Rating: Summary: Fun, but Frustrating.. Review: This video requires a large living room! I found myself having to modify a lot because I just didn't have the kind of room required to do the side-to-side stuff, but my house is not exceptiionally small or anything. Also works best if you have a floor other than carpet. I found some moves easily mastered after a few viewings, and some I still haven't quite got, so it's difficulty varies. Also, the toning portion requires the balance of a ballerina at times as apparently it is thought that most people can stand on one leg and still perform exercises. I can't! LOL In spit of it all, I still liked it.
Rating: Summary: not for klutzes Review: Paula Abdul is so cute and spunky; I WANT to do this workout, but with my two-left feet, it just isn't possible. I have been through this workout several times and I just can't get it; I tumble over my feet everytime. If you are the slightest bit "coordination-challenged", forget this one.
Rating: Summary: You will do this!! Review: I am not one that keeps up with any one exercise tape, but this one is a favorite. Gets the heart going and once you master the steps makes it very enjoyable to do. I just wish Paula would come out with another tape. I liked the steps but would like to learn and add more to this routine. But overall, it has the best quality on an exercise tape I have encountered so far!
Rating: Summary: Not so bad afterall Review: This is the second review I've written for this DVD, my first one was entitled, "How about something else?" I guess I'm a bit impatient--there is a menu, you just have search for it (sort of annoying, but at least there is one) because the routine just starts when you pop in the DVD. There's not as much of a warm up as I'd like or as much careful instruction as I'd like, but if you, like me, want to spice up your yoga and pilates life without going into yawn-worthy aerobics, take your time with this routine and it will pay off! Watch it several times if needs be and adapt the routine to your limited amount of space. There are some different angles for the more challenging steps, though I think the DVD would be perfect if there was an optional detailed explaination segement. Thankfully once I found the menu, I found that you can turn off the music and just hear her cueing (which she doesn't do too terribly) so you can listen to your own music. True, the DVD could be better quality as I said in my other review, but give it a chance and this can be sort of fun.
Rating: Summary: Really Disappointed Review: I've been a fan of Paula Abdul for a long time. I really looked forward to this routine, and I LOVE to dance (and have had a fair amount of dance instruction). Not only did I not get a great workout, it just really wasn't that fun and was difficult to follow at times. It seemed a bit Richard Simmonsy (no offense, Richard!) in the quality. I get a better workout from just bopping to a CD. But the stretching at the end is of high quality.
Rating: Summary: How about something else? Review: This DVD is of extremely poor quality. You don't have a menu to chose segments and all that. What's really annoying is that Abdul jumps right into the dancing without any explaination of the steps--and some of them are quite complex--whatsoever. I'm sure people with a dance background would find it easy, but that doesn't seem to be the target customer for this DVD. I'm extremely disappointed because the lack of any explaination makes this more of a time investment that it should be. How many times are you supposed to watch it before you have it down? Oh, and like so many other reviewers said, her routine does require a good deal of space! Hopefully someone will re-do this DVD and make it worth the money...
Rating: Summary: I really wanted to like it..... Review: I hoped that I could learn to like this. I'm not the most coordinated person in the world, so I admit that this was not the wisest purchase. I would not give this a low rating just based on the fact that I am too clumsy to do it. BUT, I lent it to my sister in law, who is actually very well coordinated (she used to dance). She did not like it either. It's very disheartening that she starts right off in the "warmup" telling you to do moves like the "motown", etc. Am I supposed to know how to do this? They are pretty complicated little dances and they are supposed to be warmup. She gives no instruction as how to do them. I admit, my heart did get beating hard because I was moving a lot, but my knees and ankles also hurt very badly from jerking around. I wouldn't really recommend this, especially if you're kind of clumsy. But if you really love dance and want to learn moves, go for it. Just don't fool yourself into thinking you'll be Paula Abdul Jr if you're as clumsy as me!
Rating: Summary: Not much instruction - and boring dance steps Review: This DVD is only for really coordinated people who are already familiar with most of the dance steps. Paula seems to be more interested in showing her dancing skill than to instruct you on how to do it. Even if you put this tape in pause, it is still very hard to follow the steps. The DVD could easily be a VHS videotape for it does not take any advantage of the different tracks and all of the extra features that DVD offer. This is a waste of money and there is nothing innovative or special about the moves demonstrated by Paula Abdul. Save your money!
Rating: Summary: Workout is OK, BUT... Review: You practically need a dance studio to do the moves the way they are demostrated. If live in an apartment, this is NOT the DVD for you. I had to find out the hard way, now I'm stuck with it! Other than the space issue, it's pretty good.
Rating: Summary: Paul Abdul Cardio Dance Review Review: Wow! This is a difficult DVD. The dance moves are complex. But I imagine that over time I will have them memorized and love this DVD. The workout is 39 minutes long: 30 minutes of dance and 9 minutes of toning and stretching. This is completely different from other workout DVDs. There is not a lot of routine. Once you complete the short dance routine 3 or 4 times you move on to the next. By the end of the DVD I have forgotten the dance moves to the first of the short dance routines. But I'm sure with practice I will have them memorized. It is a great workout. This focuses on lower body (buns and legs), so if you want to tone the chest, abs, and arms you will need supplemental workout DVDs. Try you and you'll find you probably like this workout.
