Summary: Mesmerizing film
Review: The opening sequences of Laird hotdogging Jaws on Maui are great. After impossibly long drops, with the wave towering above him, he snaps up into huge pockets for an incredible locked in ride - just awe inspiring.The wave at Tahiti's Teahupoo is somethng else. Not as high as Jaws but so thick it's basically a shelf of water. The movie really captures the almost incomprehensible mass of water in this wave. Laird's dad, Billy Hamilton (a great surfer from my era), says on the film that Laird probably would have been killed by being driven into the reef if he'd wiped out. I believe him.

Review: This is a great DVD!!!! It is a little short but well worth it!
Laird makes riding these monster waves look easy, but it ain't! Years of wave riding and physical fitness,not to mention HUGE HUEVOS, are needed to be riding waves this big. I surf, but these are waves from some outer realm of insanity. Crank up the surround sound and let it rip!!!!!

Review: This is great surfing! Too bad it is only 35 minutes long. The bonus material fills out the rest of the 60 minutes and should be viewed. On the feature, the photopraphy is some of the best. There is no plot and there is no lame attempt at making one -- just great waves. Jaws (Hawaii) and Tahiti are shown incredibly. Crystal clear shots and up close. Be warned that most of it is tow-in surfing (only way to get really big waves). The slow-motion of some shots may annoy some, but I think it really adds to it. The soundtrack is fantastic (possibly better than the movie!). The editing is very clean. It is no wonder this movie won awards. I definitely put it above "In God's Hands", "Big Wednesday", etc. I won't put it above "Endless Summer", because they come from different directions (ES is documentary with a story, but LWKE is pure surf), but this film is pretty darn good.

Review: This isn't the best surf movie ever...but it is mighty, mighty. For anyone who has surfed for awhile, this movie will put a lump in your throat. You'll realize who rules big wave surfing after watching this. There is no doubt Laird would die if he ate it on some of these! The man is a machine. Bow your head if you see him.

Summary: BAD ... WAVES!!
Review: This movie is a must own!I've seen a few good surfing movies,but this one is by far the best.More of a documentary compared to "In gods hands"which is not bad.Anyway the soundtrack sounds really good with a nice surround sound system combined with Laird tearing up them big ... waves you can't go wrong.This dvd works well as backdrop at a kickback or gettin faded and chillin out.Even if you don't surf you will appriciate the shots.

Review: This video has some of the best surf footage I've ever seen. The hydrofoil surfing was very interesting; the Teohupo shots were what made me buy it. They are incredible. My only complaint about the video is the sort of "sappy" idolization of Laird from his pals.

Review: Very impressive waves and surfing- ESPECIALLY that sick Teahopo pit! Some of the commentary I found a bit inappropriate, however. Don't get me wrong- Laird deserves all the credit he deserves, but the comments about Jaws being the heaviest big wave in the world (by Doerner) and Laird being the sort of the 'King of Surf', can not be justified until both Laird and Doerner come out to Mavericks on a big winter day and try paddle-in (or even tow-in on a giant, clean day). Mav's bowls just as hard, (if not harder) and for just as long (if not longer), when big. Shall Mav's 'legends' (Jeff Clark, Flea, Peter Mel, etc.) become unsung heroes just because Hawaii's water is warm and blue, and all eyes tend towards that sunny vista? Ooooohhh... until these blue-water cats come out and prove themselves at big Mav's, I take all the pomp they espose with a big rain of salt. It's awesome stuff, though, what Laird is doing at Jaws, Tahiti, and with the hoovercarft board thing. He definitely pushes the envelope- in the tropics...

Review: Whether you surf or not, you cannot help but to be awed by the surfing skills of Laird Hamilton. I recently popped this DVD into the player when a family cookout got rained out; initially there were cries of dissent, but after the first 20 minutes or so, the room was met with a hushed awe. Everyone there (and of all ages) enjoyed the film immensely; it's a real keeper and guaranteed to please.

Summary: One of the Very Best
Review: With a husband and two sons who are serious surfers, we have nearly every surfing video/dvd available. Even with that history, Laird (White Knuckle Extreme) was stunning. Some of the footage is literally unbelievable. After having seen it several times, when my husband and sons watch it again and again I still hear the expressions of amazement from the other room. This is a real masterpiece.
