Summary: I WANTED to like it, but....
Review: As a bellydancer and a big fan of Bollywood movies, I've been trying to find ways to teach myself Bollywood dance techniques. When I saw this video, I thought it would be a good fit. Unfortunately, it is not.

The camera work is jerky, often focusing on Honey's face or feet, rather than giving the viewer an overall look at the movement. Honey explains some of the moves in the beginning, but not all of them. She calls out new moves without demonstrating them. Finally, the video is not really a good workout, not really a good instructional video.

With that said, I'd encourage you to buy this video if:
You have some experience with dance and can pick up an unexplained move or rhythm change quickly on your own.
You want a basic overview of Bollywood dance, but are not expecting to learn a whole lot.
You like to dance for exercise and want something a little different.

I'd encourage you not to buy it if:
You want to learn lots of Bollywood moves and routines.
You have bad knees, as the hopping and squatting can aggravate them.

Overall, I've learned more from Bollywood dance DVDs purchased through an auction. They cut right to the dance scenes and offer up to 70 dance sequences on a single disc. Sure, they don't explain the moves, but with my dance background, they are easy to pick up.

Summary: Fun, but demanding
Review: I am neither in particularly good shape, nor am I a fantastic dancer. I have a great time doing this workout, but most of the time I have no idea what is going on. She moves quickly, and the camera is often aimed poorly, so you cannot see precisely what you need to.

It is, however, a great workout (I'm always sweaty and exhausted when I finish) and lots of fun. If you're not a great dancer, I wouldn't be scared of it, just don't expect perfection. I love Bollywood and bhangra, and when I actually do get a move right, I feel just like I'm in a movie!

Summary: Cross-training for the Bellydancer!
Review: I definitely enjoyed the workout! As someone interested in bollywood dance and coming from a bellydance background I have become more aware of my hand gestures and placements which are important in any dance. My rating of 4 stars reflects an enjoyable workout but some confusion with dancers not always in sync. I am keeping my video and would recommend it to someone interested in broadening their dance vocabulary and style.

Summary: Great for Fans of Bhangra
Review: I did not purchase this DVD for the workout but to practice and learn Bhangra basics. It does it quite well and the instructor is certainly very skillful and able to impart her knowledge without overloading the novice dancer. However, if you have puchased the DVD for a more novel workout, then you really cannot go wrong. It certainly outshines other contemporary aerobics videos in that it sustains interest and momentum and of course, you will certainly burn quite a few calories along the way.

I would love to see more instructional Bhangra/Bollywood dance DVDs. Perhaps the Bellydancing Twins, Neena and Veena could produce one. I'd definitely purchase it!

Summary: AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I don't know how this got such high ratings. I popped it in and couldn't even get through the first workout I was so annoyed. It's one thing if I can't get the dance moves down or follow Honey, but when her own backup dancers are causing distractions because they're so confused by her lack of guidance there's a problem. Plusses are that Honey is very energectic and upbeat, and the set is nice to look at. Minuses is everything else. Honey can't keep the beat if she tried, and there is NO way you can convince me she's a professional choreographer with her complete lack of rhythm.

There's a reason why it's so cheap people, save your money and find another workout.

Summary: Bolly Good
Review: I'm a Brit and so is this DVD; it galls me but I have to say that a lot of American fitness stuff is far better than ours, though this one offers something different. This is a dance workout that is more than simply learning a couple of steps. Honey is great, and starts us off with a low impact, very easy Bollywood workout, going on to a higher impact Bhangra one that - if you put your back into it - works up a surprisingly good sweat. The music was obviously put on afterwards, which is a shame as it is slightly out of sync with the dance moves, and there is no toning section, but other than that a good addition to any collection. Really good fun. NB for serious British cardio, try Nell McAndrew's Peak Energy or Maximum Impact - those are the only ones that really give the high level American programmes a run (ha!) for their money.

Summary: A fun way to work up a sweat
Review: This is a fun way for people who love to dance but are less keen on exercise to get a good workout. There are three routines with different levels of complexity (and endurance required). There are warm up and cool down sections so you don't hurt yourself and, as I said, it's just plain fun.

For content alone this DVD would rate 5, but there are a few technical problems that are a bit annoying. First, the scene selection doesn't have a cue point for the warm up, so you have to fast forward through the introduction to the moves, once you have them down, to get to the warm up. The music seems like it was added later on because Honey's count doesn't always match the beat of the music, and occasionally the camera is focused on the wrong area so you can't see the move you are supposed to be doing.

Still, I look forward to doing this workout, which is really saying something, and you can't beat the price. Try it, you'll like it!

Summary: fun!
Review: wow!i got this dvd becouse it looked like a fun cardio workout for those rainy days. not only is it a great workout but also a fantastic dance lesson. i was not previously familar with bollywood or bhangra dance but the instructions were easy to follow, though it does take some practice and the workout goes quickly.
more than anything this workout is just plain fun. throughout honey reminds you to smile and you actually find yourself wanting to.
bottom line: great workout, great fun
