Summary: Classic Veggitales
Review: Like a wholesome version of Monty Python, the twisted humor and excellent production values bring entertainment with a moral to kids and adults alike. My 3 year old daughter demands to watch Lyle at least 3 times a day...as a result, I walk around singing "Larry's High Silk Hat" in the most inappropriate situations. Although these videos are produced by a Christian company, I often think that they are valuable for all "people of the Book" (Christians, Muslims, and Jews) The closing Bible verse in Lyle is from the Old Testament, so it has ecumenical appeal. Veggies will help your kiddies to grow big and strong!

Summary: Funny, entertaining, with a message...
Review: My "lil bro" lol, loves Veggie Tales. I like Veggie Tales too, I think that Big Ideas sent out a GREAT, high quality animation, entertaining, funny, and with a religious and moral message. This one was SO funny! There aren't many movies I laugh in ether. Anyways this is my favorite Veggie Tales and I recomend this to every christian.

Summary: A Great Veggie Musical
Review: My 2 year old daughter loves to watch Veggie Tales and I am a huge fan of musicals so when I saw that this was a musical Veggie Tale story I just had to buy it. How can you not enjoy a movie with a play called "Omlet" in it and the main feature about a group of singing Vikings?!!! We really enjoy watching all the Veggie Tale movies that have come out so far and look forward to many more. The only problem I have with these movies is the song that is sung at the beginning of each one because I can't get it out of my head for days after listening to it. Oh well, at least it has a nice beat!

Summary: Shakespeare done by veggies...who could ask for more?
Review: My fiance and I are huge V-T fans, though we've only been able to see a few episodes so far. We're trying to keep our collection limited to DVDs so they'll still be in good shape when we have kids.

I teach literature and my fiance is a norse history buff, so when I saw the Viking title, I had to pick this one up. We love it!!! The lessons are clear without being preachy and the subtle jokes are wonderful. "The last yolks? I'll chew them, Horatio." Bravo! We adore the Gilbert & Sullivan takeoff too. One warning-- the songs are so catchy, they'll be stuck in your head!

Summary: My Kids Loved It!!
Review: My girls got this video for Easter and they loved it!! This veggie video contains all of what we've come to expect from the veggies, a great story line, with humor, songs, and a moral that kids can understand. The moral of this video: sharing helps you make friends! I was disappointed with Esther and King George and it was so good to see Bob, Larry and all of the Veggies back!! Great Job Big Idea!

Summary: NOT MY SONS FAVOURITE
Review: My son really loves Veggietales videos but this isn't his favourite. At 4 I think the musical style of Lyle is a bit past him. My daughter (2) loves to dance to the music but that is it for her. I love the teaching behind Lyle but the story is a little obscure. My son has been able to "get" all the messages in the other Veggietales videos but it goes a little over his head in this one. Excellent for fun value at his age but missing the teaching point. Once again great, great work from Big Idea and I can't wait until the next 3-2-1 Penguins hits shops!

Summary: Mediocre
Review: Okay, but not veggietales standard. I didn't really like this one, but it had it's moments.

Summary: Lyle Brings Veggies Back From The Brink
Review: Okay, I have to admit that when I watched Esther and only laughed like 3 times I was sacred that Big Idea had lost the big idea. But not so. LYLE THE KINDLY VIKING takes us back to the good old veggie days. THe songs are silly, the jokes are funny and the plot hillarious. AS Archibald takes over to add a highbrow attitude to the show we find the play Omlet featuring my favorites: THE GOURDS! It is way funny! Then the lost Goilbert and Sullivan operetta LYLE THE KINDLY VIKING is discovered. Another halarious romp. This is the first Veggie DVD and it is a nice attempt. I am sure there will be more special features to come. The storyboard speecial feature was a little lame but the interviews are nice. THe widescreen silly song was an interesting choice....END

Summary: Just FABULOUS! This one is more like the earlier Veggies!
Review: Our family just watched this video and it was one of the best, I think! Esther was good, but I missed the Silly Song, and the wonderful humor that has become so characteristic of Veggie Tales.

Remember when Jimmy and Jerry Gourd decided to take over the show? Well, in this episode Archibald Asparagus tries to put some class into the story - the story is "Omelet" bearing strong resemblance to "Hamlet". Adults, listen carefully - there are MANY hilarious allusions to Shakespeare in this segment!

The "Silly Song with Larry" was "Classic Song with Larry" - just as hilarious, though!

The theme of the whole video is sharing and the main story, about Lyle, a Viking who does not enjoy the pillaging and plundering that seems to be part of being a Viking. Instead, Lyle (played by Junior Asparagus) goes out and gives the small bag of loot that the others give him back to the people, along with his handmade potholders! It is very touching and very funny at the same time.

The music for this most recent Veggie video was OUTSTANDING! Songs that will definitely stick in your head. Extremely creative, very well-produced, and lots of fun. Not to mention having the lesson of the importance of sharing.

Please do not think that these Veggie Tales videos are just for kids! Indeed, children would not pick up on a lot of the humor -Big Idea has really found something that appeals to children and adults alike. The group that watched the video tonight consisted of 2 40-somethings, 2 21-year-olds, and an 18 year old. I'm eager to have some little kids over so I can watch it with them!

Please check out my other reviews of Christian books, music, and videos! King George and the Ducky was excellent as well!

Summary: A show starring Junior? What could be better?
Review: The first part of the show is the Shakespeare play "Omlet". This is another great version of a literary classic. The classic song is "Larry's High Silk Hat", which features classic music. Then is the lost play by Gilbert and Sullivan, "Lyle, the Kindly Viking". It stars Junior Asparagus. I love him! That's part of what makes this story funny. What also makes it funny is the constant presence of Bob and Larry. One of their best yet.
