Rating: Summary: cables really matter Review: At one year and 2 months of age, it died. I sure wish I'd bought the extended warranty. I'd reccomend that anyone buying any DVR buy a warranty. We used ours almost full time. Sony wanted us to pre-pay $...and pay to package it properly and ship it insured to the only place that could fix it. I can buy a new one for $... Plus, I have the inconvenience of shipping it and waiting. We LOVE TIVO and used it constantly. The remote started to wear out where some of the buttons didn't respond right away. Also, it didn't always change the channels properly all the time to record programs, which seems to be a common problem. So you might come home expecting your favorite show, press play to see it, only to see it didn't change channels and recorded the wrong show. I love TIVO and we are definitely addicted. I don't know why anyone would watch TV the regular way. We will buy another TIVO, but after our treatment by SONY, it won't be the SONY.
