Rating: Summary: Denise Austin:Power Yoga Plus Review: Excellent workout! I do the 20 minute yoga and 20 minute pilates every morning before I get ready for work. It really invigorates me and I feel good all day long. I have been doing this for about 3 wks and I already notice a big difference in my flexibility, no more sore muscles after a strenuous weight training routine. The method of breathing in and out through the nose is great during the routine and also all day long--I have learned to breathe better and I'm able to keep my mind clearer in stressful situations. Must Have for anyone looking to improve overall and feel good!!
Rating: Summary: A great DVD ! Review: I am enjoying this DVD very much ! It's a great program and has enough explanation for a beginnger, yet enough challenges for a more experienced Yoga or Pilates student. My only complaint, and this is why I am not giving this program 5 stars, is that each half of the program is only 20 minutes long. Now that I'm accustomed to both Yoga & Pilates, I would rather have a full length DVD for each program---one for Yoga and one for Pilates. It just doesn't seem to be quite long enough for either one. That said, it's still a great introduction to both fitness methods.
Rating: Summary: It's fantastic! Review: I bought this dvd as a way to get back into shape. It is fantastic. And don't believe what people say in other reviews about what Denise Austins says. She seems to know exactly where I am going to be tensing up, and it reminds me to relax and "feel the effects of yoga." I have not yet tried the pilates portion because it seems to be a little out of my reach. But the yoga portion gives me a great stress release and a great stretch! The only thing negative I can say is that sometimes it feels like she moves onto the next pose a little too soon...I enjoy feeling the stretch for a bit longer. But otherwise..GREAT FOR A BEGINNER yoga enthusiast. Even my son can do it...and he's two! There is even a step by step instruction portion to help you really learn each pose. It's really great.
Rating: Summary: Not the real thing Review: I bought this DVD at a store because it was on sale. Although I think the workout itself is good it doesn't have the feel of a yoga video. I find Denise's voice to be quite annoying during the workout, not soothing. She may be a good aerobics instructor but for Yoga stick to the professionals. I like Suzanne Deason's Yoga Conditioning for weight loss. I have not gotten tired of her video like I have with Denise Austin's.
Rating: Summary: Easy...even for a fat chick. Review: I bought this video about 8 months ago because I was terribly out of shape and I figured that yoga was as good a place to start. Though the pilates portion was a bit more challenging (well the first few minutes of ab work anyway), the yoga portion was really nothing more than basic stretches from your high school gym class warm-ups. But hey, it's better than nothing, right? Her voice and narration is so incredibly irritating ("feeeeeeeeel the effects of yooooooogahhhh") that I actually had to watch it with the sound muted. (It's a very simple routine that you'll have memorized after the second or third session. Since she gives little to no instruction anyway, you're better off tuning her out.) I gave this workout a chance, but ultimately had to replace it with something a little more challenging. I'd recommend Karen Voight's Yoga and Sculpting (two 45 minute routines done back to back -- great workout.)
Rating: Summary: Great short workout Review: I disagree with some of the negative reviews. I think the pilates portion of the video provides an effective 20 minute workout. I can squeeze in a mini-workout before the baby wakes up & I head to work. I had no pilates experience & felt comfortable doing the exercises after a couple of viewings. Her workout really helped to tone my core after having a baby. I like how the pilates portion combines weights as well. On days you need to stretch, the yoga part works great too. Try it from your library first if you don't know if this workout is for you.
Rating: Summary: A great workout Review: I don't know what possessed me to get this DVD. I wished I'd read some of your reviews. I should've known better since I faintly remember Denise Austin's voice in some TV programs and found it grating at the time. The minute she started speaking in this video, those memories came flooding back :( Her yoga moves are quite basic. Pilates moves are OK, but to echo one reviewer, she doesn't transition very well between the poses. I bought this video 3 months ago and have used it only once. I guess I should use it at least a few more times to get my money's worth - but I wonder if I can keep it on mute and put my Enya CD in or something...

Rating: Summary: It's okay Review: I expected more from this dvd. This workout is fast paced (not for a beginner) with very little detail of movement and technique. I recommend "Yoga for Weight Loss Conditioning"-- a more comprehensive workout with a great instructor.
Rating: Summary: Denise Austin's' Mat Workout is better! Review: I first bought Denise Austin's Mat Workout about a year ago and got great results. So when the DVD broke, I came back to buy another one from Amazon and saw that she had another yoga DVD. Figuring how great the Mat Workout was, I had no qualms about purchasing the Power Yoga Plus. What a disappointment! The workout was way too fast to be effective and each 20 minute section was punctuated by her annoying commentaries on how great yoga and pilates is. They should have used the extra space to make the workouts longer. Echoing the other reviewers, the background music was great and along with the color scheme was an improvement from the Mat Workout. I also liked that she had a "glossary" of the different moves that she uses in the DVD. Unfortunately these points don't make up for the disappointing workouts. If there will be another edition, please SLOW DOWN and focus less on the "fluidity" of the movements and more on the intricacies of each move.
