Summary: A "Classic" VeggieTale.
Review: I have been a fan of Veggie Tales long before the wise-cracking, God-loving creations of Big Idea Productions became world famous. I remember first watching the first Veggie Tales thinking to myself, "This is going to be big." What I love most about Veggies is how the show relates on so many different levels. Like the Muppets and the less family friendly Simpsons, Veggie Tales speaks to people of all ages. Alluding to everything from Shakespeare to Disney to Monty Python, Veggie Tales has something for everyone. Not only that, but the show is able to pull off great feats of comedy without watering down it's Biblical message.I was a bit disappointed by the last Veggie video, ESTHER. It was a great story, but many of the elements that have made Veggie Tales so memorable were missing (much of the humor, pop-cultural illusions, Silly Songs, intro, Bob). I'm glad to say that the Veggies are back. With a message on sharing, Bob and Larry hand the show over to Archibald Asparagus who tries to put some class into the show. The show starts with a play called "Omelet" (The French [peas] don't appreciate Shakespeare much, Moliere is their man). After the performance, Silly Songs with Larry begins, but now it's Classy Songs with Larry, spoofing everything from Forest Gump to Fred Astaire in the process. The final segment of the show is a full scale production of the "lost" Gilbert and Sullivan "pop-up" musical, LYLE THE KINDLY VIKING. With plenty of catchy tunes and tons of laughs, LYLE THE KINDLY VIKING brings Veggie Tales back up to style. It's one of the most memorable Veggie Tales in several years. Ironically, Archibald Asparagus succeeded in his goal to bring class to Veggie Tales because LYLE THE KINDLY VIKING is destined to be a classic.

Review: Archiald Asparagus and the French Peas as hosts.... a perfect recepie for disaster and humor. Upset about the lack of culture on the show, Archie turns VT into an episode of Masterpeas Theater. *bad pun, I know...* The first feature is the first all Veggie production of Shakespear's classic "Omelete". A famine isin the land, and the citizens don't have enough to eat. Or at least not enough eggs. Prince Omlete has the last eggs in the kingdom, cooked light and fluffy. Will he learn to share his blessings, as God wants us to? Will the people of Denmark have eggs? This piece, aimed at the older 'children' viewers, paradies classic lines, King James English, and you get to find out how Elizebethian theatre is kind to VT's lack of female characters.... Archie for the second time in VT histories vuts out the Silly Song bit. In it's place is "Classy Songs with Larry", the part of the show where Larrysings a classy song. The main feature is the first production of Gilbert and Sullivan's lost musical, "Lyle the Kindly Viking". Most of the vikings enjoy raiding the monastery and being 'the terrors of the sea', but the youngest member doesn't 'fit the Viking style'. Lyle is eventually found out to be giving his share of the booty back to the monks, as well as potholders. Can this bring something better than gold, money, and big-screen tv's? Will the other Vikings support him? Is Olaf finding out Lyle's biggest prolem? Now, to the DVD features. Anyone who has seen the extras and scrrens on "Countdown" and "Angry Eyebrows" would know that this is the first venture to DVD. The chapter selection has no background music. The quality of the extras are good, ut there are only 3. There's an interview of Phil and the director, widescreen version of the Classy Song, and a peek at animation develpomnet. All in all, a solid Veggie entry, though definatly not the best.

Summary: A laugh out loud, even for adults
Review: Junior Asparagus is by far my favorite veggie, and he is featured in this cute take on "generosity". Larry the cucumber is also featured with his dry wit and eyebrow-raising jokes. Even my stalwart husband got a laugh out of this cute DVD.

Summary: Hysterical for you and your kids
Review: I love the Veggie Tales movies almost as much as my three year old son. They are funny at multiple levels and carry a strong moral message that is age-appropriate for kids. "Lyle" is my favorite of the Veggie Tales.Unlike most of their other tapes, this one is hosted by Archibald Asparagus who wants to "class up" the show. His first feature is "Omelet", a take-off on Hamlet with some very funny lines. The interlude is changed to "Class Songs with Larry" - a terrific spoof. The second feature is the side-splitting story of Lyle, the Viking who shares instead of pillages. The music is done in the style of Gilbert and Sullivan. Brilliantly done. My son's other tapes are good, but after the first time through... Well, they get old fast. When he asks for "Lyle", I sit down to watch it again with him whenever I can. I enjoy it as much as he does.

Summary: Just FABULOUS! This one is more like the earlier Veggies!
Review: Our family just watched this video and it was one of the best, I think! Esther was good, but I missed the Silly Song, and the wonderful humor that has become so characteristic of Veggie Tales. Remember when Jimmy and Jerry Gourd decided to take over the show? Well, in this episode Archibald Asparagus tries to put some class into the story - the story is "Omelet" bearing strong resemblance to "Hamlet". Adults, listen carefully - there are MANY hilarious allusions to Shakespeare in this segment! The "Silly Song with Larry" was "Classic Song with Larry" - just as hilarious, though! The theme of the whole video is sharing and the main story, about Lyle, a Viking who does not enjoy the pillaging and plundering that seems to be part of being a Viking. Instead, Lyle (played by Junior Asparagus) goes out and gives the small bag of loot that the others give him back to the people, along with his handmade potholders! It is very touching and very funny at the same time. The music for this most recent Veggie video was OUTSTANDING! Songs that will definitely stick in your head. Extremely creative, very well-produced, and lots of fun. Not to mention having the lesson of the importance of sharing. Please do not think that these Veggie Tales videos are just for kids! Indeed, children would not pick up on a lot of the humor -Big Idea has really found something that appeals to children and adults alike. The group that watched the video tonight consisted of 2 40-somethings, 2 21-year-olds, and an 18 year old. I'm eager to have some little kids over so I can watch it with them! Summary: Great show. A good buy.
Review: I bought this for my daughter for Christmas last year. She is almost 2, but she loves the Veggie Tales. As with all of the Veggie Tales shows, they teach very good lessons. This one has to be about sharing. I like how they use a theme for each of their shows they come out with. This one in particular the veggie's are all vikings whom rob the poor and Lyle the friendly viking takes his share of the gold back to whom the others robbed the gold from. Eventually the other vikings decide that what they were doing was wrong. Another great tale from Big Idea.

Review: I have a 9 month old that will sit and watch this one all the way through while moving his hands and feet to the music. My husband and I are also just a intrigued by all the songs and the animation. What a wonderful show. Great for everyone. I definately recommend!

Summary: Shakespeare done by veggies...who could ask for more?
Review: My fiance and I are huge V-T fans, though we've only been able to see a few episodes so far. We're trying to keep our collection limited to DVDs so they'll still be in good shape when we have kids. I teach literature and my fiance is a norse history buff, so when I saw the Viking title, I had to pick this one up. We love it!!! The lessons are clear without being preachy and the subtle jokes are wonderful. "The last yolks? I'll chew them, Horatio." Bravo! We adore the Gilbert & Sullivan takeoff too. One warning-- the songs are so catchy, they'll be stuck in your head!

Summary: Great Video for Kids under 4 yrs old
Review: This video was received within 2 business days. I told my son that I had ordered a veggietale video and when he got home from school there it was in the mail. He was so excited he has watched it 3-4 times a day. He loves the songs and the story line is so reachable for his age. I recommend this video to all little children that need to learn about sharing. Also the delivery of the video was in excellent shape looked practicaly brand new. I saved [money] and still received the same quality video. Tahnk you so much I would truly recommend your service to many others..
