Review: Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is David M. McCarty I practice general dentistry and have an ardent passion for endodontics. I have had the privilege of viewing an instructional video by Dr. Richard E. Mounce entitled: ENJOYABLE, PREDICTABLE AND PROFITABLE ENDODONTICS: JUST THE PEARLS!
I strongly suggest that my fellow general dentists practicing root canal therapy view this fascinating video. It is a comprehensive learning experience divided into two digital video discs. The first disc expounds on root canal instrumentation achieved by the crown down technique. The second disc rationalizes the use of the latest breakthrough in obturation referred to as the System B Technique.
Disc one begins with the basic objectives of root canal therapy and describes the many challenges, which accompany that therapy. The aspects of root morphology are reviewed with special attention given to radiographic interpretation and microscopic evaluation. Throughout the video, one will readily see the significance of taking many preoperative radiographs prior to root canal therapy.
The root canal instrumentation follows a crown down technique with the use of the K-3 Rotary system. Due to the unique engineering of their cutting edge, the K-3 ratary files make instrumentation much more efficent and less likely to fracture.
Disc one ends with a demonstration of the K-3 system. This demonstration involves the instrumentation of a maxillary first molar. The instrumentation reviews the sequencing of the K-3 files shaping the mesial buccal canal.
Disc two starts with System B Obturation rationales. This system is a recent development in bonded obturation. System B Obturation incorporates a new synthetic gutta-percha, delivered by a device called the Elements Unit Obturator. The technique is reviewed, founded and FDA approved. This is a warm technique, which allows for the all-important and significant three-dimensional fill.
Disc two ends with demonstration of the System B Technique. This technique involves the Elements Unit Obturator and Realseal for final obturation.
Dr. Richard E. Mounce, with respect to root canal therapy, delivers an organized, methodical, and eloquent approach. Throughout this fascinating video, Dr. Mounce's affection and passion for endodontics is unequivocally perceived. His lecturing material is clearly and transcendently impressive. We, as general dentists occasionally forget the fundamentals, which we know, but sometimes overlook. Dr. Mounce reminds us of these simplicities and their significance.
I have watched the video three times and with each viewing, I encounter additional information that I had previously overlooked. The information on the video has been invaluable to me. It is my bleief, that after watching the video you will share my view that it is exceptional an worthwhile.
