Rating: Summary: Finally a workout I can actually complete!! Review: After trying for months to find a workout I could actually complete I ordered Kathy Smith's Step aerobics workout. I had tried Tae Boe, aerobics, country linedancing aerobics, etc and found that either I was unable to complete the workout or I was so uncoordinated that I ended up just quitting. I am still in the beginners section of the workout but am able to complete the workout without getting discouraged. I love the ab workout (my problem area) and the upper body toning exercises. It has spurred me further and I have just ordered her Lift Weights to Lose Weight video. Kathy is a great motivator and doesn't have the annoying, overpowering voice that so many "weightloss guru's" have. Thanks Kathy!!!
Rating: Summary: good but could have been better Review: I liked the fact that you have the 20 minutes workouts and also a choice (two sets of exercises at the same time) allowing you to decide which one you want to follow depending on your energy level. Otherwise, i found that the steps are hard to follow, there are no warm up or cool down exercises. Kathy smith does not lead her audience through the steps and seems more concerned in enjoying herself. The crew also seems somewhat lacking in discipline and their comments in the background is rather distracting. I had bought this video because i felt that my post partum Denise austin video was becoming too comfortable - after 3 days with this one - I am back with Denise Austin.
Rating: Summary: One of the best Steppers I've Done! Review: This was the first Kathy Smith tape I had ever purchased, and I have to say...this is one of my favorites. Kathy isn't annoying or cheesy like many instructors. It is a GREAT workout, and I don't seem to get bored with it. I feel it's easy to follow and doesn't have any crazy jumps or hard moves. I recommend it to the beginner all the way to the advanced.
Rating: Summary: My legs ache Review: I've been doing step classes for over 5 years and got sick of the classes at the gym because the REALLY good classes were jam-packed and you could hardly move....so I bought myself a step and a few videos and I get the same workout at home with Kathy Smith...it's a great cardio and total body workout...I did all parts of the video using the highest level of step (2 platforms) and my legs definitely got a good workout.
Rating: Summary: The best step video for beginners-intermediate Review: If you are just starting out stepping, I would highly recommend this as starting point. This is one of Kathy Smith's best efforts. The workout is well designed with a warm-up, 3 progressive levels of intensity, cool down and quick toning sections. Depending on your level of fitness you can do one or all three stepping sections. The choreography is very easy to learn and Kathy does an excellent job breaking down the steps and cuing.
Rating: Summary: 3 Workouts in one tape. Review: I like this tape because Kathy was good enough to break it up into 3 distinct sections for the beginner, intermediate and advanced steppers. She does a heart rate check between each section. At the end of the tape is a rather good toning section. My one complaint is that the cool down is between the last step section and the toning section. It was rather troublesome to fast forward through any of the step sections you don't want to do that day. I quickly made up my own cool down routine so that I wouldn't have to bother and it's something any regular exerciser should be able to do anyway. As a regular veteran of some of the most long lasting intense step classes this one is ok and actually will get the job done.
Rating: Summary: this is great for all levels Review: The great thing about this workout is that it has great workouts for all three levels. I usually find that beginner's workouts could be too easy for intermediate exercisers. The beginning level for this workout, however, is not too easy. Intermediate level exercisers could also enjoy it. In addition to all levels enjoying it, the workout also includes intense exercises for the lower body, upper body, and the abdominal muscles!
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT WORKOUT Review: I love this tape! It is my favorite KS tape! I do all three segments & really get a great workout. I have recently raised my step to the highest level and can already tell a difference! This works your legs great! Its a long tape but so effective. I do this one when I have plenty of time! You will definitely sweat!!
Rating: Summary: Great workout! Review: When I asked my personal trainer which step aerobics video I should get, she recommended Kathy Smith because Kathy pays close attention to form. I really enjoyed this video. Because it starts out with relatively easy step techniques, I initially was worried that it would not be sufficiently demanding (I work out approximately 5 hours/week, including advanced Tae-bo tapes). By the time I had completed all 3 sets, though, I was really sweating. Good all-body workout. The choreography might not be sufficiently interesting for advanced steppers, but was fine for me (intermediate). I ran right out to buy more of her tapes.
Rating: Summary: Targeted toward beginners Review: This would be a great video for a beginner stepper; otherwise, it's pretty boring. It's very repetitive - I found myself counting down the minutes until the end of each section. Ultimately, it did get my heart rate up and I got a pretty good workout. I just didn't enjoy the process at all.
