Rating: Summary: <dancing> Go-Erich, go-Erich, go-Erich... Review: I'm a beginner in yoga and I'm also studying occasionally with an instructor friend who studies under Erich Schiffman. I love this tape. I have problems with my wrists and neck, so I just rest sometimes (embryo) instead of doing dog-down for the full measure. I find two of the poses on the tape difficult, but with practice they have been getting progressively easier. It doesn't seem wise to use this or any yoga tape instead of studying with a teacher. My instructor friend helps me with some of Erich's poses in our private sessions. Practicing with his tape in particular, however, between sessions has certainly been alleviating some of my physical pain, giving me more strength and energy overall. Namaste!
Rating: Summary: Calm Down Review: If you are looking for an aid to help you calm down, de-stress, and relax then this is the perfect video. The scenery is beautiful and the soundtrack is soothing yet interesting. I watched this video several times at first just because it was so pleasing, but also to get a good understanding of how the poses were done. Then I started practicing it and found it awesome for overall stretching and, in some cases, strenuous. The more I practiced the less strenuous it became, and that is the secret to any yoga or work-out routine - practicing it regularly. This tape makes it easy because it is such a delight. I have had it for over four years and have yet to get tired of it. I just wish there was a sequel for more advanced asanas. Eric Schiffman masterfully guides us through this workout and I am eternally grateful to he and Ali for creating this tape - it is a blessing.
Rating: Summary: YOGA FOR FRIENDS AND FANS Review: I AM A FRIEND AND FAN OF ALI MACGRAW'S AND SHE SENT ME THIS TAPE AS A GIFT YEARS AGO. I WATCH IT AND FIND IT BEAUTIFUL WITH THE WHITE SANDS AND CALMING MUSIC. I DON'T DO YOGA SO AM NOT A GOOD REVIEWER FOR THE EXERCISES BUT ALI'S RADIANCE ALWAYS SHINES THROUGH AND ITS NICE TO KNOW SHE IS HELPING SO MANY PEOPLE BY SUCH POSITIVE REVIEWS.

Rating: Summary: Not for beginners Review: I was new to yoga and picked this video as a starting point. I figured since it's so high profile it probably has something for everyone, including beginners like me. I was wrong. It's beautiful to look at and soothing to listen to, but the poses are much too advanced, even for a young person who considers herself in decent shape. Watch it for inspiration and as something to aspire to, but beginners will have a hard time learning from it. Best to choose a different video now and buy this one later.
Rating: Summary: Good Video for Great Health Review: This video by Ali is one of the best, most relaxing work outs that I have ever had. If you are like me, and the definition of of a workout is pulling yourself closer to the computer, try Ali's new video. If you are of my generation, you will remember her with that tight black cap as she pulled into Ryan's hospital bed in 'Love Story.' Ryan had terminal cancer in the picture.There wasn't a dry eye in the house. In her video, you will not be crying, you will be laughing because you will feel and look great with a not too strenuous excercize regime. I highly recommend this video and am hyping it on my new website USDocSearch.com ( a free service to patients, because finding a doctor should'nt be painful. It is the best solution for the 'bad back'or a back ache. Too many of these videos go through such an exausting regime that by the time you finished, you are too tired to turn the set off. I like the New Age white. The color in itself is calming and adds to the complete feeling of well being you get after watching the video. Take my advise, and purchase this, you will not regret your choice.
Rating: Summary: Works Great is an Understatement! Review: Have you ever been in bed for three years from a disease that causes so much pain that even oral morphine will not help? Well, I was. About a year and a halp ago I recived an internal infusion pain pump. It worked great, for the first time I was able to do things again (with in limit). Their was one problem, I was so out of shape that even my lower back was killing me. When you stay in bed your muscles start to lose their tone and become like jello. Belive me when I say I did not want to go back on pain meds. or muscle relaxers after getting the pump. I'd had enough! My doctor told me about Yoga, he said it would be the best thing that I could do to get back in shape. Of cours, he was wright. I can now do things that I could not have done even when I was younger. No one knows what it is like to lose everything you have every done frome pain unless they have been their. This tape has allowed me to be able to move around the house without pain, and I've even lost the weight that I gained while being in bed. It even helps on those days that I have an anxiety attack, or feel depressed. Things are starting to look up now and yoga has had a part in my return to the real world. I do this tape at least 4 times a week, because if I don't I'll start feeling like a wreck again. I have enjoyed this like no other exercise tape that I have ever done.I've written about this tape to others that have Interstitial Cystitis, and it is helping them get off the couch for the first time. Pleas make another one, I'd dearly love it.
Rating: Summary: beautiful to see and to hear, challenging and inviting Review: This video is, as others have said, for those with some yoga experience, but beginners who persevere will benefit as well. The scenery and the music is very relaxing and helps you to focus on your postures. If you follow at your own pace, you will slowly progress and be thrilled as you become more flexible, more relaxed and more energized. I have several yoga tapes, this is my favorite. It is long (almost 1 hour) but I see that as a positive. We all need to slow down and this is a healthy and challenging way to do that.
Rating: Summary: Sands of time and time off your body Review: Yoga has been the favorite exercise for me as long as I can remember. Even as a child I would do some of these stretches in gym class. Later I learned the peaceful effects of stretching and mental clarity soon followed. To think clearly you must know yourself. To know yourself you have to go to a place you can learn who you are. Yoga invites you to do this. I don't get into the deeper spiritual side, but prefer to indulge in the stretching and relaxing techniques. Light a candle and practise this session in the evening before you go to bed. In the morning you can push yourself a little harder and warm up your muscles for maximum stretching potential. Did I forget to tell you about the soothing voice which leads you each step of the way? Maybe you will just have to find out for yourself.
