Rating: Summary: A bit too difficult for me Review: This is the fourth Kathy Smith tape I've bought, and while I've loved the others, this one . . . not so much. It's just TOO hard for me. I need workouts that are challenging and effective, but not so strenuous that they turn me off. That's how this one is for me. Maybe it's because my fitness level isn't yet up to what it should/can/will be, but for right now, this tape is going on the back shelf.
Rating: Summary: A winner Review: Kathy does a superb job in this video. Safe, effective, motivating, she has done her homework and it shows. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Fast, Fun, Fantastic! Review: The first time I tried this video I did it without a step. I wouldn't recommend that. I tried it again and loved it! It's fun, pretty easy to follow and you don't get stuck doing the same moves over and over and over. I really like the added abs and stretching section. It's short, but effective.
Rating: Summary: Surpassing the Plateau Review: I have just about every one of Kathy Smith's work out videos. She is there to help you. I love it when she says, "be sure you have enough room in your living rooms." I must say, that this one tops all the rest!! It is creative and challenging. It gives one the ability to increase their foot work abilities on the step. In the warm up section of the video, you are given a small taste of what's to come. This is a clever and fun warm up exercise that prepares the muscles for a more intense workout. I love how the video is divided off into 2 18 minute sections of Zone 1, Zone 2 and Zone 3, respectively. You work up to peak fat burning exhausting yourself. Then, as the intensity lowers, so does your heart rate preparing you for some weight lifting to tone those hard to reach areas (underarms)!! The weight lifting segments are excellent and really work! Finally, the 100 sit ups and back-strengthening exercises are great and have tremendously helped me with back problems.
Rating: Summary: A DECENT VIDEO... Review: This video gives the body a wonderful workout, however it has its flaws. One, Kathy's cueing is a bit off and the moves are at times a little difficult. I had to lower my step and then I even did a little on the floor 'cause the moves were so intense. However, the weight portion of the video is great and the abs portion is also very good. Kathy does exactly 100 situps but they're varied, so it's not hard, but it is challenging. All in all, I think this video is a good addition to any workout, but just be careful and work at your own pace.
Rating: Summary: It's worth it Review: This is my second KS video. Her charisma and approachability in the kickboxing video appealed to me so much that I was inspired to gradually get her entire collection. BUT, I must tell you that the first video did not in any way prepare me for the complex choreography featured in this video. Still, I'm giving it 5 stars, because whether or not I can keep up with it, it is hands down, *the* most innovative exercise video I have ever seen (I have over 2 dozen other videos). When I couldn't get past the warm up without getting frustrated, I sat thru the tape one-and-a-half times to learn the moves(I normally don't have to do that). In the 3 days since then, I've actually done the entire video twice. Then, a short while ago, I saw that it was 11:40 p.m. and I hadn't had my daily dose of exercise, so I did the warm up and Wave 1. If she didn't break up the routine into 2 waves, it would have been easier for me to just give up on exercising today. ** To those of you who are uncoordinated like I am**: PLEASE do not give in to the frustration that you will initially feel. Keep trying until you get the hang of the moves - the payoff will be so worth it. If simultaneously moving your hands and feet is challenging for you (especially during those turns on the step), drop the hands, and focus on keeping up with the footwork. Then, when you're comfortable, you can add the arm movements. If the turns confuse you, just do the basic step until you can join Kathy and company again. Tomorrow morning, it's onto Wave 2 for me.
Rating: Summary: A good workout, but inaccessible audio for the deaf and HOH Review: It's amazing to me that a video in this new millennium is not closed-captioned for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. I've seen several Kathy Smith videos from earlier years, and none of those is captioned either. For people with hearing disabilities, who often work out at home, the visual cues provided by captioning are essential for a successful training session, instead of an exercise in frustration. Bottom line: I would buy many more of Kathy Smith's products if they were accessible to me. Until they are, I won't spend any more money on them.
Rating: Summary: great workout Review: this workout is great. the moves are a little harder to follow and can be confusing at first. i had to watch it before hand and rewind alot before i could even get ALL of the steps correctly. it may seem like basic moves but once you get going it makes you sweat! combining it is not long at all..it is just the right amt of workout plus the weights section is great for toning the arms..i have always looked for a workout w/weights and Denise Austin has it but is soooo much annoying. KS is great. i own almost all of her tapes. if you are looking for a good heart raising workout but not to intense, get this one. just preview it before you actually do the moves.
Rating: Summary: Did Kathy have an appointment? Review: The beautiful outdoor garden setting makes this video worth the money alone. I use many of Kathy's tapes and found the choreography on this one to be extremely difficult to follow. Also, did Kathy have a dental appointment to keep? Even the weight routines and cool down seem hurried. Those of us who don't want to use a step could have benefited from more camera angles on Clara. Overcoming the above, I found the wave concept entertaining and had worked up a sweat by the end of the tape.
Rating: Summary: One of Kathy's Best! Review: This is my favorite video by Kathy Smith! It's a great workout with a nice outdoor environment. The moves take a few times to get down, but the payoff is wonderful! I've been doing it since Feb. and I've already lost 10 lbs. with minimal dieting.
