Summary: Great game and idea -- poor DVD
Review: As a Bronco and DVD fanatic, I had high hopes for this disk. I was greatly disappointed.This DVD was originally only available as a freebie from RCA when you bought one of their players. Now that Polygram Video is distributing it (and asking over $20 for it), the RCA commercial that twice hijacked my player, and the ever-present RCA logo in the lower-right corner of the screen seemed intrusive and out-of-place. The "Game" section of the disk contains a recap that is a little over 19 minutes long. The video quality is no higher than a decent VHS tape, and the icons that alert the user to special features (such as multiple angles) are way too large and distracting. The rest of the disk's content is paltry, and requires tedious navigation to access. NFL Films can do much better with the DVD format. How about a longer, more in-depth recap of the game, or video-intensive player bios (like the Elway: Champion Forever video now available)? Or, better yet, what if the entire game were on DVD, complete with audio tracks from the radio and TV broadcasters, on-field microphones, etc.? Such a disk would require a lot of collaboration, but it would be worth the $20 I wasted on this title.

Review: As a lifetime Bronco fan I was hoping for a DVD video of the game. Instead this is nothing more than a highlight film and a poor one at that. There is no continuity and it's hard to follow, even when you already know the plays in the game. A waste of money. Guess I'll have to stick with my own VHS recording for now.

I was a little disappointed - the cover seems to imply that you'll be able to watch the whole game when actually it's just a 20 minute video with highlights. However, it does have mulitple camera angles of the best plays; slow-motion shots; sideline chatter and interchanges between the coaches, players and officials; pop-up stats; the chance to hear the Denver and Green Bay radio commentators give their spin on the game; and a few other nifty features. The documentary is okay, but the NFL put out a better one on the Broncos' winning season on VHS. Denver fans will probably like this DVD better than the Green Bay folks. What I'd like to see is a DVD that has the entire game, with the bells and whistles this one has. It's possible: witness the recent excellence of "From the Earth to the Moon." Each disc in that series is four hours plus of video. A Super Bowl as good as XXXII should fit nicely, minus the commercials. Hell, you could put the commercials on it in a seprarate chapter and lower the cost of the disc. The best commericals always come out on the Superbowl anyway (but please retire the Bud Bowl).

Review: Being a big fan of NFL Films™ highlight shows, I grabbed this particular DVD in the hopes of seeing the best of the regular season, postseason, and Super Bowl™ highlights of the Denver Broncos™ as they upset the Green Bay Packers™ in one of the greatest NFL™ championships in recent memory. The NFL Films™ Super Bowl™ Champions VHS videos were formatted in this manner, and I was expecting the same deal from one of their earliest forays into the digital video realm. Unfortunately, I was set up for a major letdown: the only presentation here is a twenty-minute show featuring the choicest Super Bowl™ game highlights. No look back at the two teams' seasons, no player or coach interviews, nothing like that-just the best parts of the Big Game. This disc does include a fairly impressive special features section, though, which includes many of the key plays from various angles and different play-by-play radio commentaries and narrator analytical breakdowns. And although the picture quality is grainy at times (which could be attributed more to the source film rather than the transfer to DVD), the overall visual clarity is pretty close to top-notch. I was especially struck by the clarity of the Dolby™ stereo sound. Unfortunately, despite NFL Films'™ laudable efforts to maximize the interactivity factor, the brevity of the main presentation left me feeling like I just didn't get my money's worth. And being forced to sit through a couple minutes of ads that I was unable to skip or fast-forward through only added to the aggravation. My recommendation to you: if you're thinking about buying this particular DVD, give it a rent first-- you might just save yourself a fair degree of disappointment as well as a couple o' bucks. 'Late

Review: I bought this DVD because I found Super Bowl XXXII to be one of the best football games I'd seen in a long time, and I wanted to watch it again with high video and audio quality. Instead I found a run-of-the-mill NFL Highlights film that's maybe 25 minutes long. It does absolutely no justice to the real game. Yes, some plays can be seen from multiple angles. Yes you can choose to hear play-by-play from the Denver or Green Bay announcers, but only occasionally - what you listen to mostly is hyberbole from the NFL narrator. Finally, this DVD demonstrates a dark side of DVD's: when you pop the DVD in, you are immediately subject to a 3 minute advertisement for RCA - WHICH CANNOT BE SKIPPED. All DVD controls are disabled for the duration of this advertisement. And if you watch the highlights film to the end, you'll get to watch the advertisement again, whether you want to or not! This DVD should have cost 2.99, not 20.99.
