Rating: Summary: Still My Favorite! Review: I've owned this tape for several years, and while I have over a dozen exercise videos from various instructors, this is one of two that I keep coming back to on a regular basis.Kathy Smith is the best. She keeps proper count of her repetitions (I hate when they lose count and leave you feeling lop-sided), she offers do-able alternatives for beginners, and she motivates without using that condescending tone some others employ. The tape relies heavily on squats, which I dreaded at first (I was completely out of shape). However, after Kathy teaches you how to do a proper squat (weight on the heels--like you're sitting down), it does get easier. I think it should be explained that the difference between the first segment and the second isn't the number of repetitions or speed. In the first segment you do each exercise first on one leg, then on the other. This gives each leg a rest during each exercise. In the second segment you go through all the exercises on one leg without a rest, then start over on the other leg. This is what makes it more difficult. Still, it's not so difficult that you should be afraid to give it a try if you're a beginner.
Rating: Summary: targeted firming Review: If you haven't tried Kathy's functional fitness moves before, you'll definitely see (and feel at first!) the results of this workout within a few weeks. Not designed as a full workout, I think this video works best as a lower-body toning supplement (either the basic or the advanced section) for a longer workout that focuses on aerobic conditioning or upperbody/abdominal. Good-bye saddlebags!
Rating: Summary: EFFECTIVE! Review: If you're looking for a workout video to target your lower body - this is the one! This is one area that has always been a big problem for me regardless of how much I exercise - with this video I saw definate results. Although I already felt I was in good shape, this video made me feel even more fit and strong. Although they take some balance, for the most part the exercises are quick and easy to do - just prepare yourself to be very sore the first few days - like I've said, IT'S EFFECTIVE!
Rating: Summary: great for lower body Review: Kathy Smith's Functionally Fit videos are fun and effective! This one expands more of the toning exercises in Funct. Fit Peak Fat Burning. Everything Kathy promises about this video is true, it will help you tone and shape your lower body. I gave birth to 3 children in 3.5 years and it has helped me get back into shape - for my everyday life - and beautifully shaped my buns and thighs. The exercises are fun and interesting so you don't get bored and not too dancy or complicated. You will want to compliment this workout with some cardio and something for abs and then you'll have a great diverse workout! From my experience I would NOT use this (2-3 times weekly) with the Functionally Fit Peak Fat Burning workout (3 times weekly) because they work many of the same muscles. I would alternate them with some of Kathy's other cardio workouts like her Personal Trainer DVD or Timesaver Cardio Fat Burner. Hope that helps! :o)
Rating: Summary: You WILL feel it! Review: Kathy Smith's Lower Body Workout is one of the most awesome tapes I've ever done. You will be sore, but that's good! Because you know it's working! Kathy is a spectacular instructor, she doesn't talk your head off, but she gives you good mental visuals to help make your workout efficient ("Like you're sitting down in a chair" or "Reach up like you're getting a glass out of the cabinet"). She also includes two levels of each step she does! She has four people behind her, two of which are doing an easier version of the movement and two which are doing the advanced version. And they're easy to see!! The steps themselves are simple and even the most un-coordinated person will have no trouble following along and keeping up! There's no way to go wrong with this tape! If you do the left side while she's doing the right, no problem! It's that easy! I really recommend this tape if you want a challenging workout!
Rating: Summary: a really "doable" tape Review: OK, so I'm the kind of person that buys every new fitness book, tape, magazine etc, and then get bored of it after a week. This tape is not so long, so you don't spend half your session waiting for it to end. Her instructions are clear, the moves are easy to modify, you don't need any equipment-it's wonderful!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Great Thigh Shaper Review: This is a great workout for toning the thighs and glutes. It is broken into 2 separate 20 minute workouts so you can do just one, or when you have more time do both. I like to alternate it with cardio.
Rating: Summary: My favorite lower body workout Review: This is definately one of the best lower body workouts out there. Her moves are simple enough to do that it does not cause any discomfort but challenging enough that you feel it the next day. Even my boyfriend likes this video! I've had this for about 3 years and I'm still using it.
Rating: Summary: An excellent workout for beginners & intermediates Review: You can't go wrong with Kathy Smith. She is the best when it comes to correct form and has a great range of workouts, all of which are effective and safe. This is no exception. I have been working out for 3 years now and was recently given this one. After the first time, I decided to do it with ankle weights, to make it more of a challenge, but for beginners or intermediates it is a great choice for the lower body. None of the exercises are on the mat, all are done standing. Kathy uses a couple of more original moves as well which make it more interesting.
