Summary: The best Jesus movie in the past decade
Review: Now that is a pretty strong statement for me to make. After all I am a huge Christian Bale fan and I loved his performance as Jesus in "Mary, mother of Jesus"...but how can I compare "Mary..." with the superb "The Miracle Maker" and I dont mean the story of Helen Keller. I remember hearing about the Miracle Maker and just rolling my eyes. "Great," I was thinking. "A boring claymation story of Jesus' life. Why cant they leave well enough alone?" When Easter came, I had completely forgotten about "The Miracle Maker" being on tv. My mom was flipping through the tv channels and she called me over to see this "crazy" thing on tv. Well it was the "Miracle maker", I was enticed from the first glance. I caught it at the time Jesus was getting baptized by John and wow, I was impressed. This isnt like all the other claymation stories. There is a high level of technology put in to make the claymation Jesus...real. It is like a cross between an animated cartoon Jesus and the real life human being Jesus. It is a big trip. The actors do a fine magnificent job at their roles. If you had to pick only one Jesus movie, this would be it!

Summary: Best telling of the story I've seen
Review: Of all the Jesus movies that are broadcast around Easter time, this one has topped them all. The portrayal of Jesus is wonderfully human, in notable contrast to the stilted performances I've seen before that were all "Son of God" but no "Son of Man."

This movie is simple enough for young children, but will definitely keep the attention of adults. People familiar with the Bible will especially appreciate the attention to detail (for example, the 12 stones on the breastplate worn by the high priest; see Exodus 28:15-20). Also, the makers of this film did not allow the tedious requirements of this type of animation to limit the physical expression of the characters. At one point, Jesus looks positively exasperated when someone calls to him to test him with a question.

I think this film appeals to any Christian denomination, and maybe also to non-Christians who are looking for some life in the story of Jesus. This is a fantastic, no-frills, "just Jesus" interpretation.

Summary: Just plain miraculous!
Review: Saw this on ABC-7 and was shocked ... it was incredible! The animation and production were top-notch and innovative, and the portrayal of Jesus was both true to the Gospel record and sure to be a surprise to everyone. It really brings across how luminous yet attractive a person he is - and, by implication, how attractive God really is - a character without equal before or since. You are drawn to him inexorably, as he teaches, heals, laughs ...

The characters are all nicely fleshed out, and although there are some slight departures from the Gospel records, they are not worth squabbling about (although I would have liked to see more detail about the guards at the tomb, etc.). There are also some unexpected touches of humor.

Ever wonder why most secular books on Jesus use those eerie, morose, almost alien, old paintings of him on their cover? Just as these serve to distance you from his humanity and warmth, this movie reminds us of just these qualities that drew scholars, religious leaders, and "sinners" alike to him. You will never think of Jesus in the same way again.

Although the voice of Mary Magdalene and the video transfer could have been better, the film is still great.

Summary: One of the best life of Christ films
Review: Some viewers have called this a "claymation" film, it is not. The characters in this wonderful film are foam and plastic stop motion puppets. There is a vast difference in the somewhat crude and clumsy claymation characters and these refined and detailed figures.

One of the reasons this film works so wonderfully is that since they are puppets, the viewer is able to accept them as the characters much easier than having Christ done by a human actor. The viewer doesn't have the persona of the actor constantly in the back of his or her mind. Also these figures are really true to the actual racial types than actors in make up and wigs can be. The stop motion animation is wonderfully fluid and realistic.

This is a "Family" film, but that should not put off an adult viewer. The 2 and 3 D animation makes this a wonderfully moving telling of the age old story of Christ. Using 2D animation for the parables and flash backs is a stroke of genius in keeping them in a different perspective than the "actual" story.

This is a brilliantly done recreation of one of the greatest stories ever told (in fact it is much better than the over blown film using that phrase as a title - no Hollywood "names" to distract from the story in this version). No adult should be put off because it is done with "puppets" and animation. It is a beautiful, serious and wonderful telling of the story of Christ.

Summary: I am thankful for this wonderful blessing!
Review: The Miracle Maker - The Story of Jesus is well crafted and is entitled to many industry awards. It has edified me. No, it has changed me! I believe God has made me the recipient of this and several other recent blessings I am forever thankful of. I can share this video and so much more of my life now to people whom I have needed and who have needed me.

Summary: The story of Jesus the way it should be told!
Review: THe miracle maker is an awesome telling of Jesus' life here on earth. Forget the editorial reviews description of Jesus as brooding (I don't think they watched the movie) Jesus is portrayed by Ralph Fiennes the way he lived. He was joyful in the message he had to share! THis film gets that. It also shows how human Jesus was, how he struggled with the same things we struggle with. THat was the whole point of God sending him here and this film really captures it. My son & husband also loved it. It is more biblically accurate than any other telling of Jesus life I have ever seen including The Greatest Story Ever Told.

Summary: EXTRAORDINARY! A refreshing accurate story in claymation.
Review: The Miracle Maker is in one word EXTRAORDINARY! For those of you tired of Hollywood and others mocking, humilating, and exagerrating the truth of the Biblical account of Jesus life, then you will be most blessed by this work in claymation. The accuracy to the truth and beautiful art production are first rate. Children will be delighted in the uniqueness of the presentation. Any true Christian will sense the presence of God in this work. Enjoy it over and over again!

Summary: Beautiful production of a timeless story
Review: The Miracle Maker takes the story of Jesus' life and portrays it in a thoughtful and real way to the modern viewer, without dumbing down the message. High caliber actors lend tremendous credibility to this quality production. Well worth the time to view and it is a must for children, who want to see a depiction of Jesus' life that brings out the political, spiritual, and emotional scenarios surrounding it.
