Rating: Summary: THIS DVD WILL DISAPPOINT CORE (spelled o-l-d t-i-m-e) FANS Review: Although the title of this DVD is NASCAR Adrenaline, I believe it should be named "NASCAR Light". Using the words "NASCAR" and "Adrenaline" together invokes images of nose-to-tail or side-by-side racing, bumpin' and bangin, and yes, wreckin'. This meager effort, instead continues NASCAR's recent trend to generate a larger fan base via an enhanced focus on political correctness.
This trend has manifested itself in the "pussifying" of the sport via rules changes, censuring drivers who dare to speak their minds or, gasp, express anger. All this is the name of the almighty buck.
The above comment aside, this DVD does not include scenes from the wealth of archival footage of many truly awesome racing and, yes wrecks. Richard Petty's slide into the end of the pit lane wall, Bobby Allison's career ending crash, and some wrecks from the beach days at Daytona or the early days at Darlington are painfully omitted. More conspicuous in it's absence is in-car camera footage from the "upside down" wrecks, which is guaranteed to create viewer vertigo.
Finally, although it is an unfortunate result, death is a fact of the sport; no wrecks that resulted in driver or pit crew death were shown. Any true NASCAR fan will agree that "rubbin' (paint) is racin'" and that sometimes drivers lose their lives. Ignoring this fact does not make it go away. I'm not advocating a "Faces of Death" type orgy of the macabre. More simply, I would appreciate a more realistic portrayal of a thrilling, exciting and, yes, violent sport.
After viewing this DVD I felt the way I did after viewing the NASCAR IMAX film, "WHERE's THE BEEF?"
