Summary: Royal Rumble 2002 Review
Review: I saw this event live on PPV and let me tell you, it is one of the better Royal Rumble events ever put together. Featured matchups are:

The Rock vs. Chris Jericho for the Undisputed WWF Championship

Edge vs. William Regal for the Intercontinental Title

Spike Dudley & Tazz defend the WWF Tag Team Championship against The Dudley Boyz

Jazz challenges Trish Stratus for the Women's Title

Ric Flair vs. Vince McMahon in a street fight

And the Royal Rumble Match which features the likes of Stone Cold, Triple H, Rob Van Dam, The Undertaker, Booker T and Kane in perhaps the most star-studded Royal Rumble match of all time.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of the best Rumbles ever!
Review: I was actually there at the Philips Arena that night, and it was the absolute best Rumble in recent memory.

1. Tag Team titles: The Dudleyz vs Tazz and Spike- 3/5
A great Tag Team bout with the winners of this match really deserving it.

2. Intercontinental title: Edge vs William Regal- 2/5
This match was good, but the winner doesn't deserve the title. He loses it 2 months from where he won it though.

3. Women's title: Jazz vs Trish (Jackie was referee)- 3/5
This may have been one of the best Women's title matches I've ever seen. They finally have good women matches.

4. Street Fight: Vince McMahon vs Ric Flair- 5/5
This match is one of the two best matches of the night. The night after the event, Mr. McMahon said he was gonna bring back the nWo (watch No Way Out).

5. Undisputed title: The Rock vs Chris Jericho- 4/5
This was an impressive match, without a doubt. This was the best out of all their matches.

6. Royal Rumble Match- 5/5
The second best match of the night. This was definitely one of the biggest Rumbles I've seen in a while with the last two men being Triple H and Kurt Angle. You'll have to watch to find out the outcome.

Summary: Great PPV
Review: Match by Match Review:

WWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Dudley Boyz vs. Spike & Tazz (Champions)

This was the shortest tag team title match I've ever seen on a PPV. Tazz really was the one that carried the match, although we got to see 2 sweet Dudley Doggs on Buh buh. Very nice finish!

Rating: Good

INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH
William Regal vs. Edge(Champion)

Oh I was looking foward to this match, Edge is a great Intercontinental Champion and William Regal would make a good champion too. The wrestling in the match was exciting and kept me awake, I really enjoyed this match. Very very controversial Finish.

Rating: Very Good

STREET FIGHT
Vince McMahon vs. Ric Flair

This match was a bore, I expected David flair to return to help Vince but no David. Not too much wrestling in the this match, this match was definitely what it was named..a street fight. Flair still has some gas left I guess.

Rating: Poor

WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Jazz vs. Trish(Champion)

Surprisingly I really enjoyed this match, these two women know how to wrestle and you don't see that nowadays. Jazz is a terrific performer and Trish is great too. A lot of Tech. wrestling from Trish and Tech/Brawling from Jazz. Peep this match very entertaining.

Rating: Very Good

UNDISPUTED WWF CHAMPIONSHIP
The Rock vs. Chris Jericho(Champion)

All of their matches were good and this was another good match, but I'm sick of Y2J using the Rock Bottom, he doesn't do it right!!! Anyways, I enjoyed the match and I got what I expected but did not want which was Y2J defeating The Rock by cheating.

Rating: Good

ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH

This was a royal rumble with a lot of surpises and the return of Team Xtreme, Val Venis, Godfather and his "escorts", Golddust, and one of my old favorites Mr. Perfect!! No really though, this Royal rumbe like all others was action packed from beginning to end. Very nice finish, kinda reminds me of HBK's win at the 1995 Royal Rumble.

Rating: Very Good

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: All in all another great WWF PPV.
Review: ok here is a spoiler free review just to refresh your memory and help you remember if you want to get Rumble 2002:

Opening match, Tazz and Spike defend the tag titles against Dvon and Bubba, A good match although a little short in my opinion.
Next up Edge takes on William regal with his IC title on the line, for Regals standards this match was ok.
Trish Stratus (oh yeah) vs Jazz with Jackie as Ref... a pretty good match... but could have been better.
Vince Mcmahon vs Ric Flair: great street fight considering the age of both the men.
Y2J vs The Rock for the unified world title, A great match, Strong offence from both men will definetly keep your interest.
And of course the main event the royal rumble... 30 men and in my opinion one of the best Rumble matches of all time... here is the list of competitors in alphabetical order:
Al Snow Albert Big Show Billy Booker T Big Bossman Bradshaw Christian Chuck Dallas Page Faarooq Godfather Goldust Jeff Hardy Kane Kurt Angle Lance Storm Matt Hardy Maven Mr. Perfect Perry Saturn Rikishi Rob Van Dam Scotty Too Hotty Steve Austin Test The Hurricane Triple H Undertaker Val Venis.

