Rating: Summary: Fun but not rigorous Review: I am a college student who has been working out at a gym on and off for the the past 5 years. I have tried everything from step to kick boxing, but find myself needed something on those days when I am too lazy to attend a class. I bought this video because it looked modern and had good music. After completing the work out, I thought that it was a fun and light work out that raised my heart rate, but didn't leave me fatigued. The moves were fairly basic and included boxing moves, typical aerobic moves, and a decent cool down. The music was great and the instructor was full of energy and enthusiastic. If you are looking for a light 30 minute work out, this is a good choice. It's good for those off days when you really can't go the extra mile, but still want to burn substanstial calories.
Rating: Summary: There are better videos out there Review: I am very happy to say that I didn't waste my money on this workout. I borrowed it from the library and only did it once. I work out 3-5 times a week to other videos (Tae-Bo get ripped advanced is great!). This one is a waste of time and VERY annoying.
Rating: Summary: Not worth your money. Review: I bought this DVD because I thought that MTV could put together a fun and exilarating workout video. But the moves are complicated/awkward and they are hard to follow. They don't give you much time to figure them out. And, you are always doing the reverse of everyone. One thing that was aggrevating was when they change a scene, you are expected to keep moving, but the music changes or dissapears for a few seconds. And sometimes, people in the video move offbeat. The editing is horrible. The camera doesn't stay focused on one "good" person. The guest is flimsy and can't do the moves accurately. She doesn't even look like she's trying. Overall it's a horrible DVD. Don't waste your money.
Rating: Summary: "Amy Acuff WHO?" or "The Worst Workout DVD EVER" Review: I can't believe I just spent $20 on MTV's Body Rock cardio workout DVD. The fact that it had relatively-unknown Olympic high-jump sensation, Amy Acuff (who?), as one of the selling points should have tipped me off. But I was too distracted by the little sticker that says: "Featuring the music of Moby, Basement Jaxx and Groove Armada Plus More..."I mean, come on! That's great music I can definitely work out to! I usually mute my television and play that kind of music while I'm doing one of my workout DVDs anyway. I figured it would be a great buy! It also features Alan Aranzamendez, who's a great hip-hop aerobics instructor. But Amy Acuff (who?)? The workout was horrible. The choreography was mediocre and clumsy. The people in the background were anything but inspiring as most of them were either lost in their own dance-star fantasy or lost altogether. And Amy Acuff (who?) is the least likely person I'd ever choose to be in a dance-themed cardio workout DVD. She is tall and lanky and not the least bit "athletic" looking. She looks like a beanpole vegan. She can't even get the moves right. And she's not even the instructor! Alan is! She is off to the side -- off-camera, even -- for most of the workout, just throwing in random little comments that sound so scripted or forced that it makes me wonder what was the point of including her in workout to begin with. Who the hell is Amy Acuff (who?), and what MTV viewer or workout DVD enthusiast is going to pick up this DVD and say, "Awesome! I absolutely love Amy Acuff! This is going to be great!" If there is anyone that actually did think that when looking at the DVD at the store, they were probably in for a horrible experience. What were the MTV people thinking? Please, clue me in. Did they do market research and find that their target audience for this DVD look admire this Olympic high-jumper and think of her when they think of hip-hop cardio workouts? Or was it that Venus and Serena Williams, Mia Hamm and even Michelle Kwan were unavailable? But wait, there's more... The DVD also includes -- get this -- fashion and make-up segments. Yes. Sonia Kashuk (co-author of Cindy Crawfords Basic Face book) spits out a five-minutes-or-less "summer make-up" tip session where she applies cheek and lip stain to a cute girl with nice eyebrows. Then she encourages you to wear waterproof eyeshadow and mascara to the beach. She stresses "waterproof" various times in that short, uninformative segment. Following Kashuk's make-up tips comes Malia Mills, the famous (?) swimsuit designer. Her segment is about finding the right bathing suit for your body shape. The thing is that other than breast sizes, all other features on all the girls she used for her examples are hardly noticeably different. She has a bunch of skinny girls in different bikinis, and one long, tall (and also skinny) girl in a one-piece. That segment is anything but informative to the average viewer, especially if it's someone who just bought a workout DVD. For crying out loud, she even suggests, "less is more" referring to girls who try to buy a bigger size to cover up more. She strongly discourages you from doing that. Seriously. I...DVD. Amy Acuff (who?)! Bah!
Rating: Summary: DON'T EVEN BOTHER Review: I didn't purchased the dvd on Amazon but at borders. The cover looks nice, but the quality of the dvd isn't up to par. The editing is horrible, Amy whatever-her-last-name-is was extremely annoying. Everytime the camera went to her and I tried to follow her moves I realized that my motion wasn't in sic with the main instructor. She doesn't seem to know what she is doing. She is merely taking up space. Her small talk was out of place. I'm glad that she was not part of the background (she had her own little corner to the side). If she was she would have been too distracting. Oh and she wasn't the only one who didn't seem to know what they were doing. Everyone seem to go off and did their own variations of what the moves were just to supplement. I was extremely annoyed by the blonde woman in the corner. Too much make-up on for working out, maybe? I think the instructors queing made it difficult to follow him. Keep in mind that there is no mirror image instructions. When he says to go right and you go right, on the tv he's actually moving to your left. So I couldn't really follow what he was doing. I had to adapt. If you can get pass the above mentioned then it was an okay workout. It did get your heart pumping but this is an easy workout. Not fast pace at all, and my heart level never reached my cardio zone. Good addition to working out, but don't use this soley to lose weight. Try "Solid Gold" instead. And if you can try tae bo.

Rating: Summary: The Worst Video Ever Review: I have been a working out to fitness videos the last 10 years (Tae-bo, Cindy Crawford etc) and this video has been the worst I ever bought. The instructor is condesending and not enjoyable to watch. The music is okay, the set is unmotivating, and the "star high jumper" is ridiculous. I'm planning on mailing my vido back to MTV. Don't buy it!
Rating: Summary: Good workout Review: I think it is a interesting way to exercise not like a traditional aeobic. The music is modern and the instructor is quite good but Amy is not a main role in this DVD.
Rating: Summary: My first work out tape Review: I wanted to be a little more active without having to go and sign up for an aerobics class... Went out and started looking for a fun work out video. What caught my eye about this video was the soundtrack. Which includes Basement Jaxx and Groove Armada. The other reviews were right about Amy having absolutely no clue what's going on. It's hilarious, during the workout you start doing upper-cuts and she says, "Who are YOU thinking of when you're doing this?" The host says, "Oh, I don't think I should I say..." You giggle to yourself because you might have a pretty good idea who he is thinking of... Good workout however, I can't seem to get my heart rate to the advanced rate. This was an awesome first video.
Rating: Summary: Good for beginners Review: In a sea of excercise videos, I thought this one looked appealing - I have to admit I was swayed by the music though!! I am a former dancer and I was surprised by how confused I was trying to follow the instructor. However, by the end of the video, I was sweating and feeling pretty good that I got through most of the routine without kicking myself! Fun and fairly quick, I would recommend to those who haven't worked out in awhile and want something new to add to their old collection.
