Review: Having never been able to watch ECW during its Golden Era (didn't quite catch it out here in my parts) I quickly went out and bought this DVD when I first had a chance. It features seven of ECW's classic matches. In order here they are:

1.Chris Jericho vs 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Pitbull #2 vs. Shane Douglas. 4-way dance for the TV title from 1996. GREAT action with Scorpio and Jericho. The Pitbulls Superbomb Francine. Purely ECW at its best. (5 stars)

2.Rob Van Dam vs Bam Bam Bigelow for the TV title from 1998. This match marked the beginning of RVD's historic two year run with the belt. Awesome spotfest with RVD. (4 1/2 stars)

3.Sabu vs The Sandman from 1998. This is the classic "Stairway to Hell" match. Brutal. (3 ½ stars)

4.Ian vs Axl Rotten in their "Taipei" death match. Brutal, plus a run-in from the Public Enemy and the Gangstas.(3 stars)

5.Jerry Lynn vs. Tajiri vs Super Crazy Three-Way Dance from 1999's November to Remember. (4 stars)

6.Dean Malenko vs Eddie Guerrero in their fareway 2 outta 3 falls send off match in 1995. Pure scientific genius!!!(4 ½ stars)

7.Psicosis vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. Standard lucha fare.(4 stars)

For me personally, the 4-way dance alone was worth the price of this DVD. AWESOME match. Other great ones for me were the RVD vs Bigelow match and the Malenko vs. Guerrero 2 outta 3.

Other jewels included in the DVD edition were also some classic promos featuring:

1.Steve Austin (right after his leaving WCW and joining up with ECW, great "must-see" for Stone Cold fans).

2.Stevie Richards

3.The Public Enemy

4.The Pitbulls with Francine

5.The Eliminators

Talent bios are also featured which is a nice extra but nothing earth-shattering.

Here's a quick run-down:

Good: AWESOME action, particularly the 4-way match for the TV title and the RVD vs. Bam Bam match. The Steve Austin promo.

So-so: The Lucha match was great, but compared to what you can see on any given Nitro it's not particularly "must-see" action. However, it's a decent match. The Hardcore matches with Sandman, Sabu and the Rotten had their share of "holy-bleep" moments but the endings came off as a little anti-climatic.

Overall, this DVD is definitely worth viewing. You WON'T be disappointed. Personally, I am very satisfied with watching this DVD. If you are a true extreme wrestling fan this is definitely worth watching. Is it worth owning? That's up to you to decide.

Recommended.

Summary: ECW IS THE F'N BEST FED EVER! THEY PROVE IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I nearly had a heart attack when I saw Path Of Destruction at the store and I didn't think twice about buyin this!!!!!!!!! I was not disapointed and I promise you if you are an ecw fan you will not be either. here are the matches with the rating out of 5 starz.

Match 1: TV Champion Chris Jericho vs. Scorpio vs. The Franchise vs. Pitbull 2 - the greastest 4-way dance you'll ever see in your lifetime seriously. all 4 guys display endurance, athletism, and skill in a 40-minute classic. Jericho and Scorpio blow some spots but they make up for it later. Pitbull 2 actually doesn't suck here and the Franchise was in his prime.....awesome match, bests spots see a sweet superbomb on scopio, the 1st standing top rope rana, the 1st spot of a chick goin through a table aka the dudleyz, and franchise feuding with pitbull 2. RATING: *****

Match 2: TV Champion Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Rob Van Dam - this is the beginning of the 23 month reign of RVD and Bam Bam's best match ever! this is the match where RVD goes off the top buckle into a somersault into the fans and just an awesome match here. RATING: *****

Match 3: Sabu vs. The Sandman in Stairway To Hell - one of ECW's bloodiest matches and this is a classic!!!!!!!! just incredible RATING: *****

Match 4: Axl Rotten vs. Ian Rotten in a Tai Pai Deathmatch - if you love hardcore bloodbaths then you'll love this match but if you like wrestling you'll hate it......me i'm split b/c I was shocked of the blood and the glass goin through flesh but I watched it again and I can see the match is kinda stupid.........but this is the bloodiest match I've ever seen RATING: ***

Match 5: Tajiri vs. Super Crazy vs. Jerry Lynn - this is an awesome 3-way dance from N2R 99!! Tajiri, Lynn, and Crazy rule and this match proved why every ECW fan respected all three men very much RATING: ****1/2

BONUS MATCHES:

Eddy Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko in 2/3 falls - very technical match here that ends in a draw but an awsome effort on both parts. RATING: ****

Psicosis vs. Rey Misterio Jr. - Psicosis can have awesome matches with Rey!!!!!!!!!!! and this is a same old match they always have and its awesome RATING: *****

bOTTOM lINE: PLEASE GET THIS!!!!!!!!!! ecw 4-LIFE!!!!!!!

Summary: This ain't extreme
Review: i was very satisfied when i bought extreme evolution. however path of destruction isn't has hardly any extreme matches. you get 7 average matches, none suck, but they aren't great. if you want to see big bumps don't get this DVD. stick with RF Video or Extreme evolution. hopefully the next DVD from ECW will be more hardcore. But if you are a hardcore ECW fan or just a respectable fan then you should buy the DVD, you will get your money's worth. If you just like big bumps, save your 25 bucks.