With the extra features the WWF always includes in Royal Rumble dvd's this one will no doubt be an essential for any true fans collection!

Summary: Good PPV, but the Rumble match is too predictable
Review: Royal Rumble 2002 took place from the Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. This was a good PPV to kick off the new year. I will rank the matches for you on a star (*) system. They are all based out of five stars.

1. SPIKE & TAZZ (VS) DUDLEY'S (TAG TITLE)
This was a good match to kick off the PPV. Good action it was just a little too short. Tazz and Spike retain the titles as Tazz gets D-Von to tap to the Tazzmission. [3 *'s]P>2. WILLIAM REGAL (VS) EDGE (INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE)
This fued continued way too long. It went on for three months. This match was slow and boring. The only good spot was when Edge gave Regal a DDT on the outside apron. Regal wins the title after he hits Edge with the Brass Knuckles. *1/2

3. TRISH STRATUS (VS) JAZZ (WOMEN'S TITLE)
I hate most women's matches. This was no different. Trish retains the title with a Stratusfaction. *

4. RIC FLAIR (VS) VINCE McMAHON (STREET FIGHT)
This match was about what was expected between these two. There was a lot of brawling and a lot of blood. There is a funny spot when Vince takes Flair's daughter's camera and takes a picture of himself and the bloodied Flair. Flair wins when Vince taps to the Figure Four Leglock. [3*'s]

5. CHRIS JERICHO (VS) THE ROCK (UNDISPUTED TITLE)
This is a very underrated match. Not a lot is heard about this match. It was very entertaining and fast paced. The crowd was really into this match. A lot of close falls occured in this match. The best spot of the match is when The Rock Rock Bottoms Y2J from one announce table to the next. Jericho retains the title with the help of Lance Storm, Christian, Nick Patrick, and the top turnbuckle. [4 1/2 *'s]

6. ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH
The Rumle match was pretty decent, but it is too predictable. Goldust, Val Venis, The Godfather, and Mr. Perfect returned to the WWE in this match. There were good spots in this match including Maven elimintating the Undertaker, which was preceeded by the Undertaker beating Maven all over the arena and finally putting his head through a glass popcorn machine. The confrontation between Steve Austin and Triple H was very intense. One of the surprises was Mr. Perfect making it into the final four. Triple H wins by clotheslining Kurt Angle over the top rope. With this win, Triple H get an automatic spot in the main event at Wrestlemania X8 for the Undisputed Title. Unfortunately, everyone knew this would happen. [4 *'s]

The extra feature are nothing to get too excited about except for the return of Triple H on RAW.

Overall, this was a great PPV. Two good matches, one great match, and a good Rumble match. The Rock & Y2J match was the best of the night.

I recommend purchasing this PPV. It will be a good addition to your collection. Buy for The Rock (vs) Y2J and for the Rumble match.

Summary: January 2002 Phillilps Arena Atlanta, Georgia
Review: Royal Rumble 2002 was a very good PPV with some action packed undercard matches and one of the most star studded Rumble matches in years.

1. Tazz & Spike Dudley vs. Dudley boys (WWF Tag Team Championship)
Good way to kick off the show. This was a ctually a pretty good tag match, just a little bit too short. (8/10)

2. Trish Stratus vs. Jazz (Women's Championship w/Jacqueline as Special Guest Referee)
Not a bad woman's match, but who really cares. (6/10)

3. Edge vs. William Regal (Intercontinental)
These two had a good fued, but the matches were just never that good. Again, okay match, but nothing too special. (7/10)

4. Vince McMahon vs. Ric Flair (Street Fight)
Good performance put on by these two old timers. It is about what you would expect from these two. Of course they both bleed pretty good. There is a funny spot were Vince makes Flair's daughter take a picture of Vince and Ric with her camera. (8/10)

5. The Rock vs. Chris Jericho (Undisputed Title)
This has to be one of the most underrated matches of the year. You never hear much about this match. It is action packed from beginning to end. There are many close falls and a great announce table to announce table bump. Surprise appearance by Christian adn Lance Storm. Ggreat match. (9/10)

6. Royal Rumble Match (Wineer Gets A Shot at Undisputed Title at Wrestlemania 18)
This Rumble match featured one of the best fields in years. Some of the highlights include Maven eliminating The Undertaker and Taker proceeding to destroy Maven all over the arena, the Triple H and Austin stare down, the return of Goldust, Val Venis, The Godfather, Mr. Perfect, and Perfect being one of the final four participants left in the ring. Good ending, but a little too predictable. (9/10)

Overall the PPV was pretty good. It has a great championship match and Rumble match. It would be a good addition to your DVD collection.

