Rating: Summary: Great! Even for people with coordination issues! Review: I was surprised by all the negative reviews of this video. I got my first Kathy Smith video a year ago, and I have been hooked on Kathy Smith since. I hestitated to buy this video for a long time because I am uncoodinated and a terrible dancer and because of all the harsh reviews. I finally gave in and bought this video a month ago, and I am addicted to it! It is so much fun, and it gets me sweating. At the first, the steps were a little complicated, but for a non-dancer like myself, I picked up the moves pretty quickly. Overall, I must say this video is the best! It gets me sweating, I am a little more coordinated, and Kathy Smith is so encouraging that I feel like you cannot go wrong with this video.
Rating: Summary: When "danc-ersize" meets your exercize requirements......... Review: I LOVE this DVD workout! As an artist whose sole means of exercize has been dancing, and one who for the past 3 years who has taken dance lessons in the Latina realm this is a great visual way to work out some basic steps (with). At the end of the Salsa, I was breathing hard, by the end of the merengue I had worked up a sweat. I admit, I was concerned at the beginning of the cha-cha, (it was not true cha-cha), but it got to the correct point very quickly, and I was pleased. The only disappointment was in the Latin couple dancing section - the couple is obviously very accomplished, but not with the beat, and it is extremely evident that they lack the understanding of the true passion of the Latin dance. It does not detract from the work-out, it is just impossible to practice partner dancing with their off-beat steps. Overall - a pleasant experience and a wonderful surprise.
Rating: Summary: Fun Workout Review: This tape has two workouts based on Latin dance styles. It is not hard to pick up the steps. This is a good workout for days when you're not interested in doing more traditional exercises. The male dance instructor has a great smile, and is not bad to look at at! Ms. Smith is her usual upbeat self.
Rating: Summary: Mediocre and Disappointing Review: I have several Kathy Smith workout tapes, however, I have to say her most recent releases have been a complete let down. To say the least, if she wants to release another dance workout, she needs to give the lead over to a more competent instructor, like she did in her Aerobox workout.The workout is divided into two 20 min intensity levels ( which are actually very similiar in level of effort ) and a bonus couples instruction segment. The choreography is fun and the cast is very engaging and very good performers. I agree with other reviewers with her poor performance in this video. To say the least - It Stinks! She is very uncomfortable with the moves and is very awkward. From time to time, she appears lost and looks over to her female co-leader for signs for the next step. Her cuing is terrible which is caused by her level of comfort with the steps. I wished the female co-leader would have lead the video instead. The couples segment she leads at the end of the video really demonstrates her experience as a dancer and an instructor.
Rating: Summary: Could totally do without it Review: This is my first Kathy Smith video and I think my last. While the music is fun and encourages you to move, Kathy Smith herself has the opposite effect--she is cold and out-of-place. The workout is not by any means challenging--that was the reason I selected this tape over others. However, if it THAT basic even for someone like me (not a lot of exercise experience, no dancing experience, and not particularly good coordination) and it is not that much fun, then what's the point.
Rating: Summary: Incredible Fun! Review: ARRRRRRRIBA! I just purchased this video and I LOVE it! If you enjoy dancing and are bored with monotonous aerobic workouts, this is for you. Kathy was wise to include two professional dancers on the video. And if that wasn't enough, a live Latin band to boot. Some of reviews stated that this workout wasn't challenging enough, but I say it depends on where you are on the fitness scale. If you are at the beginner level, like I am, it will have you huffing and puffing. Last night was my first work out session and I could only do the first segment (there are 2, 20 minute segments), so I have something to work towards. For those hardworking intermediate "aerobisizers": if you really put your all into it, I think you will get the most out of this video. Hope this helps!
Rating: Summary: Kathy Smith's Latin Workout Review: This workout is perfect for those days when I really don't feel like huffing and puffing through a workout. Days when I know I SHOULD do some kind of exercise, but can't motivate myself for something more exerting. It's a really fun video to do, you don't burn near as many calories, as say a Cathe Friedrich video, but at least it motivates you to move (and isn't that the whole point?)! Steps are really easy to learn, and finally I learned something in a "dance" fitness video that I can take to a dance floor. It's one that I probably won't do every day, being an intermediate exerciser, but certainly one I'd do at least once a week, on those days when I'm in a slump. I'd recommend it just for that reason, cause we ALL have those days. I never turn down the opportunity to do this video! Very fun.
Rating: Summary: Awesome, Awesome, Awesome........................... Review: Kathy Smiths video's are usaully very difficult to follow. Thats why I was very surprised when a friend gave me the Latin Rhythm video to try. It was very easy to follow and I had a GREAT time doing it. The Latin Rhytmn video is truly the BEST video I have ever done.....Thanks Kathy for doing one we can finally follow
Rating: Summary: love it! Review: This tape is so much fun. Easy to follow, the time flies, at the end you feel like you worked out but you're not exhausted. It's the one exerise tape I pull out again and again.
Rating: Summary: Fun, but not much of a workout Review: This tape was fun, but I didn't sweat much doing it. Buy it if you want to learn some different dances and have fun, but jump rope for a few minutes afterward to get your heart rate up.