Summary: some classic matches
Review: I wasn't familiar with ECW before this DVD. I had rented their first PPV: Barely Legal and wasn't all that impressed. Path to Destruction is a Best Of DVD and highlight some of the better matches in ECW history. I was only halfway impressed. I prefer wrestling over violence and have never been a fan of the hardcore division (be it in the WWE or elsewhere). Violence for the sake of violence (or blood for the sake of blood) is not entertaining to me. So, I skipped over the hardcore matches (the glass match in particular) and watched the wrestling matches.

The Four Way Dance with a young Chris Jericho was the best match on the DVD, however the Eddie Guererro vs Dean Malenko was a classic in classic mat wrestling. Rob Van Dam vs Bam Bam Bigelow was another good match, but not up to the level of the other two I listed. The is a Three Way match between Tajiri, Jerry Lynn and Super Crazy that was a cruiserweight classic.

All in all, this is a very good DVD for someone looking for an introduction to ECW. I prefer the wrestling over the blood, but that's just me.

Summary: Better than Extreme Evolution
Review: It may be the minority opinion, but I think that "Path of Destruction" is better than "Extreme Evolution." It has a better variety of matches, from the Malenko/Guererro technical masterpiece to the intense hardcore Sabu vs. The Sandman to the high-flying luchadore work of Psicosis vs. Rey Mysterio, Jr. There isn't a match that's less than exciting. And Steve Austin definitely have to check out the extra features which include a mesmerizing promo by "Superstar" Steve Austin in which he shoots all over Eric Bischoff and WCW. Watching his promo, you get the sense that was destined to be as big of a star as he became. If you like any form of profession wrestling, pick this up!

Summary: Path of Destruction
Review: Match #1: Chris Jericho v 2 Cold Scorpio v Pitbull 2 v Shane Douglas
A very good elimination match - Four men go into the match, but only one man will walk out with victory! Francine goes through a table for her betrayal. (9/10)

Match #2: Rob Van Dam v Bam Bam Bigelow
This match is for the ECW TV Title. It is very good, worth-wathcing for the two moves that RVD does off the top rope into the crowd. (7/10)

Match #3: Sabu v Sandman - 'Stairway to Hell' Match
A very, very brutal match, with weapons such as chairs, tables, ladders, singapore canes and barbed wire all being used by each other to hurt their opponent. (8.5/10)

Match #4: Ian Rotten v Axl Rotten - Taipei Death Match
Not particularly a good match, but very brutal, however. Before the match, both men put their hands in glue and then smashed them into glass to create the ultimate weapon. If you love blood and can't get enough of it, you will love this match. (5/10)

Match #5: Yoshihiro Tajiri v Super Crazy v Jerry Lynn
A very decent 3-Way match here. Just like the first match on the DVD, an elimination match in which three men will enter, but only one will walk out victorious. (9/10)

Match #6: Dean Malenko v Eddy Guerrero - 2/3 Falls Match
This match was Eddy and Dean's last match before jumping ship to go to WCW. A very good technical match here, with lots of submission moves performed by both men. (7/10)

Match #7: Psicosis v Rey Mysterio Jr
This match was the debut of both superstars, who wanted to become the future of ECW. Probably the best opening match in ECW history. Great action here. (7.5/10)

DVD Extras include wrestler biographies and a 'promos' section, with promos from Steve Austin, Steven Richards, the Pitbulls, Public Enemy, the Eliminators and Bill Alfonso & Taz.

Overall, a decent ECW DVD. I'd give ECW Path of Destruction 8.5/10.

Summary: Path of Destruction
Review: Now we're talkin'! This ECW video is the BEST ECW video ever! The first match is a fatal four-way elimination match up featuring Pit Bull # 2 vs. Shane Douglas vs. 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Chris Jericho. This match is rather long but still pretty fun though. Francine gets powerbombed through a table near the ending of the match.
The second match is much better, pitting "Mr. PPV" Rob Van Dam against Bam Bam Bigelow. Rob Van Dam throws Bigalow to the front row of the audience and then jumps onto him from the top turnbuckle in the ring! And then, RVD does it AGAIN! You've gotta see it to believe it! The 3rd match up is definetly not for the faint of heart and DEFINETLY NOT SUITABLE FOR KIDS! The Sandman takes on Sabu in the very first "Stairway to Hell" match up, a match in which barbed wire is hung from the ceiling to become the ultimate weapon. This was the most violent war I have EVER seen! Sabu stabs The Sandman with a pair of ... scissors and wraps his head up in the barbed wire! Sabu breaks his jaw over the metal guard rail and begins bleeding from his mouth! You watch this match and tell me it's "fake". The Sandman's face gets covered in blood and so does his shirt! And the fourth match up is just as graphic. Ian Rotten takes on Axel Rotten in a Taipei Death match: Taped fists covered in BROKEN GLASS! And the last match is a Three-way Dance, pitting Jerry Lynn against Tajiri and Super Crazy in a match up of amazing display you'll have to see to believe! THIS VIDEO IS THE BOMB! GET IT!
