Rating: Summary: a keeper! Review: I have an entire cabinet full of workout videos (several dating back to those hideous, early 80's leg warmer days!), and I must say that "Shape Your Body", which I purchased several years ago, is without question my favorite, most frequently used exercise video. On days I don't make it to the gym (which unfortunately is quite often) or when the weather doesn't permit me to go jogging outside, this Cindy Crawford video has always been a reliable standby - and a nice alternative to a traditional aerobic or cardio-type workout. I wouldn't advise doing it every day, though, or even every other day - you'd probably get burned out. It is, however, a great way to crosstrain or simply incorporate more variety into your existing fitness regimen. The music is cool, the scenery lovely and relaxing to view, and although Cindy is a bit amateurish, her simple, down-to-earth, girl-from-the-Midwest personality is a refreshing change from what one would expect of most celebrities & model types, which gives the video an appeal all its own. My favorite workout is #2, which to me is definitely more addicting than the first, but that's just me. I'll pop in the video while my daughter's napping, and I always feel really good after working out to it, like I've really done something. It is excellent for toning muscles and the results are always apparent soon after. No fancy dance moves - just simple, easy-to-follow (yet challenging) exercises to some good tunes. I also feel mentally relaxed and less stressed after doing the video. It's a basic, yet solid video that I highly recommend for any fitness level.
Rating: Summary: Cindy makes it easy for the mere mortals Review: I have heard both good and bad things about this video, but since I've owned and used it since its release in 1992, all I can say is that I LOVE IT! There are 3 routines (1 that focus on upper body & strength, 1 for lower body/abs and a neat quickie 10-minute any time routine) and they are easily followed and/or modified. I am not as fit or lithe as Cindy is, but I can follow the routines confidently and fairly smoothly...the end result is that I feel good after my workouts. The moves are fairly straightforward, and the music soundtrack that accompanies the routines is soothing yet upbeat.Don't let the fact that her workout wear is comprised mostly of little skimpy bodysuits and Daisy Duke cutoffs sway you or make you feel negatively towards her - I wear yoga pants and a tanktop with a shelf bra and footie socks. Comfy, simple, real. Give this workout a try! (don't forget to talk to your doctor for a few tips on the best workout routine for you) :o)
Rating: Summary: Not my favorite, but still really good. Review: I think Cindy's NEXT CHALLENGE is the BEST workout tape I've ever used. It is now out of print and hard to get, so this has most of the same moves. What I don't like about this one is the pace. The count is VERY fast and I feel does not allow for full movement... she and Radu seem to be rushing to include everything. I think this is the 1st one they did, Cindy seems more gauky and immature, and it is amuzing to see some scuffling between the two, almost a parent & teen relationship. This is actually funny to watch. Cindy is doing a lot more pouty sexy hair tossy things in this one, so maybe the guys will like it more. Sexier & faster. It IS a very strong workout, it is just my least favorite of the three. I LIKE the repetitions... most of the moves are done as a group, then you repeat the group of movements two more times, so you don't get too tired, but you really work. I don't usually have days when I'm raring to work out at top speed. When I do, this is the one I'll use.
Rating: Summary: A fun, enjoyable, flexible workout Review: I think that this video is great. There is a variety of scenes she works out in, variety of colors. The music needs a bit of work, though. The actual workout really tones your muscles and if it is your first time, you will be sore the next day. The breaks for drinks of water are important and you are given enough time to take them. The exercises are straight forward normal, gym exercises. I recommend this to any one. She even allows you to work with in your limit. Although she works at the peak most of the time. Very important if you are overwieght or out of shape.
Rating: Summary: Great workout! Review: I have owned this tape for years, and what I like about it is that instead of being intimidated by Cindy, she became a source of inspiration. I owe so much to this tape for starting my new life of being an in shape person.
Rating: Summary: Great Workout--if you know the saftey do's and dont's Review: I have had this video for years, and it is still my favorite. There are some exersizes that can hurt you if you do them wrong, but anyone who works out should know that your knees should never go past your toes, full sit-ups can hurt your back, etc. It is very easy to substitute safe versions of each exersize. It is a very effective video, and I am considerably more tone and fit. Best of all, it is not boring or cheesy--which most videos are.
Rating: Summary: After 10 years ... still the best! Review: Regardless of the Amazon reviewer's warnings, this is the best video on the market. The exercises keep my heart rate up and tone muscles extremely effectively. Plus the music is great! The reviewer cites back injuries, etc., but IF you know how to exercise correctly, you can avoid arching your back, keep your knee aligned with you foot when lunging, etc. The exercises are too fast for beginners, but go at a reasonable pace to start and work your way up. Try it AND STAY WITH IT ... it is difficult, but the results are worth it.
Rating: Summary: Shaped My Body Review: Great Video! This has really helped me shape up. In fact, I've had this video since the early 1990's and I bought a second copy here at Amazon because it was starting to wear out. The three work outs are great - especially during the winter when you can't bear to go outside to workout.
Rating: Summary: Amusing... Review: I started this video and while I like the strength training, Cindy is all over the place. Her "neck rolls" start at her ankles... She also looks like she's got her modeling face and attitude on. I think the workout (done correctly) is pretty good.
Rating: Summary: A Must if You want to waste your $!! Review: Well, when i was at college, i seemed to put on alittle weight, as most freshman do. While home over winter break i scanned Amazon.com for some good workout videos that i could do at school to keep myself trimmed and in shape. My sister also purchased a few videos, and this video happened to be one of them. I tried this tape out one day and found it to be horrible. Every few minutes the camera angle changes making it confusing. Another thing- While Radu is explaining the moves, Cindy is trying to talk at the same time! It seems like it wasn't well thought out. Instead of making you feel like you are working out along with the tape, it gives you the feel that Cindy just wanted a video tape of herself working out. As for the actual movements, there are some good moves in this tape, that is what the one star goes to. However, for most of the moves, it seems like you are just trying to "whip" around your leg or arms as fast as you can and not really working or toning the muscles- just adding stress to the joints. If you're in it for camera tricks, scenery and a pretty girl, then you have the right tape, however, as for a workout, this tape is not worth the $3.97 i bought it for.