Overall Rating: 8.5/10

Summary: This was awsome!
Review: Royal Rumble 2002 was not as good as 2001 or 2000, but it is without a doubt the second best one out of the past three years. The Undisputed title match was awsome when Jericho put his title on the line against the rock and the rumble match really shined in some places.

The Dudley Boyz vs. Tazz and Spike: Pretty good opener, but I was expecting a lot more. Tazz and Spike really didn't make a good tag team in my opinion, but they had to be in a match somewhere, so why not make them a tag team. A good opener, but not the best. 7.5/10

Jazz vs. Trish Stratus: Not as good as the women's matches nowadays, and Jazz vs. Trish is just a match that I have seen too much of, don't watch this. 6/10

Edge vs. William Regal: Someone should have killed this rivalry before it even started. I was bored out of my mind in this one. These two are talented in their own ways, but just can't put on a good show together. Another boring match! 7/10

Ric Flair vs. Mr. McMahon: Good God, what did I do to make the wwe mad enough at me to make this match for me to waste my money on? Only one good moment in this match, when McMahon brought Flair to his kids at ringside and told his daughter to take a picture of Flair when he was bleeding. 6/10

Chris Jericho vs. The Rock: Fiiiinally! The Rock has come back to save another ppv! This is a spectacular match! Jericho and the Rock really work well together. The match had near falls, exciting maneuvers, and a great table moment when the Rock Rock Bottomed Jericho throught the ENGLISH announce table instead of the SPANISH announce table! Imagine that, the Spanish announce table survives a title match! A great match. 10/10

Royal Rumble: Excellent Royal Rumble, lots of big names like Angle, Austin, HHH, Undertaker, Mr. Perfect, and Kane. When Maven eliminated the Undertaker the Undertaker's face was hilarious! The chairshot that the Dead Man gave Maven after that was also eye-popping. When Austin and HHH were fighting and the hurricane came out and tried to chokeslam both of them was funny also. Stone Cold looked at HHH and said, "are you F#$%ing kidding me?" They then both eliminate Hurricane. I was dissapointed when Austin was eliminated, and when Triple H is alone with Angle, you could tell who was going to win. Some other great moments that I won't ruin. 10/10

The last two matches that I talked about saved this ppv. Either than them the others are either bad, or okay everyonce in a while. Still, you should buy this ppv just for the Jericho, Rock match and the rumble.

Summary: One of the Better WWF(E) Shows of 2002 So Far
Review: Royal Rumble lived up to the hype with the exception of a few bits. I won't be nasty like in my past reviews.

Spike Dudley & Taz(z) (Tag Champs) vs. Dudley Boyz- This was a decent bout that only lasted four minutes. These guys could have gone at least 15 minutes longer though. All four were ECW veterans so you can't go wrong with this match!
Rating-*** stars
Edge vs. William Regal- These guys are great. I don't care what anyone says about Regal. He is one of the best workers in the WWE today. Regal dumps Edge right on the top of his head at one point in the match. It was the Sickest and Best Spot of the Night.
Rating-**** stars for the intensity
Trish Stratus vs Jazz- So-So for a woman's bout. Nothing much else to say. Jazz is a good worker.
Rating- *1/2 stars
Vince McMahon vs. Ric Flair (No DQ)- Ric pulls off the first of two bloody, classic brawls in 2002. The Second being his match against Undertaker at WM 18. I understand that Vince is one of the worst sellers in the wrestling world but The Nature Boy is able to drag Vinnie Mac through a great brawl.
Rating- ****1/2 Stars
Chris Jericho(WWF Champ) vs. The Rock- Not as good as their match at No Mercy 2001 which happened to win match of the year from several magazines, but it's still a good bout with tons of electricity.
Rating- **** Stars
Royal Rumble Match- One of the better Rumbles. The 2001 Rumble match is way better than this one though. The top spot of the match has to be when Maven took his first chair-shot and did not even put his hands up. It was an intense shot too. Just as hard as Ian Rotten's chairshots in IWA Mid-South. I never thought Curt Henning would make it to the final three. That was his first and last shining moment in a while.
Rating-***** Stars because it was all Action with only a few stalling spots. The match made 64 minutes seem like 20, and thats a good thing.
