Rating: Summary: Nine Ab Exercises Review: I didn't find this DVD very useful. The routines are boring, and the instructor is annoying. He sits in front and does one or two of each exercise while counting by drawing out each number "onnneeee, twwwoooo...," and then he gets up and watches the girls for the rest of the set. Each routine is just three sets of three exercises. The warm-up is pointless; it's just running in place. Once you learn the exercises, there is no need for the DVD, which does little more than count for you.
Rating: Summary: very professional Review: I have many abs dvds and I love this one because it's very effective and you feel like the coach is here with you ! even if you have to keep an eye on children's dinner in the same time, you can't forget that you have to exercice !
Rating: Summary: Great results Review: I have used this video for six weeks and have been VERY happy with the results. My stomach is firmer and I'm beginning to see muscle tone for the first time. What I like best is that the exercises are not stressful to your lower back (I have sciatica) and are done without excess equipment. I will keep using this tape and hope to have a six-pack soon!
Rating: Summary: Good Exercises... Review: I really like the premise of the video. I like the supersets. Exercises feel effective. I'm incorporating them into my routine to see how effective they are. The cons of the video are the models. They seem lifeless and dull. They hardly ever smile, unless he mentions smiling. They all have belly button piercings. He does alot of motivational talk about doing the work to look great naked, in revealing clothes or to have a belly button ring.
Rating: Summary: Bored Models with Belly Rings! Hurray! Review: I would love to be able to give this DVD a better rating, but the girls who do the demonstrations are so unenthusiastic that they actually seem angry. Also the instructor, Brad Schoenfeld doesn't actually do the work-out. He spends most of the time watching the girls and talking about their bellyrings instead of focusing on the health benefits of strength training. To say the least, this DVD isn't very motivating and the workout isn't very challenging. Also the beginning "warm-up" session is just ridiculous. You end up watching the girls run in place and jump rope. I don't see why the DVD couldn't guide the viewer through an actual warm-up. That's just lazy! If you're serious about getting toned abs, you'll have to work much harder than the three sets on this DVD. Save your money and buy Tamilee Webb's "I Want That Body."
Rating: Summary: Not challenging, but good technique. Review: I'm not a beginner and I didn't find this workout challenging, even with weights. The instructor claims that this is the only workout you need to do, but I doubt it. The form and technique is important and they do stress that. A beginner may enjoy this workout because of the stress on form. There are three workout sessions, each with three exercises to do. Only the second and the third workout session was of interest. Personally, I really didn't like the way he talked to the women in the video. Just seemed a little not like a workout video, if you know what I mean. I will be giving this video to someone, maybe they will like it more than I did.
Rating: Summary: Great Ab Workout!!! Review: If you want a brief, intense ab workout, this is definitely the video for you. It's 12 minutes of intense ab work and then you're done--no fluff, no BS. There are three different workouts on the tape so you don't get bored with the same routine. The exercises are innovative and the routine is well structured. A definite buy!
Rating: Summary: It's okay but... Review: Pro: I like this workout because of the way it is formatted -- 3 different workouts, each pretty short and not too fussy. It moves at a good pace that I feel comfortable working at. I use this DVD mostly to have someone count for me and tell me when to switch to a different move. Also, I am able to finish the workout which is a motivator for me because it's not so hard that I feel like a failure half-way through it! Con: The models are so unenthusiastic that the video actually calms (bores?) me. The belly ring comments are highly irritating. I try not to look at the screen during the workout and try even harder to ignore the "you wanna wear a midriff shirt / belly ring?" comments. Negatives aside, I think the pros outweigh the cons for me and so I continue to do the workout about twice a week.
Rating: Summary: Good exercises, bad demonstrators Review: This is a fairly good abs workout. The exercises work all of the abdominal muscles and really work the obliques and the lower abs. The video consists of a warmup and three 12-minute abs workouts. There are also demonstrations of the exercises in each of the three workouts. The exercises are very basic, very good. Be sure to really concentrate on working your lower abs on the butt lifts instead of using the momentum of your legs. The rest are no brainers. A few negatives -- the demonstrators, the warmup, and the length. First, the demonstrators are four girls with really great bodies, which is good, because it is nice to see the end goal. However, they look very unhappy, unapproachable, and bored out of their minds! Second, the warmup is basically five minutes of running in place. I just skip the warmup. Lastly, the length of the exercises is too short. I just do all three workouts back to back for a 36 minute workout. Also, I find the instructor annoying. He keeps saying things like "You want to wear a belly ring? You want to look good in that bikini, don't you?" I say do the exercises a few times with the sound on to memorize them (very easy to do, because each 12 minute workout is a short set of three exercises and a stretch and then the set is repeated three times). Then, do them back to back with the sound off.
Rating: Summary: For Beginners Only! Review: We were greatly disappointed with this video. We had been using Abs of Steel (which was great) for several months and were ready for something more challenging. This is definitely NOT it. The video is definitely directed toward women and only has a few basic excersizes, none of which are very challenging. We were more bored than anything else and even using weights or other resistance isn't going to lead to any serious abs. In short, it's probably very good for someone who has never done any ab exersizes at all, though I would suggest Tammy's Abs of Steel over Look Great Naked anytime.
