these men go through before, during, and after the tournament. I give the movie 5 Stars....

Summary: Rickson Gracie, just one reason to buy this movie
Review: This movie is exactly what the american public needs to see! They don't respect our sport, its sometimes dubbed as being "so brutal its nauseating".The movie shows it not just dumb weight lifters who jump in a cage and beat the hell out of each other.Men who have trained most of their lives, dedicated to their disipline need somewhere to show their skill. They turn to the world of NHB combat. This movie depicts the best fighters(although i share the same feelings with others reviwers about Todd Hayes and Koichiro Kimura not being as great as they are showed to be)talking about training, their feelings about fighting, their art, even dying in the ring.If your a fan of NHB combat or Rickson Gracie this video is a must see!

Summary: great movie
Review: This superb documentary shows the why Rickson Gracie is such a
successful and impressive martial artist. An examination of the
lifestyle - including diet, stretching and breathing exercises, meditation,
fight strategy, workouts, and family commentaries - which allow one
to view the day to day preparation of this legendary fighter.
Similarly, we see up close and personal accounts of his opponents
in this particular Pride event. Very revealing and noteworthy the
differences in habits and lifestyle leading to the later results.
Some good fights, some less than hoped for. Yet Master Gracie
never disappoints and displays the true manners as well as talent
that any martial artist should strive for.
A perfect video to have in any martial arts collection.
Enjoy, Laurence

Summary: By far, the greatest NHB tape made
Review: This tape is without a doubt, the most capitivating NHB tape ever made. Even my old college roommates, ardent proponents that NHB is boring as hell, loved it. Even my girlfriend loved it. If more MMA related videos were as good as this, MMA would be widely popular. A well-done high quality documentary, worth every penny.

Summary: Buy this Video!
Review: This video is by far the most exciting documentary I have seen. It follows Rickson Gracie, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu legend, on a trip to Japan, where he will fight in a full contact tournament(Japan Vale Tudo 95). It does talk about two other fighters, but Rickson is the focus of the program. The documentary begins a few weeks before the tournament while Rickson is training, and the finale is Rickson fighting in the tournament. It is a very interesting and exciting look into the life of one of the toughtest men alive. The footage of him training is intriguing and the fights are great. I think that any martial artist would enjoy this, as a DVD or a Video.

Summary: Knocked the breath out of me!
Review: Undoubtedly the greatest fighter alive, Rickson Gracie is a legend in his own family, a family of the best fighters in the world...

This movie shows this wonderful man's philosophies, training and attitudes towards training, fighting and life.

The fights are incredible and Rickson looks like he's more than human. It's like "The Matrix" in a ring, without the wires!

Some men get in the ring and fight, some do battle, but only a few ever perform an art. Rickson Gracie is this man.

Summary: Mixed Martial Arts behind the scenes.
Review: Whether your a fan, or just interested, this is a great tape. "Choke" is a documentary following a Brazillian Ju-Jitsu fighter through a Mixed Martial Arts tournement in Japan. This is a high quality production at a prestigious event. See the highlights of all the fights, and behind the scenes footage of fighters' training and preparation. Mixed Martial Arts are a combination of boxing, kickboxing, Judo, and olympic wrestling all combined into one event. The are rules protecting the fighters from serious injury, but the fights are much more "freestyle" in form than in other combat sports. This tape will probably hook you on this exciting sport, so buy at your own risk!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Fun but not what I expected.
Review: While I did enjoy this documentary a few things did bother me, hence the 3 stars.
First of all, let me say it's always great to hear Rickson talk about his art, and seeing him train was pretty cool. It was also kind of neat to see him with his pretty wife and kids, giving us a more complete picture of this great fighter. He seems like a really nice guy and a good family man.
Unfortunately the build up to the competition that this documentary covers is decreased because, for some reason, Rickson fights newbies to NHB fighting competition and not really prepared for what they will face. It just seemed kind of pointless.
Also, as a practicioner, which I'm pretty sure most of the audience would be also, it would have been greatly appreciated to see more of the specific training and conditioning that Rickson undergoes.
But, again, the ultimate downfall of Choke is that Rickson was never really challenged against his opponents.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent
Review: While Rickson Gracie has come under criticism recenly due to inactivity, this video shows not only how he became such a legend, but why. Not just in his skills, but as a person, and his life as a sporting warrior. While some of the action is violent in nature, the skills shown by Rickson, and his opponants, overcome this fearful thought. An excellent production of a fascinating growing sport, portraying one of the sports greatest masters.
