Rating: Summary: Excellent interval cardiovascular training. Review: This is a terrific workout for getting both a thorough cardio workout and some decent leg toning exercises. It features a great warm-up that gives you plenty of time to get the muscles ready for some good static stretches, followed by a cardio interval section that requires no step or special equipment. Every section is demonstrated first at a normal cardio tempo, then is done much more quickly for a two minute interval designed to get you breathless. Unlike most aerobic workouts that encourage you to keep the heart rate low enought to pass a "talk test," the theory behind interval training is that you condition your heart to recover more quickly when you repeatedly raise the heartrate. In between intervals, you keep the pace challenging while doing some lower body work like lunges and squats (in what's called an active recovery.) It's pretty thorough, easy to follow and easy to adapt depending on fitness level, back/knee problems, etc. This type of training is ideal for anyone who plays sports or wants to see more allover strength and endurance. It's a training secret that athletes have used for years and Kathy presents it for the common man very well.
Rating: Summary: Functionally Fit Works! Review: I recently purchased the Functionally Fit Peak Fat Burning Workout and am quite impressed with it. Kathy Smith and her instructors provide people at any fitness level with a heart-pounding workout designed to help achieve maximum fitness and fat burning. It's a great tape...
Rating: Summary: Excellent workout! Review: I have exercised to many different videos and I have found that Kathy Smith workouts are the ones I like best, the ones I do over and over. I think all ages and fitness levels enjoy her tapes. She is so easy to follow. You get a very good workout with her tapes. I must have every video she makes. This video is a must have.
Rating: Summary: great idea! Review: This video IS for all fitness types. The better you are theharder you can push yourself. It's fun and the 2 minute sections are a super idea. I get bored so easy with other videos. You should buy this one if you're like me. ...and by the way...I am in great shape.
Rating: Summary: Not great at all!! Review: Video is for people who are just new to working out. Not for someone who is just a little bit of shpae. If you workout often, like I do, you will find this tape very boring!!
Rating: Summary: 1st rate way to begin serious exercise. Review: This video changed my life.It was instrumental in my endeavor to become physically fit. I have serious asthma and when I began exercising I could not breathe. This video was an excellent way to get in shape because it is divided into 2" strenous segments. I could then catch my breath for the next interval. After doing the routines for a month I found I could hike, climb, bike, and enjoy other aspects of life I was previously unable to participate in.
Rating: Summary: This video is not for the beginner Review: I am a 28 year old woman trying to get into shape. I haven't worked out in 3 years. I am not very well coordinated and had a very hard time following the steps. I tried doing the tape 5 times and still had a hard time trying to figure out the moves. I did sweat a lot and she definitly keeps you moving. I was just so frustrated with trying to keep up and figure out what she was doing to really enjoy the workout. I think this tape would be good for someone who is already used to working out. If you are a beginner like me, I think something slower paced would be better.
Rating: Summary: Great work-out for any fitness level!!! Review: As always when exercizing at home, I turn to Kathy Smith. I always know her workouts are safe, effective and fun! The only problem I have is the music is boring. I have been an exercise buff for over 15 years, exercizing 5-8 hours per week with aerobic exercise and this workout still gets me going. Adjusting the intensity level is easy for all the moves. If you have never tried it, interval training is a great way to enhance endurance and speed to your regular workouts. This is a must have video for anyone who wants more from their regular workouts. Challenging yourself to do more than you think you can is the key to this (and any other) video!
Rating: Summary: Not "back friendly", otherwise it's fine Review: I really liked this workout except for the fact that it is not at all "back friendly". I think the fast paced "choppy" style make it difficult for those of us with bad backs. Usually, I like Kathy Smith videos but this one is not one of her best efforts.
Rating: Summary: Fun, yet challenging video Review: I have only used this tape a few times, but after each time I use it, I feel great! It is a lot of fun to do, and the 40 min. fly by!
