Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: I found this tape disappointing and below Kathy's usual high standards. It wasn't much of a workout and unless you're a dancer, it's rather difficult to master the steps. I hope Kathy goes back to putting out her aeobics tapes and gets away from "trendy" videos!
Rating: Summary: Poor music and poor cueing Review: Kathy did not cue you in enough time before she starting doing the next sequence. She would be doing the next move and she must have thought "oh yeah, I had better tell them to be doing this move." The cueing was terrible. I did get a decent workout from this video. After doing the video a few times you can get the hang of the moves and have fun. Overall it is a good workout if you can put up with the poor cueing.
Rating: Summary: Kathy Smith's Latin Rhythm Workout Review: I don't ever think I will have the rhythm of the dancers in this video, however, in spite of the fact that I have only done the first workout on the tape, I am impressed. Kathy Smith does an excellent job of cuing, so I don't find myself with two left feet too often! The steps actually are pretty basic. I've done the first workout twice, and am only stumbling over a couple of steps, and I honestly believe it will come very quickly. Some previous aerobic dance classes may have helped. I'm looking forward to going on to the faster paced segment of the tape.
Rating: Summary: Fun,fun, fun Review: The music in this video is infectious! Even if you aren't a dancing type of person (I'm not) you can't help but move along with it. The dance steps are easy to follow in the demo, but can get a bit fast in the actual workout. I'm surprised at the amazon.com review which says it's hard to get your heart rate up with this video. Oh really! If you're a monumentally fit person who works out for 3 hours everyday and has a resting heart rate of 25, maybe. The average person WILL get to target heart rate with this workout if they keep up with the dancers in the video. Great video and I just LOVE that music!
Rating: Summary: Nice change of pace Review: It's more of a low impact dance video that has inspiring live band. The dancers along with Kathy look great with their hip movements. It's a total of 40min. that can be divided into two 20min workouts. Both warm up and cool down are included in the 40min. This video consists of three Latin Dance Moves: Cha Cha, Merenge, and Salsa. Try this video if you want a change of pace.
Rating: Summary: Great Alternative Workout Review: I'm a big fan of Kathy Smith's exercise videos and this is a great addition to the collection. The dance steps are very easy to follow. The second 20 minute session is especially good. Probably not something I would use as an every day workout, but a great alternative on those days when you just need a change. They recommend smooth soled shoes and I can attest to that. It's not so easy to salsa smoothly in tennis shoes on a carpeted floor!
Rating: Summary: Fun work out Review: I'm not much of a dancer, but I enjoy doing this one because the steps aren't overly complicated. I expected not to get much of a work out and was pleasantly surprised to find myself sweating after the first time I did it. It's not like her killer, butt kicking step work outs but some days I just want something that isn't killer and this tape is it. Plus, it's fun to do.I do have to agree with other reviewers about Kathy's twin set. It's pretty, but it does kind of stand out. The blonde behind Kathy is very into the work out and quite a good dancer, but I found her to be kind of distracting(I also think she has a set of work out videos of her own somewhere). The guy in the back looks like someone they just pulled in to make the other guy feel less outnumbered. He's not even doing the squats when everyone else is and he's out of step in a few spots. Clara and Ashley, the dance instructors, look like they're having a good time though. All in all I would recommend this tape to anyone who wants something a little different(and the music is pretty good too).
Rating: Summary: THIS IS FUN!!! Review: At least I thought so! I keep up a very tight workout schedule, and "mix up" my workouts to include weights and aerobics. I just tried the "Latin Rythym Workout," and it was great...all I need now is a partner! I would say that I am an "intermediate" in aerobics, and believe it or not, I was having such a good time (as were my animals watching me!) the time flew by and the first section was finished before I knew it. My heart rate was mildly elevated, but as with most aerobics, once one knows the moves, or keeps it up, one can "pump it up," so to speak. I went right into the second section, and could not finish because the dancing kept up-tempo, and as I really "got into it," I felt that I had "had it," so to speak. If you are looking for something a little different to add to your aerobic routines, try the Latin Dancing...the dancers are excellent, and one has to give Kathy Smith an "A" for keeping her workouts fresh, plus she's actually pretty good! A live band really adds to the atmosphere, and one can make the most of this workout. Mainly, this workout is fun. It is perfect for beginners, and as one progresses, one can really get into the moves and "dance" to the whole tape. What is even better, if you are ever invited to go "clubbin'," you will NOT be left behind since you are learning some of the most popular and fun Latin dancing steps: The Merenge', the Cha Cha, and the Salsa. Very fun, effective, and truly an added "spice" to any workout for beginner's to intermediate. Just be ready to get those hips and legs movin'!
Rating: Summary: difficult yet motivational Review: I found the workout to be a bit hard, but its so much fun. It takes some practice to get used to the steps, but thats what makes it motivational.
I love this video!
Rating: Summary: What a dissapointment....... Review: Well, my title say's it all, what a dissapointment. What you think your getting, you don't get at all. To keep my review as "to the point" as possible, this looked like an amature video. First of all, they are wearing black pants in a dim studio so therefore it is really hard to see exactly what they are doing with there legs and feet. Secound, Kathy is all over the place with her movements and not in a benificial position for the viewer at times. There were times where she would introduce a new movement, and the camera wasn't even on her. She almost at times looked like she had forgotten that she was suposed to be "teaching" this routine. There are also moments where she had forgoten in the original taping to que a new movement, so you will here an overhead of her voice, which is just so amature and cheap. I give this video 2 stars because it is not worth more then 2 dollars.
