Rating: Summary: Excellent workout Review: Never would i think that a half an hour's worth of work would hurt so much the day after, and I keep telling myself that this is a good kind of pain. You definately feel this after you work out. This is a great workout if you are serious about toning those abs in particular.
Rating: Summary: Crunch-Pick Your Spot Pilates Review: I love this DVD! I own one other Pilates video and that one cannot compare to this one. I love that you can pick which area you want to work on if you are pressed for time. It is also easy-to-follow and it shows modified versions if you are a beginner.
Rating: Summary: Can't Get Enough!!! Review: I can't say enough good things about this tape! I alternate it with a cardio workout, I will do the butt, thighs and abs Pilates and then on the days I do my cardio workout- many times I will use the full body Pilates as part of my cool down. I have only been using the tape for 2 weeks and can see the results already! My favorite part of the tape is that I don't have to KILL myself doing the excersizes and I still feel the workout in my muscles the next day! I would highly recommend this tape to ANYONE- I am even getting my husband to do the workout with me!
Rating: Summary: Just Right for Me Review: I hate to exercise. This video is short and I like that. The video targets the thighs, butt, and belly and I like that. The instructor seems nice and I like that. The most important feature that I like, however, is the relaxation that I feel after doing the exercises. Pilates is not meant to make you sweat. These exercises are designed to increase your powerhouse and to help tone you. The plus: it's hard to be stressed when you are so relaxed. I highly recommend this video. After doing this workout, I am encouraged to find a good fat burning tape. No other tape has inspired me to do anything other than lay on couch.
Rating: Summary: Great workout for beginners! Review: I tried it once to see how great of the result would be. I was a bit sore the next day, perhaps the workout was too short. I've been doing pilates for quite sometime, I would need more intense workout than this one. I gave the dvd to my sister, which I know it would be great for her, since she's a beginner. I really like the instructor and the background music was subtle. Overall it was great, I'm very pleased with it.
Rating: Summary: I LOVE IT! The best ten bucks I've spent in a long time! Review: I have at least a dozen exercise videos that I've used only once. This video is an exception - I've had it for a week and I've used it everyday. The instructor is so pleasant - not arrogant or overly impressed with herself. I'm already seeing results in my abs. They feel more "pulled in".
Rating: Summary: Great flow Review: This tape makes working out enjoyable. The movements flow so nicely and Ellen, the instructor, has a very calm way about her. I love that I have a choice - ten minutes, 20minutes or 30minutes. I love that it's done in barefeet. AND, I love the way I feel afterwards. The pilates tapes that I've done in the past have been a little slow for me. This one has the perfect pace. It's an excellent tape and I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: A Disappointment Review: I've been working out for two years now with The Firm videos and recently added Yoga to my routine and was pleased with the workout. After hearing about the new craze: Pilates, I decided to try it out. I said, "Hey the Yoga turned out to be great, why not try this?" I bought this tape after reading all of the terrific reviews on this site, but after completing it, I was very disappointed. It claims to be a tough workout, but I didn't even break a sweat. I admit the 10 minute leg workout has a few tough poses, but you don't hold them long enough. I believe that if you want to tone up, The Firm: 5 day abs is excellent for your "belly". It has 5 different ab workouts which are much tougher and are only 5-9 minutes long. And as far as your "butt" and "thighs", The Firm Standing Legs is amazing. Tough, yes, but excellent results. It IS a weight workout, but weights are not needed when you start out. As far as the stretching, I prefer Rodney Yee's Yoga workouts. This tape is definetly for beginners, but I still believe that there are better tapes out there for the beginner. Myself, I started out with Kathy Ireland's Body Specifics which is a 36 minute workout with abs, thighs,& buns with no weights. I then found The Firm videos which I continue to enjoy to this day.
Rating: Summary: beginner Review: I have never done pilates before. Being a sufferer of rheumatoid arthritis, I am surprised to see that the techniques in this video are so similar to the range of motion exercises done in physical therapy. And I hate physical therapy. It was important for me to do a video that gave me a good workout but didn't have me jumping around and lifting weights as my joints are rather fragile. This did the trick. Its physical therapy with a more trendy edge. And the sections don't take long to complete at all. Just when you think you can't take anymore, its all over with. There were a couple of exercises in both the butt and thigh sections that there was no way I could do in my condition, so I took off a star for those. But other than that, I'm relieved and excited to have a video that even I can do and feel good about. If you're a healthy and fairly strong person, you'll find that some of its a little too easy. Even I chose to do the abs section twice the very first time I used the video. But if you're out of shape and would like a relaxing, easy going workout that you won't dread having to do, This video is an excellent start. Go ahead and do the section you like best 2 times. My abs got a great work out!
Rating: Summary: BUY this!! and all your friends will want it too! Review: i love this pilates dvd. after about three times of doing the dvd you feel like your body is changing. the more you do it, the harder it gets, as your body developes new muscles. i highly reccommend this dvd. the best part is, it is not very difficult (and not too long), but it is still very challenging for your body. i got it and after about a week, my mom and my friend were hooked and both ended up ordering this dvd. i can't wait for another crunch pilates dvd. ellen, the pilates instructer is wonderful, and clear. you won't regret this purchase! get it as a gift!!
