Rating: Summary: A decent workout, but will someone shut those people up! Review: I am a Kathy Smith fan and have several of her tapes. This is a decent workout but not as timesaving as one might think. There are no warmup or cool down sections so it actually takes me about 40 minutes to do a segment. I like section 2 but cannot stomach section 1 because of the annoying group of exercisers whooping it up and shouting things. They should be seen, to illustrate technique and make you feel like you're in a class, but not heard!
Rating: Summary: Excellent for fat burning and keeps things fun Review: I purchased this video a couple of weeks ago, and I am impressed. Kathy Smith's workout is challenging and fun. This video does challenge your coordination at first, but once you get the dance moves down, it's really fun.
Rating: Summary: a good quickie pulse raiser Review: This is Kathie Smith on yippie beans! She's definately in a party mood, loud, joking with the other exercisers and having fun. For the home viewer these are two good, short workouts that will raise your heart rate. Workout one focuses on dance-like moves that you add onto throughout the workout.(Think of one long dance routine). Its actually not as hard as it sounds although you can expect to be messing up your steps the first couple of times through. This isn't helped by some of the video's exercisers who take turns moving about the set to dance next to Kathy (one of whom even calls out moves at one point and messes up himself). Workout two is actually my favorite, I've done the first workout enough times that I now find it a little repetitive. Its your choice how hard you want to work your moves in this one, but you'll probably be finding yourself going for the "calorie bursts" as soon as you get the basic moves down. This video is a great one to have around on those days when you're really pressed for time, or to get your heart rate up in conjuntion with your weight work (seriously consider getting the companion weight video). Its all time flaw, however, and one I have to grit my teeth through, is the vocal imput from the cast who are all wearing microphones. Some moron exerciser calls out "doe-si-doe" repetitively throughout each workout. (Is it just me, or is anyone else bothered by this?) If you can work through the whoos, the whoas and the doe-si-does, you've got yourself a pretty good set of workouts.
Rating: Summary: A TERRIFIC FAT BURNER -- IN ONLY 20 MINUTES!!!!!! Review: I love the high energy and the party atmosphere. The 20 minutes goes so quickly and I feel like I'm getting a real workout. Kathy is a bit louder than usual, but it felt like she was having a class right in my living room! Thanks for another great workout Kathy. I highly recommend this video to anyone who wants to burn fat!
Rating: Summary: GREAT MUSIC Review: I'm a Kathy Smith fan and enjoy this video. It's great to pop in a 20min. workout when time is crunched or to do both 20min workouts when you have the time. The music is lively and makes you want to move. The first 20min. workout consists of add on moves. The second 20min. workout is a variety of mixed aerobics with "calorie bursts" or higher impact. Kathy is motivating and inspiring. However, this workout does not have a warm up which I easily march in place and stretch prior to using this tape. IT WORKS FOR ME! The moves are simple but might take a beginner several tries in order to feel comfortable.
Rating: Summary: Not for beginners! Review: This tape is not for the non-dancer. The steps were easy enough but the work out is so fast I was lost. I did like the way she "added on" steps so that you repeated the first ones. If you can keep pace with fast changing dance steps this may be a great work out. I am upset that I purchased this video. Again not for true beginners. I will try another video and someday I may be able to keep up with this one.
Rating: Summary: Some fun moves, but not as good as some of her other videos. Review: I am an avid Kathy Smith fan and was somewhat disappointed with this video. There is no warm-up or stretching at the beginning and although it's fast paced and some of the moves are fun to do, I found the second 20-minute session hard to follow and frustrating. Also, the loud shouting of participants and poor editing quality of this video are very annoying. The cuts to closeups use a soft focus filter and throw you completely off. I would not have expected this from kathy Smith.
Rating: Summary: Great Workout! But looking for more cool-down Review: I am pretty new to regular home exercise and really like Kathy Smith's approach. Took me a couple of tries to get the moves down - some I'm still working on, but it's a great workout! Highly recommend it. However, I'm still looking for a good cool down/stretch workout to add after the aerobic section. Recommendations anyone?
Rating: Summary: Good aerobic workout, but very annoying & distracting group Review: I am a true Kathy Smith fan, and workout with any one of her other videos at least 3 times a week. This video offered a workout that is not as tough as some of her other ones (like her step videos). It is very high quality, with good audio, unlike some of her earlier videos. The one BIG problem with this one is everyone has microphones hooked up and they feel they all need to shout out. It's actually quite irritating and very distracting. If you could get past that, and if you're looking for an easy to intermediate workout, than this is for you.
Rating: Summary: Not my favorite in her series of videos Review: I do not particularly like this video. It is fast-paced, but the music, editing, and most of the participants are annoying. The moves are more complicated on carpet, but manageable. I found her stretching section to be much less satisfying than what I have seen on her others, such as her earlier fat-burning workout.
