Summary: A workout I can stick with
Review: I've been using the Gilad videos(70 minutes) also, but was looking for shorter length videos and this one is terrific. The video consists of interval training; working hard for two minutes to bring the heart rate up, then stabilizing the heart rate while doing strength training exercises. Each interval's routine is different. It took me several viewings to "get it down" and now I'm able to anticipate each move. I like that it wasn't easy to do right away, I'm not bored yet even after many viewings. Good video for beginner through intermediate. Four other people in the video demonstrate low and high impact versions of the same moves Kathy is doing. The video is fun, takes place in a brightly lit, furnished room. I really enjoy this video after multiple viewings, and I have seen results in my strength and stamina. I have an injured tendon that initially made it difficult to do certain moves, and by strengthening the muscles around it, I'm now able to easily do the moves I couldn't do when I first started doing this video. Nice warm up and stretch also. At first, I was a little concerned about Kathy Smith's "Good Morning America" style, but she isn't condescending, she just is trying to appeal to a variety of exercisers who are at different levels. Her thorough explanations help me to do the exercises safely and effectively. I'm now ready to try another video by her, just to keep fresh.

Summary: Wonderful Workout
Review: I am a certified AFAA instructor and this was is a wonderful workout. I have had it for some time and continue to use it. It is very time efficient and has techniques that are great for everyday life. Buy it. It's great for all fitness levels.

Summary: Not very challenging or energizing, but great for a beginner
Review: In as much as I enjoy exercise, I really did not find much excitement or challenge in this video. The routines were basic and the music boring. I did not even break a sweat. I really enjoy interval training, however Kathy Smith's intervals lacked the intensity that I am used to. On a more positive note, I think that this video would be a great introduction to interval training for a beginner or someone who is out of shape. I just need something a bit more rigorous than this.

Summary: Good workout isn't exciting
Review: Why Good: I'm busy and I pop it in and get a good cardio workout with leg work. A quickie video. Why not-so-good: Introduction is too long. (put it in a pamplet) Music lacks and just boring. I don't get excited, AT ALL, about popping it into my machine. Overall: If you just want to get exercise over with, it works. Looking for a mental & physical jolt, this ain't it.

Summary: Great workout with interval aerobics and toning
Review: This was the first Kathy Smith video I bought, mostly because it was cheap at the store, but I wasn't disappointed. After a good warmup the workout is divided into 6 intervals: two minutes of intense aerobics, and then 2 minutes of cooldown. During the cooldowns Kathy does toning and stretching so you're not bored! The time goes by fast, and Kathy's not overly perky or annoying. At first it's a little tricky to keep up with the moves, but they have moderators for beginners. Once you get the hang of it, it's a great workout! If you aren't sweating by the time you're done, you're doing it wrong!

Summary: A good workout!
Review: The first Kathy Smith video I tried was the Instant workout, which I liked inspite of the dated look.

Her 'Functionally Fit ...' video looks more refined. Its an excellent workout, not as demanding as her 'Weight Loss Workout', but effective nevertheless.

And the good thing is that you can modify the intensity of the exercises. Two of the cast members do the high impact version of the moves, two members do the low impact versions, Kathy herself is somewhere in between, so you can follow whoever you want.

On the negative side, I wish she had included a couple of exercises for abdominal toning. And does she really need to tell us that 80% of the heart rate is the heart rate multiplied by 0.8 :-) ?

Overall though, its a good exercise video.Definitely to be recommended.

Summary: A good beginner tape
Review: The exercises are easy to follow, as they are first done at low intensity. I loved that the two "adjusters" showed the moves at a both higher and lower intensity, so you can choose your level. The only thing I did not like is that the cool down periods between 2-minute intensity intervals are rather long. Personally, I prefer "active recovery" to be a bit more active. Verdict: great for beginner to intermediate, but may be not for a more advanced exerciser.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: I have used alot of workout videos and this one was one of the worst. If you know dance you may enjoy it, but if you don't then look out! Everytime they would teach you a new step they would switch off from person to person so that you could not get the step down. I was lost from the beginning, and turned it off halfway through (which I have never done before). She should include dance in the title and save us (non-dancers) the trouble.

Summary: Great Tape for Aerobic Newbies
Review: This is the first aerobic tape I bought that I wasn't frustrated with. Everything is explained and it's filmed so you can actually see what you're supposed to be doing. (Note to the makes of fitness tapes: a close up of the instructor's face is not going to help me figure out what I'm supposed to be doing with my arms and feet!)

The routine is challenging, but you can easily take a time out by marching in place and then get right back into it. The two minute intervals are tough at first, especially if you're just starting an exercise plan, but at the same time, it's only two minutes and then you can get your breath back.

I highly recommend this if you're just learning how to do aerobics.

Summary: It worked for me
Review: I was having a hard time losing weight after I had my child. This tape helped me get toned and I lost inches and gained firmness within a month. I have more energy and really enjoy doing it. I also have found that the more I workout to it, the more I realize that it's a total body workout. Since you keep your stomach held for everything you do during it; and you are working your chest and arms at the same time. I have felt more evenly worked after this workout compared to her Kickboxing one. But it's a nice alternate tape. I just wish that the Peak Fat-Burning was on DVD. That's the only thing "bad" I can say about it. Good Luck with it, if you decide on getting it.
