Rating: Summary: Never gets boring... Review: As a Tae Bo fan, I was a little apprehensive in purchasing this video, thinking it would have complicated, too-fast-paced dance-type moves and that I would lose interest. I was wrong--these three, 15-minutes-each workouts are tough, yet easy to add together for a full workout. Tracey Mallet is very energizing, yet not annoying, and the workouts are great for cardio/kickboxing benefits. The middle workout includes a segment using weights (interval training), although I was disappointed it had only the one segment, after which the weights were not used again. I grasped the moves of the workouts on only the second time around which made it easier to enjoy. This tape has three great workouts, whether you do one or more than one. I would highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: not bad Review: As of late I've tried a bunch of workout videos and as much as Tracey Mallet has the most annoying voice ever..this one is good. She keeps you going. Of course, like any video you wanna kill her 1/2 way through, but the 3 15min workouts really kick your bum...it's good for legs and arms!
Rating: Summary: Boot Camp? No. Good Workout? Yeah. Review: First off, don't let the name fool you. These workouts are not much like a boot camp at all. So if that's what you're looking for, this tape may not be hard core enough. But this is definitely a good intermediate tape. What's great is the variety, there are so many different moves with dance, kickboxing, jumping jacks and lots of squats. It's so energetic and dynamic, with a fresh upbeat flare. I only do the first two segments. The first segment is very demanding and has lots of jacks, lounges, and pushups. The second segment combines a short kickboxing section with some weight training and is not as intense as the first one. Since this tape is intermediate, it won't give you that perfect body and doesn't really do much for your abs, but it's a good stepping stone. I definitely have noticed that this tape has lifted and decreased my butt and firmed my inner thighs. It took me awhile to get used to the routines however, and there's not much instuction included with the moves. But if you are sick of boring workouts and you can't stand to do 45 minutes of the same thing, buy this tape.
Rating: Summary: POOR WORKOUT VIDEO! Review: I actually bought this because I thought it was what it said "Basic Training". Of Course, I was thinking military and it has virtually NO excerises that soliders in the military do. I found the instructer VERY annoying! My husband is in the military and he said it was a very poor excuses for excersise tape. And for the men to be wearing BDU workout suits is beyond hillarous.......TWO THUMBS DOWN FOR THIS ONE!!!!
Rating: Summary: Not for me! Review: I bought this video because I wanted a video that wasn't "dancing" aerobics. I thought it would be a basic calistenics (sp?) workout. However that is not the case. I am sure that this video is very good for someone wanting a traditional aerobics workout, but not for the people who want a basic military style workout.
Rating: Summary: eclectic and fun workout video Review: I bought this video because of the interesting variety it offered. Three 20-minute workouts consisting of boot camp moves (pushups, jump rope, etc), kickboxing, tai chi, and dance. I have run through the video once, doing all three workouts.
The instructor has a cute English accent and gives frequent cues. The set was non-distracting and the background exercisers nearly flawless. The production quality of this DVD is very good.
Buyers frequently want to know "how easy is this video?" Cardiovascularly, it's a challenge. However, the choreography is quite easy to pick up. There is plenty of repetition of the sequences, and I was able to make it through all three segments without any moments of frustration. That said, there is LOTS of repitition. Segment 3 feels like deja-vu of segment 1.
Cardio Boot Camp made this veteran exerciser sweat. Although the warmups at the beginning of each segment did bring down my heart rate, there were plenty of high-intensity segments. Plyometrics were used, increasing power and calorie burn. There were also short segments of strength-training. 3-pound weights are recommended with this video, but I used a Go-Fit rubber tube instead. The weight-lifting segments often use multiple body parts, like doing lunges while also doing shoulder exercises. This kept my heart rate up as I strength-trained.
The frequent jumping and squats could be hard on some people's knees, although my knees didn't complain during this video (and they usually do hurt). On the other hand, I did experience some back pain for the first time. This is definitely a high-intensity video and is recommended for fit people with healthy joints.
Rating: Summary: Not a fan Review: I bought this video, and did the work out for a few months. I don't really like the way that the sets are layed out. There are several sets, with a cool down after each. One set is too short, and if you want to do two you have to fast forward through the cool down and the warm up to get going again. My biggest problem with this video is the crazed Aussie instructor. I can put up with almost any aerobics instructor, but she really really grated on me. I have done all kinds of videos, and liked this one probably the least, because mostly of her. One funny side note. There is a big out of place guy in the back that never keeps up, and is usually dancing to his own beat. That was the hilight of the video for me.
Rating: Summary: It's a little "jumpy" for my tastes, but... Review: I definitely feel like I've had a workout after doing a couple segments of this tape. I like these workouts that are broken up into 15- or 20-minute chunks at a time. It's really easy to fit exercising into a real-life schedule that way. Tracey seems to be a little over-the-top at first, but if she can endear herself to me, she can probably endear herself to anyone. Because this workout is certainly high-impact, I don't really like to do it too often---mainly when I'm feeling like I've been super-lazy and not exercised enough. P.S. If you have Kathy Smith's Latin Sizzle Workout, look closely at the blonde just over Kathy's shoulder in the big group shots---Tracey's the one in the white top shakin' and breakin' her butt! That's what she's like on this video, too.
Rating: Summary: Look for a different workout Review: I do this video 1 or 2 times/week on the days that I do not do Crunch Yoga DVD (Fat-Burning Yoga and Joy of Yoga), Minna Optimizer-Balanced Blend DVD(Fat Eliminator and Strength and Grace) or acutal Yoga class. Suggestions when buying this workout include: 1. Watch the entire DVD before working out. The instructor gives NO instructions, so you have to watch the DVD closely to get the moves down. 2. Warm-up, cooldown and stretch on your own as this DVD does not go through any of the necessary tools for a complete workout. 2. Turn the sound off. The music is cool, but the instructor is not. She's a hyperactive combo of Twiggy and Olivia Newton-John. 3. Do all 3 workouts. The 1st and 3rd sections are about 15 minutes each, but the 2nd section is only about 11 or 12 minutes. Section 3 is a combo of sections 1 and 2. I've read other people's reviews here and am hoping that Crunch Boot Camp will be available on DVD soon.
Rating: Summary: great change of pace! Review: I found this video to be an invigorating change of pace from typical cardio workouts at the gym. The video is divided into three 15 minute workouts, so you can do all or one at once. Each segment involves a bit of kickboxing and basic boot-camp moves (eg pushups). My only complaint is that there wasn't a lot to do with light weights, as the back of the box implied. Overall, I would rate this video and the instructor, Tracey Mallet, very high.
