Rating: Summary: Guaranteed Weight Loss with this video Review: This tape is like a secret weapon! Every time I do this workout I lose weight! It is the best ever, and so is Kathy Smith. I wish she would make more tapes. They just keep getting better and better. The music is motivating, and my glutes always feel more toned the next day (I even cheat and only do the first 20 minutes!). One caution, it is hard on the knees for us forty-somethings. So I try to be careful and only do it a couple of times a week and fill in the rest with yoga and pilates.
Rating: Summary: Just Following this Video is a Workout! Review: This would be a great workout if I wasn't so frustrated with it all the time! Kathy Smith is late on cues, calls the same moves by many different (and sometimes wrong) names in the same sequence, and is inconsistent with her instructions. The park setting is beautiful, but the ferns interfere at times with the footwork I'm trying to follow. I like the premise of the tape, and I'm sure after I do it a 100 times I might actually be able to not miss a step. I especially like the incorporation of weight training and ab work. One final note--others may be offended (as I was) by Kathy's use at the end of Wave 2 of God's name in vain. This is not something I expected to find in a workout video!
Rating: Summary: Very fun workout! Review: This is a great workout if you're looking for something that's new, fun and challenging. This tape is great because she offers three different sets of cardio and toning in between each set. That way you can do the tape as much as you can and eventually do all sets or if you're time is limited you can do a set or two. The choreography is very good. Takes a couple of times to get the steps down but once you do, it's alot of fun!
Rating: Summary: What A Workout! Review: Kathy Smith's Fat Burning Breakthrough is an awesome low impact, high intensity step aerobic workout. It focuses on all the major muscle groups,and believe me, it works them hard. After just two weeks of using this video I noticed visible results in my buttocks, abs, and especially my thighs. This video is based on a wave concept; in the first wave, your feeling easy as the moves begin to "wake-up" your muscles; the second wave gets you moving a little harder, putting a little more resistance on the muscles, particularly buns and thighs; the third and final wave zeros in, working your heart and muscles, creating a challenge that's sure to break through the toughest plateau. Also included in the video are two weight lifting segments,which use light weights for sculpting and muscle building. This is great for beginners, but those with more stamina can use heavier weights for terrific results. I recommend this workout for anyone who needs a challenge in their routine, but also needs fun choreography with hip hop music. It's great!
Rating: Summary: I love to hate this video Review: I have a love/hate relationship with this video. It's challenging, demanding and usually while doing it, I can't wait to be done. Once I'm done though, I find that I feel invigorated and that I've worked my whole body. I keep coming back to this tape because it's been so effective.
Rating: Summary: This is the best workout video I own! Review: I have been doing this video for about a year now. Though I own about twenty videos and workout at least twice a week, I keep coming back to this one because it works my whole body so well. The only problem is that I am now sick of it, since I know it too well and have been doing it over and over! I keep buying new videos, hoping to find one I like as well! I would highly recommend this video to anyone who needs a good overall workout.
Rating: Summary: without a step it's effective, with one- it kicked my butt! Review: when i first purchased this video i did'nt have a step and i still got winded. i am no newcomber to exercise tapes and found this one to be challenging . i liked the progression of the tape's exercises and although i experienced knee pain after incorperating the step (i had major knee surgery 7 years ago) i felt that the instruction of kathy smith to be both supportive and motivating.
Rating: Summary: Highly Effective Quick Workout! Review: This is my second Kathy Smith video & it leaves me wanting more! I have the first step workout & it is just as great as this one. This one is a little tricky, but you catch on quick. My goodness, this does give you quite a workout & is a lot quicker than the original step workout. I love the waves & the weights in between each wave, kind of gives you a break before the next wave. Kathy Smith is the best!
Rating: Summary: GIve this one a miss Review: Don't bother with this one unless you are a 20 year old aerobics instructor. It's simply too fast, too confusing and too annoying. After working out with Kathy's "Step Workout" (which is excellent), I thought I could trust her to put together enjoyable workouts that don't make normal people feel like klutzes. Sure, the Fat Burning Breakthrough got my heart rate up, along with my blood pressure as I realized there is virtually no way anyone but a professional dancer can follow this routine. Add in camera angles that make in difficult to see what anyone is doing, and this video is a bust.
Rating: Summary: Fun and Effective Review: This tape is fantastic! The "waves" bring my heart rate up gradually, and I love the weightlifting mixed in with the cardio workout. The first few times through, I thought this workout was too intense, but now that I do it frequently, it's an excellent workout. I can really tell my overall fitness has improved - now when I do my other tapes that used to be really challenging, I sail right through. It's fun to see progress! The choreography is very fun with good variety and interesting moves. As a novice stepper, it was a great way to get started.
