Summary: Yoga made Easy
Review: This is a great introductory video! The instructor explains all of the positions in a manner that is very easy to understand and fairly easy to perform. I found that all of my questions were answered throughout the course of the session. If you're worried about tying yourself into knots or moving too fast, don't. This video will start you out slow and teach you the basics. It made it that much easier to go through other yoga tapes that I've purchased. I also liked the guided relaxation. If you've had a long day at work, she will help you relax your mind and your body. Namaste!

Summary: yoga for dummies (literally)
Review: sarah is dimwitted and slow talking, spending the majority of the tape rambling on about things rather than just getting to the point of doing the exercises. this tape is perfect for people who want to watch yoga but not actually perform it. i like looking at sarah, and there are plenty of close ups of her face (always the critical part of the body when doing yoga exercise). i am returning my copy, and will wait until sarah does a sequel "Nude Yoga for Complete Idiots" before buying again (. . .)

Summary: Think of this as a sort of Yoga 101.
Review: If you're wondering what yoga is (and isn't), the instructor takes plenty of time to explain things very thoroughly, but most of the things seem fairly obvious to anyone who's even read an article about yoga before.

The workout (once you get past all the explanations) is very basic and is explained well, with variations to make the poses easier (or more difficult), and includes the use of props you can easily find in your house to help stabilize you in certain poses. I found the Pop-Up Video-like notes that spring up on the screen get to be annoying after a while, especially while holding a pose that has you facing away from your television.

I would recommend this to anyone who's curious about yoga and wants to learn more, but it's probably too basic for anyone who's taken a few yoga classes.

Summary: EXCELLENT, GET IT
Review: I used to be a triathlete, which means that my activities were jogging, cycling and swimming. It never crossed my mind to do something as "passive" as yoga, until I seriously hurt my back and wasn't able to do anymore triathlon. I got this DVD in order to try something new that would not hurt me, I was very reluctant about yoga. However I got this dvd and I was really delighted with the results. My back (lower back) has improved so much that I don't go anymore to therapy or to the chiropractor.

I would also like to add that Sara Ivanhoe is an excellent teacher. She gives you all the tips that you need to know for a good performace. I learned more from her than from my yoga teacher at the gym.

If you want to start doing some yoga, and don't have the time to join a gym or a yoga class, try this DVD, Sara I. is an excellent teacher.

Summary: Easy but not Cheesy
Review: I usually can't stand fitness videos because they seem so cheesy and fake. Sara, the leader of this video, is funny, happy, and very real. She went through the movements and positions easily and safely. I felt great, and can't wait to do it again! I highly recommend this 45 minute video for someone that wants to try yoga, but doesn't have a whole lot of time or money. It's great!

Summary: Easy to follow and saferthan the others
Review: As a fitness trainer I worry about my clients jumping into yoga. Most beginners land up on their necks without the corrrect instruction. I recommned this video for a beginner--and have used it myself.

Summary: Yoga For This Dummy
Review: This tape is a perfect beginner tape for anyone thinking about attending their first yoga class - or even for the intermediate yoga participant who wants to go over and review the basic fundamentals of downward-facing dog, mountain pose, tree, etc. The program takes the viewer step-by-step into the breathing and basic postures of yoga. It is very easy to follow - even to someone who has never done a yoga class before - and the very-attractive instructor maintains a very calm, soothing demeanor throughout the tape. The sliding grapics displaying tips and modifications are excellent. Yoga For Dummies is very watcher-friendly. This tape should be mandatory for all yoga beginners.

Summary: Great
Review: I am a martial arts instructor and free-lance writer. I own several yoga tapes and use each one for a different purpose.

Yoga for Dummies is wonderful for clarifying the various elements of the basic 12 movements. Many tapes just start right in as if you already have the knowledge of how to do a particular move. Sometimes just doing is not enough. For those of us who want an explanation behind the move, Yoga for Dummies does exactly that.

As a writer, I love doing the basic 12 right after a six-hour session behind the PC. It thoroughly loosens my neck, back and legs, it recharges my mind and it just plain leaves me feeling good.

And if you are a martial artist, you will be happy to discover that the poses quickly add new flexibility.

I highly recommend it.

Summary: This Dummie enjoyed this video
Review: As a Yoga novice, I was not looking for a fast paced or challenging routine, but rather something I could learn from to do on my own. The presenter in this video goes through each of the 12 steps of the Daily Dozen, taking the time to explain how the posture is good for you and modifications that can be made if unable to complete it. A good starting point for those wanting to learn Yoga.

Summary: Very good introduction to Yoga...
Review: I highly recommend this video, if you are a beginner. The intructor explains everything step by step, she goes slow so that you don't hurt yourself...Just perfect! It will leave you sore the first time you do it, but the more you do it, the better you'll feel, and you'll see the difference, you'll feel wonderful.
